There’s a difference between catching vs trapping a kick. The Kung fu guy wasn’t catching he was eating the kick and then trapping it which is not preferable 😝
It's sanda rules, eating a kick and dumping them means the kick do not score. If it was a street fight, one good dump and its over.

I can't believe the commentary from Chiavallo and Parr, what idiots. So impressed with Cheng's "step up sidekicks", none of which had any impact on Marwyn. Most of them didn't even reach Marwyn. Meanwhile Marwyn is landing everything he throws, evading Cheng's strikes, tossing Cheng to the canvas. Was this before Parr started fighting Muay Thai? it's like he knew nothing at all. I don't know why you'd take up kung fu when you could learn Muay Thai and really learn to fight. Kung fu seems like more of an exhibition sport. Anyone ever see Bruce Lee actually fight someone?
Using your logic, why even bother to learn muay thai when you can just learn mma? Im not gonna lie, muay thai is simple superior, but not everyone can endure the level of competition and rigourous training tht takes to be a muay thai warrior. Just bc you took 2 weeks muay thai seminar, aint going to make you beat any sanda fighter (kung fu).

Later on, Cheng’s strategy isn’t working as well and his tools look limited. I think elbow pads is a fair trade for no takedowns or other throws that a wushu sanda fighter would have in their arsenal. That’s if the idea was for a hybrid of styles. But the ruleset the two fighters agree to is what you go off of.

i think chengs whole strategy after a while was just to clench and push marwyn to the ropes and hang on for dear life until the ref separated them. cus thats mostly what he did.

Liu Hailong - King of Sanda quite easily defeated the three-time champion Muay Thai fighter, he threw him all the time like a doll, even threw him out of the ring 3 times and the ropes of the ring did not save him. Robert Kaennorasing even had a bruised face, and Liu Hailong's face was clean, which means that the Chinese's blows hit the target more and had more power.

What does his opposition to representatives of outdated traditional styles have to do with anything at all? Moreover, it was mainly decrepit old men who were inferior to him in the weight category that came out against him.
It will probably be a great discovery for you that almost any representative of any traditional martial art will lose to modern mixed martial arts. For example, Kudo will win Okinawan karate.

There is no Chinese martial art that can beat Muay Thai. Cheng had nothing going for him. His "step up side kicks" were completely useless, Marwyn saw them coming every time. Cheng is lucky Marwyn took it easy on him in the final two rounds. Cheng was gassed by the end of the 3rd.
Fighters beat fighters, styles don’t beat styles. Other videos exist where Sanda fighters win.
You are very mistaken, in most of the videos where Wushu Sanda fighters fight against Muay Thai, the representatives of the Sanda win much more often. And on the street, 1-2 throws will turn out to be very dangerous for Muay Thai / Kickboxing / Karate / Tdk / Boxing fighters ... because there is no soft surface.
Wushu Sanda, Kudo, Sambo and other similar martial arts are superior to Muay Thai as they are closer to a real unsportsmanlike fight.
