    Good afternoon from New England Drums are my main instrument (41yrs) but I learned to play guitar (20yrs) so I could record riffs and ideas to loop them to jam over I've always like Laney's bc Jerry Cantrell from AIC used them along with early EVH Amps on the DIRT album that Eddie had gifted Jerry at the end of the 1991 VH/AIC tour I never considered AIC "Grunge" but more Metal/Doomy and Jerry's use of the Laney's and EVH gear really set his sound...and AIC... apart from the other Seattle bands Imo 🤘🧐✌️😎

    Before I say this, know that I absolutely LOVE Laney amps, and the Ironheart is no exception, however, how many versions of the Ironheart do we actually NEED? I realize that this is a review of the all tube, BCC Ironhearts, but if Laney would give us a Loudbox/Lead top/Dual Top version of the Supergroup, I would 100% purchase (and probably even preorder) one without so much as a second thought...just saying

    It would help if you can show the versatility of the amp . Ie clean , crunch , midrange tones that most gigging musicians might use . This just seems like a metal amp demo , although I enjoyed that jam at the end . Loved the phrasing .

    Hi guys ! I've been waiting for this review for so long ! But I'm a little disappointed because we can't hear the sounds of the combo. Does it have clean "jazz" sound as said on Laney website ? How does it take pedals ? Quality of fx loop ? Hi gain sounds ? Crunch sounds ? I was almost ready to buy it but I still have too much questions without answers to decide. Perhaps in another review ? Thanx from France !

    • @ejw3006

      The weird sound you hear is from overloading the pre amp I think, since he basically is boosting with the active pickups and then adding the boost circuit (which has a lot of range) you get this weird farting out sound of gain.

    Hmm.. closer inspection of the back panel on the Andetons site shows it claims to be "Handcrafted in UK" , "Designed and made in the UK" and also "Made in China" - seems unlikely all are true, my guess is the last one is true, fair enough, nothing against China built so long as QC is good but having the three statements on the back of the amp is a bit confusing/misleadng...

    • @sjgreaves
      @sjgreaves Před 4 měsíci

      Ah... looks like the issue might be with the photo Andertons are using, I downloaded the manual from Laney's website and it has a photo of the back panel which does NOT have the "Made in China" line so yeah looks like UK made, nice!

    When did you guys program John to play analogue gear? I didn't think the Digital John 2000 could do that. Firmware update I bet- seems to have installed properly- it sounds great.
    Question- What's the attenuation on the fx loop about? Is that for when you want to use an external preamp or something directly into the return and it's a bit too hot or something? Because I can't imagine why I would ever want to attenuate my delay or reverb- I would just turn them down or adjust the wet/dry mix on the pedal. My Blackstar Club 40 has it to- but I don't know what it's really for. Or is it about reducing the amount your preamp is driving your reverb or delay? That actually makes a little more sense to me- though tbh I don't see why you wouldn't just turn the preamp down but- anyone? Someone out there knows what it's for.

  • @1man1guitarletsgo
    @1man1guitarletsgo Před 4 měsíci

    In the opening jam, there was so much distortion that neither guitar could make itself heard. These high gain sounds are great in the bedroom, especially with the attenuators, but they never work (for me, anyway) in gig situations. Contrast this with the lower-gain closing jam, where the cleaner sounds allowed both guitars to be heard. That's much more representative of real gig settings. Anyway: anyone considering a quality valve amp should look seriously at Laney.

  • @havardask
    @havardask Před 4 měsíci

    John, it’s not a MIDI input, it’s a DIN socket for the footswitch. I don’t get why Laney went away from the original design, where they also had jacks, so you could use a standard relay switcher. If that foot controller shits the bed, there’s no way to switch channels. It’s a cool amp, and it sounds better than in the video, but a crap design.

    • @robertholsman
      @robertholsman Před 2 měsíci

      The Ironhearts have always had that DIN socket for the foot switch. Totally agree, it's a poor choice of connection, but it's not a recent change.
