    Another idea behind a6 is that Qb3 does not work because black can now play Na5, which wouldn’t be possible without a6 because of Qb5+.

    I have a 100% win rate with e4 c6 c4 in tournament games because I've studied all the theory but none of my opponents know the theory of the Accelerated Panov. Great video btw!

      I play the same opening and recently tried it in a classical otb event. Great results in two games as I countered 1 e4 c6 with 2. c4. Then on move 5 I gave a check and black blocked with the bishop leading to a long struggle for the doubled-d pawn. Even with proper theoretical replies by black the acc panov attack is still playable for white. I'll probably be playing this opening for a long time. Black really needs to study this opening if they want to survive.

    Great to see the ol' Matt and Jesse breaking down one of my main problems with the caro

    Thanks for the video, if someone likes most of the variations of the Caro-Kann but not the Panov, transposing to a Scandinavian is maybe a nice option....

    Nice stuff. I would have liked to look at the knight sacrifice that was listed at the end of the accelerated panov line. It looks as though it'll be a two minors for a rook and two pawns imbalance. Plus the king is a bit weak.

    5.Nc3 Nc6 6.Nf3 a6 7.Bg5 Be6 8.c5 g6 9.Qb3 Qc7 10.Bxf6 exf6 11.Nxd5 .....Pretty cool line I looked at if white tries this double attack with Qb3 and tries to win the d5 pawn, it looks quite scary if it wasn't for 11....Qa5+ now black is winning according to the engine but its quite complicated

    I'm a diehard accelerated panov attack player. I even play it otb. Its a very difficult opening to refute at the club level when the opponent doesn't have a solid understanding of the theory. Even in the line you recommend white is winning 60-70% of the time. It may only be played 2% of the time but black needs to understand the opening well to survive. I will admit ...a6 is a nice touch to prevent Bb5+ or Qa4+ but as we can see by the database results it doesn't deter white from winning the majority of the games.
    Overall, great lecture. The knight maneuver to undermine the d4 pawn in the regular panov attack was very instructive. Cheers!

      I forgot to mention that when using a database you need to filter out beginner games as their performance statistics aren't particularly useful. I would say, anything below 1500-1600 shouldn't even be looked at by anyone looking to improve. For my purposes I don't look at any performance statistics of games rated below 2000. I also filter out bullet and blitz games. There is just too much noise and blunders in those lower rated and fast time control games. If you did filter your database results it would be nice to know.

    What about e4 c6 d4 d5 exd cxd c4 Nf6 Bg5? Weird line I encoutered recently but I don't really see the point of it aside from avoiding much theory.

    Hey, didn't see anything in the description or under your lichess account, so I'll ask here: do you guys publish your studies, if so, where? I'd personally find it comfortable to go through them myself :)

    Great video, but in the 2.c4 Panov; why not play 5.Da4 b5 6.Lxb5! I do not understand. Thank you.

    Interesting opening idea. Do you have a suggestion for a move or a variation, if white plays 7. h3 ?

      What's the time stamp or move order? Have you tried the course's free trial?

    • @hape34
      @hape34 Před rokem

      @@ChessGoals The move order is: 1. e4, c6 2. d4,d5 3. exd5, cxd5 4. c4, Nf6 5. Nc3, Nc6 6. Nf3, a6 7. h3
      You do not go over this possibility in your video. After all, it prevents the bishop from going to g4.

    4:00 Another early a-pawn move for black in the Caro-Kann that has been overlooked for decades! 🫠 Hope all is well! Back into the shadows I go.
