  • The Coverage Project is back at it again as we begin a new tour, with the mission to reach the last few regions of the contiguous US which we haven't yet explored on the channel. Setting out for this ordeal, I had already been driving for a week just to arrive at southern Arizona from the northeast. Surely I was ready to start off by exploring more of a state with which I had, let's just say, unfinished business. The capital of the Grand Canyon State is a city which resonates with America's more recent history, yet merits a flashback to ancient history to fully realize its exceptional significance from start to finish. From a prehistoric network of irrigation canals, to environmentally influenced abandonment, the more familiar city of Phoenix sets forth the message that not once, but twice can societies defy some of Arizona's most uninviting and hostile conditions to create urban marvels. A modern American rebirth, fueled by economic conditions of the day, has thrusted the city into major spotlight and prominence, earning itself the title of the 5th most populous city in the United States. Grab your sunglasses and a readiness for adventure as we celebrate a fresh year with a renewal of Coverage Project travel. Let's begin our final road trip of the 50 states journey in style.
