I LOVE this video. I do bird rescue, primarily parrots (currently flock of 30), and have 2 Runner Ducks. It's amazing how most of us think ducks are cute, but have no idea how personable and friendly they can be. I just learned about Whistling Ducks, which is how I found this video. They are adorable. Your buddy loves you for sure.
I find it amazing that wildlife come to certain people in this manner. I have wild squirrels that come to me on the patio table and eat corn out of my hand.
Aww i don’t understand why people kill them there so cute I have two because we tried saving some that where in a pool alone we are taking them somewhere where there are many more of those in sad but it’s the best for them. We took them i made a video about them should i post it
Hi here! I know your video is a year old, but I hoped you maybe had some info you could give me as far as black-bellied whistling duck reproduction goes. I have had a hard time finding specific and crucial information online. I have a pair of whistling ducks that have chosen one of my trees to nest in about 12 days ago. They come at Dawn & 2.5 hours before sunset to feed and the female goes into the nesting hole in the tree for about 30-40 minutes. My main question is do you know how long it takes them to lay a clutch of eggs? And do they roost frequently or only on occasion? We checked for eggs about 8 or 9 days ago but there weren’t any in the nest yet. I’m planning on checking again soon. But since she’s going into the nest everyday early in the evening im curious if she has laid eggs and that her species doesn’t roost as frequently or continuously as other species do. I’m located in Tampa, Florida. Any info you have would be great and really helpful!
I can help you from personal experience. I have a pair that just hatched eggs on the bank of my pond. They laid 11 eggs before the pair started taking turns sitting on the nest. Took about a month to hatch. Sadly, only 4 eggs hatched due to predators coming around at night and taking an egg here and there. These are completely wild ducks, but I'm glad they chose my pond to give me this experience to enjoy.
