idk if someone's already explained, but i actually know why the names & pictures don't line up on gangs of new york (and every other film) and i thought i'd share. it's because of billing, and framing! the biggest name goes first when the names are written, but as far as on the cover,, they try to make it aesthetically pleasing, and sometimes, they have to keep the billing in mind there, too. in ensemble films, the more popular actor will be largest on the cover, and the less popular ones will be smaller, although sometimes, the names still don't line up because of creative choices. it still bothers me, but at least it makes sense from a logical standpoint.
