I have lived on Schuyler St for 5 yrs now, my grandson and my cats love I can open the door n they can watch the trains go by. And def. YES, snow removal on this street def. needs to be improved!!! Not all houses have room for 1 car,, let alone 2!
I see plenty of cats there, they all look well fed! Perhaps some were yours. Thanks for commenting.
@@railroadingrambler218 my cats are indoor only, but they were very young ferals( less than 5-6 wks old) when I got them. But there is at least 3 or more ppl around here who do try to feed and shelter the ferals since we have no trap, fix and release programs here
Why don't these idiots move their cars, at least temporarily instead of trying to screw around while the train sits? Have some respect for the train - it was there before you were.
@@johnsmythe131 I know, it's sad isn't it??? The tracks also used to serve the Utica Club Brewery for their tours. They had the cutest trolly way back when. Not sure when that started but I moved here in 78 and very few remember that. All I can say is, some feel they are privileged and the train should move around their cars???
I never get tired of watching street running. Great video!
Interesting - I don't think folks think about how they park in the snow. This makes the conductor and engineer work to get cars moved which can't be a lot of fun :) This is great short line work - keep the customer supplied and operating in all weather conditions. Very cool!
If I was the engineer I would lay on the horn continuously! Or get out with a piece of metal and a hammer & stand next to the vehicle & bang them together as if I was striking the venicle...
Good game with numbers! 😊
NYSW 3040 - 50 years old Veteran locomotive. (Model: EMD GP40; Built: 5/1970; ) Very Nice videos, Thanks!
I’m sure it’s a constant nightmare, dealing with motorist while street running. I still think it’s very cool, definitely don’t see a lot of it today. They need to run the 1225 berk down the street in the snow, would be epic!
Fascinating, both the street running and that industry. So damn cool, keep up the good work
Very Nice videos, great catches on the entering/exiting the building
Enjoying your video from North Yorkshire, England
Insurance agent: "Mr Smith, do you park your car in a garage, off the street or on the street?"
Mr Smith: "On the street."
Insurance agent: "Let's, see... ah, I see you live on Schuyler. Okay, your premium will four times normal."
Mr Smith: "Aw, man!"
Actually, I have seen cars, motorcycles, bikes, kids on skateboards get hung up on the tracks and wipe out, cause they don't drive carefully. The best was the kid on the skateboard, who got up super fast, grabbed his board n looked at me and said " I meant to do that!" 😂
I love it!! You've made my afternoon!!! Great stuff from the past! Up until now!!! And yes I grabbed a shot of the watch tower with the engine coming towards it! ! Great sunset shot!! Thanks for taking the time to do this!!! Thanks my friend!
Thanks WW! Took a long time stitching this video together, thought it’d be worth it, though. I’ll be uploading another highlight video for the non-winter months within a week or so as well.
You get a better perspective of the size of a train, seeing it share a road with cars. I used to work with trains and never quite had this perspective.
My blood pressure would be high from dealing with morons on this street.
Otherwise I love the videos of the street action, and I like that you don’t edit out the headaches that occur.
Delivering the goods to Matt Brewing to make the magic that is Saranac.
i love watching street running. But even more fun is watching Geeps working so close up. And locos running light. Thanks!
Awesome site seeing these big guys driving down the street. Great footage.
NYS&W runs down south to Ridgefield Pk. in NJ. I've seen #3040 pass thru Maywood, NJ many times. Great short line railroad.
Come rain, sun and snow #3040 steals the show. This is one of the best yet.
OK. I'm in Southern California near Disneyland. Thanks for the video of the snow plow.
That engine sound is amazing!
I thought I recognized an old friend - MA&N 2453, ex-EL C425 of the same number. I bet I saw that plying the EL in the 1970s. Thanks, great videos!
Thanks for the video of the powerful diesel locomotive. The engine sound is very good.
That was a good one. I never seen anything like that street run.
Kommt ein Fracht Zug durch die City. Ein wunderschönes Video toll gemacht weiterhin good Lucky Train 🚂🚂
Herr Breuer, I enjoyed your comment. And I too enjoyed this video!
As a good German, and especially with your family name, you should really enjoy the fact that this train is delivering to a BREWERY!
That conductor & engineer gotta hear that ringing bell in their dreams....
Great video, thanks. Best wishes from the UK.
