campbell has been the entire league's punching bag and it makes me genuinely really sad. like yall wonder why he fell so hard but then refuse to acknowledge that yall literally made his life a living hell. no shit he's gonna fucking fall, yall treat him like hes not even a human being capable of feeling - when the entire hockey community is collectively ragging on him, its no wonder he hit such a hard wall. if i was in his shoes id be terrified to even skate in public - yall were ruthless and just refuse to accept that yall were just bullying this guy and using his bad season as an excuse to be terrible people. sure, yall dont have to like him , and im not saying yall cant criticise him, but a lot of yall took it way too far and were just straight up being assholes just because it was cool. if the world ended i am positive some of yall wouldve found a way to blame him for it. i notice it a lot, but this community treats players like little stationary action figures, rather than like living breathing humans. idk if yall know this, but these players are like... real people, theyre not just a stat sheet on elite prospects or something. like, they do one thing wrong and suddenly its okay to wish death on them and their entire family... all over a fucking sport. its ridiculous and genuinely pathetic - some of yall seriously need to seek therapy or smthn

If you have two QB's, you have none...same applied to the oilers goaltending. Campbell is a starting NHL goalie but mismanagement by the Oilers rendered him the sacrificial lamb

I think he's done just cause of his contract. Nobody else is gonna take an AHL goalie for that much money and he's gonna be hard pressed to break back into the Oilers top two unless there's an injury to Pickard or Skinner. Poor guy. It's funny to say poor guy to a guy who has 25 mill in the bank, but there it is.

Have they, though? Their goaltending is still a question mark. Not long ago, it was Samsonov who was sent down, after outplaying Vasy in the playoffs last year.

0.920 in the AHL is not good for a top paid NHL goalie. Can we stop trying to make Jack Campbell happen? He needs to be putting up a 0.960 if he is to be considered playoff caliber in the NHL.

  • @natev580

We went through this with Loui Eriksson in Vancouver: paid 5 or 6 million a year and was hopeless. Finally got sent to the minors. The problem is the idiots who give long-term deals to unproven players. This is especially true with goalies. I would have thought the famous Rick Dipietro contract would have changed this. Guy is still being paid millions per year until 2028-2029 and has been retired for years, lol. Worst contract in the history of the NHL. Btw, Dipietro is 42 years old!! Who thought he could play til he was 45... who thought they could afford to pay him for this many years?
