    It’s amazing to think how diverse your options are with that type of degree, I always thought you could only really do accounting for firms - turns out there’s loads to choose from!

    Thanks for the vid, how is Audit going for you now? Also I was wondering just how competitive jobs are people say it's difficult to get a job but how hard is it?

      I just finished my main busy season, so it’s been very busy… but over the worst of it now ☺️
      I think it depends when you apply, which location etc… I would really recommend getting a summer internship if possible, as this can often lead to a graduate job offer without going through the lengthy application process again.

    Hi, I just graduated in an investment degree last year and I genuinely don't know what career path to pursue in this industry. I enjoy the stock market and learning about the mechanics and technicalities of how it works, but I enjoy interacting with people. I don't know what career path I can pursue that incorporates some degree of both 😢

      Hey! I wouldn’t worry about not knowing what to do, I think a lot of people are in the same boat ☺️
      Personally, in my role as an accountant (auditor) we get a lot of client interaction, I speak to my team multiple times a day and am able to organise socials etc, which might not be expected. I think it would be great to work for a large company as that would give you scope to potentially do placements/secondments in other areas and the social aspect too.
      Investment banking / M&A / Venture Capital / Coding / Programming might be roles that you’d be interested in.
      More general advice would be to try getting work experience or an internship in a few different roles to see what you like best. Alternatively, there are some graduate schemes where you rotate placements every 6-12 months to allow you to experience different roles within the company - they’re usually offered at the big firms 😊

    Do you have to complete acca to go into these jobs?

    • @BeccaandSoph
      @BeccaandSoph  Před 2 lety

      Hi! For the graduate positions, they will usually only expect you to have a university degree, so no need to have any accounting qualifications prior.
      Not all require you to take professional exams, but some positions like audit do ☺️

      @habiba6505 Před 2 lety +1

      @@BeccaandSoph hey, thanks for the respond. I mean I guess if you want to complete the qualifications you have a choice but I’ve heard most of these companies who pay well would want that, after university I feel like I’ve lost the motivation to continue studying and I hope I can still progress without doing them😩

    • @BeccaCulley123
      @BeccaCulley123 Před 2 lety

      @@habiba6505 there are definitely some professions discussed in this video that don’t require further qualifications, but audit is not one of them ☺️. So it completely depends/varies.
      I think the best thing to do would be to look at specific companies websites or speak to your careers team at university. Hope that helps!
