Not something to be laughed at. 1. He was "on the scene" for 17 years, a decade longer than Jim M or Bon. 2. INXS were responsible for at least 5 great Aussie albums, successively.

No, I didn't. His vocal range wasn't expansive but who cares. He expressed emotion with a generous topping of soul. He was never meant to be a male Mariah Carey...To me, he was the perfect singer.....Wish I could've told him.....:(
Totally. These days you have tons of wannabe-singers who hit perfect notes on TV but can't craft a proper song (Hutchence's contemporary George Michael described that very well a few years back).
Hutchence's ability to switch seamlessly between his "chill out" and "boom" voices (I'm unable to find the exact/correct terms) defined the sound of INXS heavily.
His vocal range not expansive to your standard may I know how's yours...
Based on what I remember from his biography he didn't rate himself highly as a poet, he said words to the affect he had to work hard to come up with good lyrics. He certainly has written some good song though.
Still one of my favourite INXS clips - This is the epitome of an Australian band creating the feeling of a truly Australian video clip.

I recall Michael saying how hot it was there in south Australia on the salt flats.This clip captured the Australian outback like nothing else .

So lucky! They were before my time sadly. Michael died exactly a month before i was born (R.I.P. my idol and inspiration) but I've loved them all my life and would do anything to have been able to have gone to Wembley. If you look at my profile pic youll see i recreated his iconic Wembley jeans for the Don't Change INXS tribute concert that came up here a few months ago. They were amazing and did INXS proud but I would still give anything to be able to have seen the real thing. Oh for a time machine 😂
Andrew Farriss says that their 2 favourite/best gigs of all were summer XS, and Sydney in October 1988 - their first concert back in home town after world KICK tour........I was lucky enough to have been there 😉😉

Bigger than the Beatles, bigger than AC/DC, bigger than U2, bigger than Bruce Springsteen, bigger than Metallica, bigger than Michael Jackson, this band was on a trajectory to the very top. RIP Michael, you were truly one of a kind and your music will live forever. This song imo is the best of the best that they ever produced.

My mum played INXS when I was a child, but I never knew the name of the band or song....I JUST REALISED THAT I RECOGNISE THIS SONG FROM WHEN I WAS 7 YEARS OLD! 10 years later, still remember sitting on my mum's shoulders while she rocked out to their songs. Wow, the nostalgia is real.
This song reminds me when I was on deployment in Antartica. 13 months straight. During the winter we used to climb all those mountains to see the beauty of that place! The anthem for my deployment! This song will always reminds me of what I experienced there!
