- As the first-ever stand alone #BMWM performance vehicle in decades, the 2024 #BMWXM is a strange high-performance SUV. The #BMWXMLabel also happens to be the most-powerful production #BMW ever with the 4.4L twin-turbo V8 plus electric motor tuned to produce nearly 740 HP and allow up to 31 miles of EV range on a full charge courtesy of a nearly 30 kWh Li-On battery pack. While the #XMLabel may have a strange name and even stranger design, it packs a performance punch and certainly will tempt anyone with deep pockets looking for something different to drive.

I work in sales at the largest BMW dealer in Texas. We received 6 XM’s for the entire year of 2023 and they all sold. What I can tell you is that the type of buyer was not your typical X5M buyer (which is usually someone coming from a smaller M model and needs an SUV). So I’m not sure why so many people keep comparing the two. You mentioned in the video that you don’t understand the comparison to the G Wagen, well those are the types of people who are buying XM’s. Nicely put, they aren’t car people.
Interesting, this is exactly what I thought. Value is up to what people are willing to pay. This seemed to me, to be, ... Dunno how to say it... Like a luxury bag or something. People spend 30K for them or more, because of perceived value.
It's not targeting x5m buyers.
Some used to think this was -ugly- unattractive but then Tesla showed what ugly really looks like.
@@Soldadummy correct. It’s all about image with the XM. The guy I sold one to never owned a BMW before. He traded two vehicles, a Trackhawk and GLE 63s. He never asked the typical M car buyer questions. His biggest concerns were how the exhaust sounds, all the lighting features.

I saw and sat in one of these at an auto show last month and i was a lot more impressed than I expected to be. hate it or love it, it has serious presence. And the interior is top-level BMW quality. I wouldn't be mad at someone buying this.
Before people judge this car you have to see it in person first. It looks way better than in pictures

……In L.A., $180,000 is often spent on a KITCHEN REMODEL! (my neighbor spent $300,000 on his kitchen remodel, his stove (alone) was $82,000.). Some places like L.A., Miami, and NY are simply on another level. 🤔😎🤷🏼♂️

I know it’s not the fastest but man. You have to drive the car for yourself, this is the heaviest fastest car I’ve ever been in. If you crash it’s going to be like a bomb man.

Actually, I saw one and didn’t know what it was. I took a few pictures of it, but that one was the base XM it seems. She’s a jaw dropper for sure. WOW!
I was lucky enough to spend a weekend driving one. Let’s just say if you’re an introvert, the XM definitely isn’t the vehicle for you 😂.

My 2007 Volvo VNL SEMI, has the same patern on the interior as XMs ceiling liner.
What I find strange is that based on all the negative online comments, I was expecting to get the hate out and about my city but it’s been the complete opposite. I’ve never owned a car that has attracted so much positive attention in the short month of ownership, and I’ve owned a lot of amazing cars.

I can barely afford the car I have but if I was shopping for a car this one would not be on the list because there is no Pano roof. If I am paying 6 figures for a SUV I want a pano roof.

@@marcusvisionI work for BMW. I’m not sure why some people think the XM was supposed to be a volume seller. It’s not, it’s a halo model and very expensive at that. Most dealers only received a few in stock. You’re just not going to go to your local BMW dealer and see XM’s lined up on the lot like an X5.

What’s the difference between this and the IX. Because they look very similar
IX is a full bev and a bit smaller. This is a phev direct from the M division and meant for performance.
@@jeffs6090 All true, but the iX M60 has been shown to achieve a 0-60 time of 3.2 (BMW claims 3.6). So, off the line the iX M60 is just as fast. Though it does have a much lower top speed. The iX M60 has air suspension as well. And, I think the iX might have more interior storage space. But, I doubt many people cross shop between the two. I have an iX xDrive 50 and I love it. I could have almost bought two for the price of this XM label model. I did see an XM at the dealership and it definitely has nicer finishes and quite a presence.

Here in Canada the XM starts at $246,344.20 and is available with 22" or 23" wheels. Winter wheels are the 22" ones at just over $10K a set of 4. Snow tires are extra...

I thought this higher trim package was called the Red Label, not just Label. Going on their site to build one, and it is just Label. That to me sounds really stupid. It should definitely be Red Label since the XM logo is in red, you can get the exterior trim in red, you can get red trimmed wheels, and the interior trim and seats only come with the red on them.
Plus, for this much money, you still don't get ventilation for the rear seats. X5, X6, and X7 should all have that as an option, yet they don't. Also, BMW needs to add a digital rear view mirror to each of these.

Love your reviews. BMW has lost their way again. Chris Bangle first took them down the Fugly car route and now they have amped it up. No longer have the exclusive differentiation like they use to as the "Utlimate Driving Machine". So many other choices now.

I wish BMW would just build a functional purposeful, off road capable SUV with a least a rear locking diff that you can actually tackle the ruff stuff? I don't understand their logic with building just high performance vehicles that don't really do anything other than "go fast"? I know they had a real locking diff on the first generation X7's but they discontinued that feature? Build a stand alone real SUV/SAV that can go off the beaten path? Make it rugged and purposefully capable to climb, Wade thru water, crawl, and go anywhere? Tired of seeing senseless vehicles that are one dimensional? Thank God for the INEOS GRENADIER 🎉

I love this car but the red accents are awful. That may be why they got rid of the ‘red’ label name. Not everyone loves red.
The red accents are still available as a no cost option, however it’s not standard like the press photos showed. My dealership is receiving one that was ordered by a customer, that’s arriving next year. Matte black with red accents.