I just rewatched this and from I think it's 12:00 to about the end that engine went inside the brewery to grab an empty car(s) to add to their line. Personally, I am gonna miss the heck out of this when I move!! And, the brewery hosts 1 of the largest 15k race, the Utica Boilermaker. It gets ppl from all over the world each yr.
Rocket scientist in the silver minivan. Just get the hell out of the way and let it pass and then figure out the parking.
They shouldn’t allow parking on that street. Or just let the cars get plowed with no liability and watch how quick people stop doing that.
I'am Your Newest Subscriber Great Videos
Love your videos!
Awesome video, well done! Thumbs up! Greetings!
I just recently received a NYS&W SD40-2 to add to my H.O. scale layout.
Really great video. It sure looked close when the train had to go into the building and exit it.
Those dirty snow piles bring back a lot of memories of Michigan.
I'd sure wouldn't mind a train coming down my street because I am a rail fan.
Thank you. Watched it from start to finish. That's my old hood ... West Utica!
Great video, nice to see the SOO LIne hoppers.
Engineer needs lots of patience to do that route, gonna take a while somedays, that's for sure!!!
Sloppy parking is typical.
Amazing train video!! Like!
Some great footage! Pulling in and out of the brewery always interesting to watch. I like watching Jim Stobe, Hobo Stobe, especially when he steals a ride in the cab of the end engine. Sad Amtrak's high speed train took him out. His piano playing was great too!
Great video!
Nice video nice editing 👍
Great stuff here, thanks!
Awesome video 🚄🚄❄️
Looks very cold 🥶 there!
It is.....West Utica on a freezing cold winter's day!! Grew up 2 blocks away from this rail line.
The conductor really earns his/her keep on this run.
When I moved here 5 yrs ago, my oldest grandson was 6. He was so happy when I opened my door and showed him how to signal the conductor to honk the engine whistle lol. I was the best Gramma around cause they waved and honked lol
Such a strange route for a freight train. ???
Just give them all a yellow pin stripe. :-)
great video, thanks
Very good video
Thank you! Greetings from Germany. :O)
I need to get up there one day! Awesome!
you all probably dont care but does someone know of a method to get back into an Instagram account??
I somehow lost my login password. I would love any tricks you can give me
that is just crazy, I cant imagine living there....
You watch these people, that probably see this train everyday, and they still act like they don't know what to do, amazing. Just get out of the way!
Thanks for sharing. I love how people parked along the street at least pull their mirrors in. But wait, the train doesn’t stop at the stop signs? Do they have to stop for a school bus with lights flashing?
Super filmik.
Awesome!
That's awesome
Love from RailRoad CrossingOntario
What a way to run a rail road .till then keep smiling with lol politely healthy and safely share the road
When the street sign says 'Slow, Children at Play" I thought it might be referring to the engineer.
I always read those as "Slow Children... at Play." Maybe their parents could read to them more.
I live near there
Very cool stuff! Does rail have presidence over road?
Have spent time in Utica. Outside of the public library, it's a pretty grim place any time of year.
You need to spend more time here. Library, zoo, brewery, museums, parks including the golf course, varick street, boilermaker and more.
Ive lived here for 30 years. I love it, there is better places, there is worse. Its home
I am sure that if I looked in my car's rear view mirror and saw a locomotive I would ruin my bloomers!
If u want real fun, look up the kids who set a caboose loose on the tracks 2 yrs ago, lol. It ran the whole length of the track til it ran into the children's museum and ruined their display train . Cost a ton of money to repair the damage
Hi Lisa! I've been enjoying your memories and your comments. As one senior to another, keep your positive attitude going!
So cool so that is barley wheat and hops being delivered I guess?
That brewery must be huge on the inside in order to get 4 long grain cars and 2 locomotives in it and then disappear into it.
Schuyler Street
Nice catch! I am planning to railfan in NY and PA in upcomings weeks and I am very interested in NYS&W operations. I was wondering if you could help me... Do trains have some regularity? Is there a train schedule? I am particularly interested in the Syracuse - Binghamton line and the street running in Utica. Thank you!
The City should clear snow better from Schuyler Street so that vehicles can park againsthe curb.
Was the automobile which was moved in foul of the train? The rear automobile appeared to be closer to the track.
