  • So I went in pretty skeptical but Kneesovertoesguy Ben Patrick has changed the way I look at building strength and resilience. A year after my first experiment with trying to “Reverse Out Knee Pain”, I was back but this time I wanted to add some load to the equation. I didn’t want to lug around a sled or try building some random KOT (knees over toes) sled alternative contraption. Then the idea struck me...
    How about a running parachute? They’re cheap, easy to carry and already designed to give runners wind resistance. Could this be the KOT sled alternative I was after?

      Honestly the greatest gift he gives is just the idea that you have the power to improve your knee pain. Just having that little bit of confidence is the first step toward progress.

    I walk or jog backwards up a few of the steep hills in my neighborhood. Switches the focus of the muscles in use. Especially today on my walk cool down that hill is daunting head on, with tired legs. I'm glad you had fun experimenting with the parachute!

    Knees Over Toes Guy👍🏻. I did some backwards hill walking recently. I agree with you Kori, I stop at the sled. Great attempt with the parachute. Let us know if you find something better. Maybe drag a bucket of cement w resistance band, but then who is going to carry a bucket of cement around?🤷‍♀️

    • @KoriRuns
      @KoriRuns  Před rokem

      Exactly! I think the weighted tire sled is probably the best homemade option at this point but it requires hauling around a tire and weights. I've actually found a manual treadmill at my gym that has resistance options, which is the easiest option.

      I can attest to the success of Ben’s program. I subscribed to his program for 3 months, did all the exercises and my knees are like brand new. Went skiing recently and I was amazed - zero knee pain after 3 full 6hour days on the mountain.
      I originally started with his stuff on CZcams, like ROKPing up a steep hill. This one made the most difference. Right now I use the treadmill at the gym - leave it off and walk backwards against the resistance - works very well. After 10min your legs are shot. But the hill makes the biggest difference.
      His other exercises in his plan on top of this will literally bulletproof your knees

    Great video! I need to check out the Knees over toes guy. So, I guess the parachute idea is similar to pulling tires. It looks like the parachute requires too much speed for me.

    I have a 60lb weight vest I drag and works pretty good.. I can pile a couple of plates on them of I need to. if you drive to the park maybe one of those sand bags they use at crossfit could work. I have been following him and his team for almost 2 years.

    Personally I can't buy a sled but my alternative is pushing a big tennis bag back and forth in my hallway (which is quite big) and the surface is ok and gets the job done and I go backwards with sled straps that's it nothing crazy
    Edit: And obviously if I need weight I put plates inside of it and when I push it I fold the edge of the bag so that I have more space for my legs when I push it forward.

    Kori, I walk on a treadmill in reverse with the power off for a few minutes in intervals a couple time a week. I feel like it's worked great for my knee pain and to strengthen my quads and knee stabilizing muscles. Running downhill used to kill my knees but now it feels great.
