Catherine de Medici (Samantha Morton) is Queen Regent of France now that her son, Charles IX has come of age. Distracted by the personal conflicts of the Valois children, a new mysterious prophet named Edith gains a loyal following who vow to challenge the current religious establishment, sparking tension across the country. Feeling threatened by the rising strain, the divided court turn to their own schemes for selfish benefit. @@Shane-Flanagan based upon real life history, not to mentioned these female characters are far better written and developed personalities than Alicent, Rhaenyra and Rhaenys. They are more consistent with their personalities and pattern of behaviors than the awful whimsical amusement parks that are Alicent and Rhaenyra.
@@atgay2640 What's the problem with HOTD not being based on real life? Why should it be, it doesn't claim to be. It may have taken loose inspiration from certain historical events but it's based on the fantasy books by George RR Martin. What you see on screen isn't always true to the books either. Creative licence.
As for The Serpent Queen it may be based on an historical book by LF but it doesn't stay true to fact as expected. Both shows and the books they are based on all have their merits. Don't see the comparison.
