Yes since I posted I've found that this will work for 2017 and newer models, unfortunately I still haven't found a procedure for the gen 1 bikes and early gen 2's like the 2015 XMR that we used in this video. I really want to thank you for watching and taking the time to leave some helpful information for other viewers, Cheers.
Here is how that reset procedure is described by BRP in 2017 XMR Outlander's operators guide, which is nearly identical to what you posted, Thanks Again for sharing.
      (2) To erase the MAINTENANCE REQUIRED message, proceed as follows:
      1. From main display (vehicle speed), press SET and HOLD.
      2. Alternate between LOW beam and HIGH beam 3 times.
NOTE: Step 2 must be completed within 2 seconds.
      3. Release SET button.

Diesel oil is a great fluid to use. I use them in all my ATVs. From my 86 ATC to my brand new 1000r. It's only one notch below amsoil oil 5w50 in my book. Diesel oil is a much longer chain molecule and takes longer to break down, giving you both better protection for the engine and longer oil change intervals (if you choose to do that).

I really liked the detail, showing every step, and taking time with each step. I have never owned a quad before, but am hoping to get my first after the 1st of the year. I am looking at a Can am 650, and have been studying all aspects of it before I buy....including maintenance. I have changed oil on cars and trucks several times in my life, but have have never had to remove plastic siding from anything I owned before; and therefore I have a stupid question for you......Is the tool you used to pull the pop rivets simply a standard pop rivet tool? Or is the one in your video dedicated to working with pop rivets on ATV's?? Sorry for the dumb question, but I have just never done that before.

    • @EscapePowerSports
      @EscapePowerSports  Před 3 lety

not a problem, thanks for your feedback on vids. And I can appreciate researching every aspect of a machine or process before diving in. Those pop rivet plier are just universal cheapo's from harbor freight if I remember correctly, so no special tools atv specific required on this one. Also a bigger flat head screw driver will also usually do the trick on those with a little patience. Hope this helps and good luck with your machine purchase and subsequent maintenance. Cheers

Thank you, that's pretty much the goal for these videos. And I haven't had a lot of personal experience with overheating outlanders, but a couple things I've seen guys do is run a product called "engine ice" (or other "supercoolants" from parts store), run a switch to fan to be able to run it more often, and try and bleed the cooling system for possible air pockets. But the good news yours being under warranty we don't have to try and guess at it and those proffesional techs at the dealer should get it sorted out. If you don't mind letting us all know what they end up doing to correct the problem so we can all learn from it? thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a question in the comments. cheers

Brp's operators guide suggest first of 2000 miles 100 engine hours or 1 year (whichever comes first). It also mentions to bump that schedule up to first of every 1000 miles 50 engine hours or 1 year "under severe conditions" So I"d go with whichever of those seems more applicable for your situation and keep track of the miles and hours between changes on the machines. Congrats on all of the new machines as I'm sure you'll see they are an absolute blast. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a thoughtful question in comments. Cheers

hmm, I don't really ride in dunes so I've never installed whip lights. No real idea what's best practice there. When I do light bars I always run a separate harness with a relay and inline fuse. Sorry I'm not sure if that'd be overkill or not for a whip light. Maybe someone with a little more experience will see and this and have some insight. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a question in the comment. Let us know what you end up doing. short answer: Yes I like to use t6 rotella diesel oil, however BRP Recommends to use their XPS oil from the dealer.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a thoughtful comment. cheers
      long answer:
I like the rotella because its cheap at my local walmart and from what I have seen/heard/read it is a very popular budget friendly choice for these rotax motors. Here is what I found in the operator guide on BRP's website about engine oil on this 2015 outlander, but I'm sure it will be similar for your machine.
      "Recommended Engine Oil
For the summer season, use XPS
      4-STROKE SYNTH. BLEND OIL (SUMMER) (P/N 293 600 121).
For the all season, use XPS 4-STROKE
      SYNTHETIC OIL (ALL CLIMATE)
      (P/N 293 600 112).
NOTE: The XPS oil is specially formulated and tested for the severe requirements of this engine.
If not available, use 4-stroke SAE
5W40 engine oil that meets or exceeds
the requirements for API service classification SM, SL or SJ. Always check
the API service label certification on
the oil container it must contain at least
      one of the above standards."

Short Answer: Yes I would if it was my machine.
Long Answer: There are a multiple different oils that you can use for these machines, some factors include temperatures in the local climate, as well as the type of riding, and how often the rider plans to change the oil.
I run the Rotella T6 (Full Synthetic) Sae 5w40 diesel oil because it covers a wide range of temps, and is relatively cheap at walmart. Just my opinion.

and bitter cold days of the winter, refer to

I believe that XMR was a 2015 year model, if I'm remembering correctly. And I go with the Rotella T6 diesel oil in these Can-Ams for a couple reasons, it meets all the performance specs for the rotax v-twin, its a good year around oil, I've always got some because its what I run in my truck, but probably the main reason is its significantly cheaper than the BRP oil change kits.
