I was started by a guy called "phuzushukela" in the 1960 ,that's about 60 years ago, yes the guy was Zulu , however it doesn't make maskandi genre a Zulu cultural music. Think of it like this , say I am Zulu and I start genre called Amapiano in 2020 , this doesn't mean that the genre amapiano is now a Zulu cultural music. As you may know our Zulu culture and traditions is hundreds and hundreds older than that. They type of music that can be categorized as Zulu cultural music is sacred ,significant , like the must be a portable sacred purpose to sing such songs and is not commercialized like maskandi or amapiano . Zulu cultural music includes type of music like "isigudu" , "amahubo". .for example "amahubo" is the type of music or sounds that worries would recite just before confrontation an enemy , you see Zulu cultural music is sacred and it must invoke something from within us , because it like carries nature and spiritual subsistence
