Text: Friedrich Christian Heyder, 1677-1754; tr. The Lutheran Hymnal, 1941, abr. Tune: “ICH STERBE TÄGLICH” - Emskirchner Choral-Buch, Leipzig, 1756; setting: The Lutheran Hymnal, 1941
We sing this song at my WELS Church.. I come oh Saviour to thy table. For weak and weary is my soul. Thou bread of life alone art able to satisfy and make me whole..... Lord may your body and your blood... Be for my soul the highest good.. 🍞 🍷
My childhood days when all LCMS churches were United and you knew what you received each Sunday and full every Week. Packed full on Christmas and Easter Ressurrection Sunday! Even Candlelight service brought out 150 people in ours that held 350 Capacity.
This is not specific to this hymn, but could you please record the old Liturgies for those of us that miss it? Thank you!!! (Especially This is the Feast!)
One of my favorite communion hymns .

It’s so sad now 😢
Beautiful song!!!
I am LCMS and truly miss the 1941 hymnal. The one after that is ok, LSB only setting three (communion service from 1931).
Setting 3 is, in my opinion, the only acceptable service. Call me old school but I loathe all others.
I agree 100 %..love the Lutheran Hymnal.
I whole heartily agree
This is my favorite hymn. It's very explicit about the true nature of the Sacrament.
Beautiful

Gorgeous!
Love the art, too.
I'm non religious yet this takes me back to Missouri synod Lutheran service
Your welcome back anytime. :)
Come back brother. We need you.
What congregation was this recorded at?
This was from the 2017 Higher Things Conference at Valparaiso University, Indiana
