How To Make Baklava Greek Style

  • Easily learn how to make baklava from scratch, step by step Greek style. This video will guide you all the way through, while keeping things as simple as possible. Most people think that baklava is a Greek dish, its not though its more Turkish. But I will show you one of the best ways to make this recipe and how to do it easily.

    Ingredients:
    1x box filo pastry (antonio)
    3x cups crushed almonds
    1x cup crushed walnuts
    1x cup crushed pistachios
    1x tablespoon cinnamon ground
    1x teaspoon cloves ground
    1x tablespoon raw sugar
    3x cups white sugar
    2x cups of water
    30x cloves whole
    1x cinnamon stick
    1x small lemon
    1x tablespoon honey
    500g melted butter (unsalted)
    2x tablespoons water
    Syrup Process - to a saucepan add:
    3x cups of white sugar
    2x cups of water
    1x lemon (juice)
    1x tablespoon honey
    2x cinnamon stick
    6x cloves whole
    Mix all together and bring to boil, mixing occasionally. Once thickened, set aside to cool down.
    Nut mix process - to a bowl add and mix together:
    3x cups crushed almonds
    1x cup crushed walnuts
    1x cup crushed pistachios
    1x tablespoon cinnamon ground
    1x teaspoon ground cloves
    1x tablespoon raw sugar
    Construction
    1. Butter bottom of pan
    2. Take 3 sheets of filo and lay in the pan
    3. Brush with butter
    4. Take 2 sheets of filo and lay in the pan
    5. Brush with butter
    6. Evenly layer 1 cup of the nut mix
    7. Take 3 sheets of filo and lay it in the pan
    8. Brush with butter
    9. Evenly layer 1 cup of the nut mix
    10. Repeat step 7, 8, 9
    11. Repeat step 7, 8, 9
    12. Repeat step 7, 8, 9
    13. Repeat step 7, 8, 9
    14. You should have 5 filo sheets left and no nut mixture.
    15. Take 1 filo sheet, lay it and brush with butter. Repeat this with the remaining 4 sheets.
    16. Once you’ve placed your last sheet, add 2 tablespoons of water to the remaining butter. This will make the top shine.
    17. Cut the baklava in 24 pieces and add a clove to each slice (optional)
    18. Cook in oven at 200° (celsius) for 20 minutes.
    19. Turn oven down to 100° for the last 40 minutes.
    20. Remove from oven and straight away pour over the cooled down syrup.

      @@nikolopaa no I haven’t but I do recall watching a relative make a similar one to yours in the past …they never passed on the recipe . I will try yours though . Thanks again

    I have been making this for close to 50 years. Make things a little easier by putting your melted butter in a clean spray bottle.
