    My car had the same issue with water wrecking the headlight, it turns out it was just the ballast which is attached to the bottom of the headlight assembly. It's cheap, around $100 for a used one on eBay. The hard part is getting at it, the bumper has to somewhat come apart to get the light off. After that, the ballast just attaches on to the bottom of the headlight. Hopefully that's all yours needs!

    If you happen to have an AutoZone around you they sell a great product to get the oil cleaned up from your driveway. It's called purple power driveway and concrete degreaser. The way I use it is I put it in a squirt bottle or you can just buy the one it's already in the squirt bottle spray all your spots down. Either later on in the day or the next day spray it again. Do that a couple times and wait until you get a good rain and it should get rid of most of it the first shot. Once your driveway is dry again any spots that you see spray again and normally the second time after a good rain normally gets everything up.

    • @cawimmer430
      @cawimmer430 Před 5 lety

      @@SI0AX,
      The previous owner obviously didn't treat the car well. Did you watch the video? The maintenance seemed half-hearted, the tires are mismatched and different brands - this treatment reeks of CHEAP and LAZY maintenance.
      I've been driving European cars for years and have had no serious issues with them. My last car, a 2007 BMW, was driven for 11 years without any major issues.

    • @SI0AX
      @SI0AX Před 5 lety

      @@cawimmer430 But that is exactly the reason it happens. You buy a car that has you chocked on the loan and when the car gets a problem, you don't have the money to repair it and then it gets worse and you're love for the car goes away and now you are left with regret. I'm sure that is the majority of owners, even the car manufacturers are embracing the 5 year leases and dropping prices to incentivize it.

    • @cawimmer430
      @cawimmer430 Před 5 lety

      @@SI0AX,
      When you buy a car you should always budget for maintenance and repairs.
      I've been driving German cars for years and never had catastrophic failures or reliability issues. These are well-made cars to begin with, but one also has to treat them and maintain them correctly.
      Another problem is that cheapskates take their expensive European car to some [cheaper] independent mechanic shop who actually do more damage because they are unfamiliar with the technology and how to maintain or repair it. If you're driving the latest automobile, bring it to the dealership. It's costlier, but they generally know what they are doing. :-)
      Honestly, I've always had good experiences with my German cars, even as they age. My old folks have a fully-loaded 2010 Mercedes E350 CGI W212, currently over 220,000 km, works like a charm and has no issues. My dad is very religious on maintenance AND having the right people (dealership-trained mechanics) do the oil changes etc.

    I bought 2007 BMW 335xi for cheap. Turned out to have some flaws that I need to take care of, like misfiring at start, hard start, it had oil housing gasket bad, thrust arms and control arms were bad, etc. I'm doing work myself, so I save a lot of money on labor. But my point is that when you are done with all of it, even if this gonna end up being as much as market value is, you have fully functional car. Now, if you buy used one, you gonna pay market value + all repairs that might need to be done! I would never think twice about buying cheap, decent looking car and fix it rather than paying market value.
