      I love the original Rifts, but it takes a lot of effort to GM. I wish I had time to play the original Palladium Rifts! I have Savage Rifts, but current gaming group is my family (will see if I can make it a little friendlier for them) .... but maybe we can look into doing a Savage Rifts video in the future!

    Paired weapons allows you to attack with both weapons same target or seperate target or you csn attack and parry.

    Not sure you can parry missle weapons? Great example of combat though.

      I believe the rule we used was from Rifts GM Guide (Vs. palladium Fantasy), and was -10 to dodge and -6 to parry (parry with a weapon not a shield) for conventional Arrows and Thrown Weapons like knives, spears, and javelins (they are comparing to bullets and lasers). I honestly didn't look it up for Palladium Fantasy .... seemed like it made enough sense :) . So many books and different and often contradictory rules in Palladium :D. I am sure I made some mistakes, but glad you enjoyed.

      NO you cant parry unless your character class allows you to. You have to dodge range attacks.@@TableTopFamilyFun

      @@Ha1cy0n i house ruled that shields can parry ranged weapons, as that makes sense.

    You only need a 5 or higher to hit in melee combat including bonuses.

      Unless someone is wearing armor.

      @@Palladium_Books_Rpgs even with armor you still hit on a 5 or higher. The only difference is if you don't roll over their armor class you do all your damage to the armor's SDC and not their personal SDC.

    I dont understand how you are running this combat. You first roll initiative. Goblin 16 and Thief 1. The Goblin goes first then the Thief. Then the Goblin agian then the Thief. Rinse and repeat until all actions/attacks are gone. Then roll initiative again and rinse and repeat.

      Yea, same. I do not believe the Palladium system is all or nothing. It is supposed to be a back and forth taking turns. Initiative is only to decide who goes first, the first time. With dodges it can be one sided where someone attacks, they dodge, then first guy gets to go again because second guy dodged (used an action/attack). etc. And palladium Fantasy you can parry arrows as long as you have a shield.

      I don't have my books at hand, but I remember playing in the interwoven initiative manner you two suggest.... That said, I kinda really like this approach as a way to speed up (already long) combat and kinda offer a risk:reward tradeoff... If you wanted to add a little more strategery, maybe allow players to "hold" an action for a hypothetical dodge. Either way, I see merit in this as useful house rule.
