With the 14 ft square stern Sportspal (not the wide stern) will a 20 inch shaft outboard still be appropriate? I know you confirmed for the side motor mount, but I am concerned that my Suzuki 2.5 HP may be too long on the narrow stern transom. Your input really appreciated.
Hey back, some of the older models don't have any keel on them. If you contact info@bwmarineproducts.com They will be able to get some to you. If you find something elsewhere just make sure you use stainless screws to stick them on. I have a video showing the installation. I can send link to email as it's a fabrication detail only.
I put a 70's johnson 5 horse on a 16' wide transom. Pushes along nicely! Transom is old and ready to replace. A bit of flexin!!
Flexin she was. Gonna reinforce the transom and have another crack. Only got 3/4 throttle

I think it should be fine. The square stern is actually an inch or so higher than the wide transom. Just a guess on my part though. Hope it helps