26:14 Rare performance of OLD STYLE RULE 14L :)
What is the purpose of pulling 4 cars out, then leaving 3 on the tail track and then putting the first one back in? Can they only load/unload one car at a time?
They may have wanted to remove only cars 2, 3 and 4, but had to pull 1 to get them. Then they put i back.
what's a delivery door doing above the train entrance
If it's only 3/5ths of a mile, why can't the town clean the curbs so residents can park closer & stay as far away from the train as they can in the warmer months? Is the Mayor playing indoor golf when the fairways are closed?
The mayor don't care, he lives in the rich part of the city, where the have no issues w anything
@@lisabishop6266 His Democratic challenger came close. I'm a Conservative but I don't dislike Democrats if they have similar goals to mine. They'll think of things in a different light but we hash it out. Sometimes there's room for compromise &...maybe not. But for the 'falling-off-a-cliff' that most Dems have done & turning their backs to citizens on so many issues, I'd have to say at this time I wouldn't trust them. Now Republicans...that's another bag of worms, that's for another time. Get the vote out, dig deep. I don't like term-limits, the people's vote is always best. Take care.
I was looking at the Municiple Snowplow pic thread on Plowsite, lots of people bemoaning how Utica's Public Works tears up there snowplows & other equipment, blaming it on bad management, poor training, etc. Probably a similar issue here, plus how many of the commissioner's buddies are going to be going along that road to complain if it isn't clear. Spend the resources where the bigwigs and tourists will see it.
Nice shots! When does UT-1 go on duty?
Stopped in a pub there 30 years ago i think it was Frans pub anyone remember the place?
Why would they put the railroad tracks down the middle of a city street is what I want to know.
You'd have to search the history of Utica, NY and the FX Matt Brewery to find the answer.
Why would they build a road around the railroad tracks is what I'd like to know...
History has it they would have a caboose and cab car for employees to ride on through the city to be dropped off better bus stop stations as the trains correlated with shifts.
9:27 vehicle owner, have they ever heard of the wonderous thing called a driveway?
Not everybody has a driveway, or perhaps another resident of the house is already occupying it?
A switch tower? Does it function?
Nice what days does this railroad operate on
Definitely a rail road :):)
What's in the cars, beer ingredients?
Australia !!!! Victoria Middle of summer !!!
I do not understand why they use the horn so much on each occasion. Seems unnecessary.
WTF is there parking on the same street as the train? LOL
What kind of business is that, in the brick building on the corner there, to your right, out of curiosity???
@@BradKempeny really?! Ok. For some reason, I was thinking it might have been some kinda corner store, of some sort or another. Thanx.
9:25 ........move that damn van lol. Must have a lot of patients to street run a train.
imagine being able to sleep because your neighbor parked his car in the street
I know these people see the train multiple times per week/month...but, they truly act indifferent to the situation.. and, not much hustle to accommodate the situation.. if you had a lapel mike on both parties..that would make for some bleeeeped out conversation..lol.
Need a plow on the front to "shift" the automobiles.
Why do they allow people to park on the street?
3040 sounds like a K5la
Your in good hands...well er, not this time.
It's almost that street running is from a bygone era. You don't see it anymore, and people don't know how to react for it.
You see commuter trains running in the streets in Europe. Especially clips where people in cars completely disregard the train's presence, until the vehicle gets spun around during an ill-advised merging attempt
That K5H barely clears
God only knows the condition of the road under that train -
The road sucks!!! HUGE sinkholes and it has destroyed the sewer links to many houses, since the main line is under the tracks!! And no one wants to take responsibility and fix it!
I still have a hard time believing this is not "the movies"... I mean, it's the 21st century... you would have thought the authorities would have heard of Urban Planning and Development... and pure and simple common sense when it comes to where a railway line should be run....!
And that I can tell you is categorically NOT down the middle of a main street... LoL...
It looks really awesome and stupid all at the same time.... personally I love trains and would not mind a Loco going within 20 foot of my front door, but for practicality... it fails ALL tests.
It wasn't the 21st century when the railroad was put in. Would have been considerably less vehicle traffic at the time, and most likely other businesses along the route that would use the railway, or the city would be hoping to draw some in.
They stop at stop signs.
It's the 21st century, locomotives use 20th-century technology, but they still go "Ding-ding-ding!" by striking an actual bell-shaped bell, just like steam locomotives did in the 19th century.
That charms me, somehow.
