Honestly,I can't believe they're still pulling the "kidnapping" thing off even after this game and 3D World
Having her playable would allow to develop more interesting stories,new Characters to work with,would attract more female fans and it would just be a better choice in general
Peach is a victim of what I like to call "reverse Sakura effect":
You have a Character who can be useful,has even their own Powers (in Peach's case,you have the emotions and the Star Powers from BIS and Dream Team),but you treat them like they're useless

Peach has been a recurring playable character in Mario games. The only reason she is still kidnapped os because Mario isn't really a story game, they never bother changing the story because it's never intended to be the focus of any of their games.
