I LOVE your channel and the projects you make. So good to see something different that 1000 other channels seem to make over and over again and they all look the same. Being new to woodworking I try to make things that are original. I spend a lot of time learning what each tool in the shop does while then trying to perfect the skills needed to use those tools to make original pieces. Thanks for the inspiration.
Best ever!! I see Christmas presents in my future! BTW I have to wonder, where do these 30 to 50 random people come from, who watch the videos and give a thumbs down? I pray for them daily!!
You have a gift in videography, audio mixing, design, construction, and entertainment. I see you having a role in Hollywood soon. :) I watch your channel because it's so interesting, mentally engaging, and downright entertaining! ^5
Audio mixing? Really?! I had to turn the volume up and down throughout to cut out the annoying music and hear what's being said. Here's a tip: the less music the better. Of all the people that are interested in woodworking, only a fraction will share your taste in music. You may think it sounds great but to most people it ranges from uninteresting to outright annoying, especially when you start "mixing" like that (ie, turning the music up louder than the dialogue. I'm annoyed. Can you tell? :-)
@@nagualdesign You are literally the only person that has complained about the music for this video. I would say being the 0.003% probably means it is your problem.
@@shaunboydmadethis Really? You think that, based on an absence of evidence, 99.997% of viewers share your taste in music? Try watching this video while imagining you don't really like the music, and see if the volume going up and down bothers you. Or don't, and just keep telling yourself that everything's great. It makes no difference to me.
Well Shaun , the genius or not of anything built or invented is purpose. If purpose is fulfilled and at the same time turns out to be cool then I guess you nailed it once again even if you only used magnets. As usual very nice.
That’s really cool. If I had something like that in my house I would no more than set my coffee down on it and it would get knocked over either by the cat, the dog, my daughter, or the more likely... myself. Great looking project once again Shaun.
Love it! At first I thought it was completely unnecessary, but as I watched I realized I have the perfect spot between my sofa and recliner that this type of thing would work perfect for. It will also be used for my beer making it multi-use.
That was brilliant, love it! I think I should like to try making a hiking/camping version coffee table so one may sit with one's coffee when outdoors and have somewhere nice to set the mug. I'm not a savage, after all :D
You are my furniture design hero! When I saw the drawer being built I lost it! It appears wide enough for a cell phone to rest on if it could ever be pried from peoples fingers thus I say this is brilliant.
I don't have a strong opinion about the size of coffee tables. I did, however, enjoy this video! I learn so many small lessons from your work so thank you for taking the time to share it!
Thats ace. You should hook up with some of the senior hiker groups. They all carry those walking stick / seat things when they need a rest. I would bet they would also like a collapsilbe cup rest to go with it.
Nothin but fun! Thanks for “standing” on it at the end... as I was laughing at the “annoyed finish face”, I was thinking he won’t be climbing on this one... then the solution was revealed. Loved it!
I tend to think of myself as a very pragmatic maker, I usually build with function and use in mind. Yet, I found something about this build exceptionally beautiful, despite the "impracticality" of it. Thank you for making this and showing us.
Since you’re back, I just had to revisit this thread, and video… 96.25% unused space. That just kills me all the time! Love your partnership with Foureyes but you doing SBMT again is a great thing! I’d love for you to do more absurd designs!
Genius. My coffee table is always covered with the wife's stuff. I may try to mimic this design at some point. Whacky design....maybe. Conversation piece... definitely!!!
every home needs this (except the ones with kids or pets) ... I'm thinking solid brass or steel bottomfiveinchesoflegs to keep it from being top heavy. This was awesome; thanks!
Wonderful idea! Now you can build a chair, that will have the space for sliding this table into. Or make a chair with “one coffee cup drawer” in the armrest?
Hahahaa! This was pretty funny but there also some good techniques shown. I recently did a tripod lamp with that same joint and it took me a bit to discover I could turn my sled around and use the other side of the blade to get the other 60 cut ;)
Love it! I'll never make one. But it's a great idea and a great project. It's very inspirational. And even though I won't make one... I really want one now. LOL
I like the idea of a one cup coffee table. I was ready to "complain" that you didn't stand on it, but I was wrong and glad it didn't decide to collapse on you. Although you could have been doing some camera angle tricks.
just discovered your channel, awesone stuff! this triggered ideas...a coffe mug with table legs epoxied to it...combine the sliding dovetail segmented table with multiple single cup sized pieces, for when you have company!
I dig it..! I think a " backpack " version would be a great addition to this line of design... Give it multi function such as the "one cup" " stove stand" " camera stand" etc... I can see this design if tweeked a wee bit filling the gap...
I can see this being a huge hit for the Millennial outdoorsy type folks! You just need a small heating pad so your coffee stays warm and a solar panel to power it! Oh, don't forget a coaster. Maybe that drawer could pull out to set on top as a coaster! Did Jonathan take your magic funnel? Ain't seen it in awhile.
This is just perfect! I'm in the process of making an easy one time use easel and I think this concept is perfect for it. Thank you for the inspiration Shaun!
I saw that on page 24 of your absurd furniture line catalog, but did realize the scale until you were standing on it. I was going to order four, but now I know I will need to order eight of them so I can gang them up for parties.
I love this so much! Big coffee fan and have always thought it would be great to have a place to put my coffee while in my shop that isn’t on the workbench I’m working on.
Pulling out the drawer for the one sugar packet was the best!
Haha, can't forget the sugar.
Agreed!
This is the best! Great work bud! If anyone is curious, I personally witnessed Shaun stand on that and there are no camera tricks involved.
As Jon as my witness.

I think Greg could also vouch for Jon. Just saying... where is Greg's $0.02?
Sounds like Shaun hacked the Katz-Moses account again..

the world needs more humor and beauty like this!
I love how innovative and utterly ridiculous this coffee table is! I need this in my life!
Haha, thanks Christine!
That drawer should hold one coaster. Dammit! Use a coaster!!
I almost did that! I thought it would be funny to pull out a walnut coaster to set on top of the walnut box. Might have to add that as an option.
I have to agree. The coaster is mandatory.
@@shaunboydmadethis Or some kind of fancy maple (spalted, quilted, birdseye) for contrast...

A very nice video, loved the Mr Rogers part. The piece has a lot of artistic value.
