    Creation is such an interesting thing! I've always felt that you have to possess a certain amount of technique or vocabulary to be able to create. The most creative jugglers I've seen are also the ones that can do the standard tricks with exceptionally clean technique. Once you understand how a prop can move, and does move, then you can start exploring how to make it move in new and interesting ways.

    What Wes does is turn a physical skill into a wonderful visual art form. Videos by jugglers like Wes are as beautiful as a Matisse or a Picasso to me.

    I juggle because of him. It's true, I have seen another technical juggler and it's really impresive I can't denied.
    But when I see wes peden, he make me feel like he is doing so much more than juggle and art. And THAT it's what blow my mind.
    When he said we have to go deeper means more about thinks ourself and our juggling and what is the thing about being a juggler and what kind of juggler we want to be.

    I juggle because I find it to be pure fun, every part of it. Even the process of learning new patterns and dropping them over and over until I finally get it. It's just a pure form of playing to me. Something that I do constantly absolutely for the fun of it. It allows me to play everywhere I go, and if me playing happens to be entertaining for others to watch as well, that's just awesome.

    This Video is really nice :D I "copy" some Tricks and do some technical stuff too but I almost always give them a slightly different touch or try to do them different, but I think you have to get some technical or "coppied" stuff get your own tricks, when I started I coppied much more and did much more technical stuff but the better you get, the more you find your own style and tricks ;)

    Wes probably doesn't read these comments, but in the hope that he does: I am wondering how you came to your answer of the question you answered in circus school? Did you go through a very structured process or was it just a feeling? I am wondering because the video triggered me to try and answer the question for myself, but I don't really know how to and maybe there are more people with this problem. A very inspiring talk btw :)

      MeesJager I think it was more about the feeling, but this is just a feeling about it, I'd love to hear wes on that :)

    I liked the beginning but I disagree in some points at the ending. I don't see why we have to "think deeper" and conclude that we should be complete originals. Maybe the "unoriginals" already have thougt deeper? It would be very naive to think about yourself that you are a complete original in my opinion. We are all products of our surroundings so let's be proud of the community instead of keeping the focus on ourselves. It would be really sad if we weren't affected by other jugglers.
    I basically don't like the judging on people's minds when we can't actually read their minds. We don't necessarily have the same goals which means that we can't always logically relate to each others choices in juggling and I don't see any reason not to accept that.

    • @Malabarismo
      @Malabarismo  Před 9 lety +5

      Malthe Jerup I'm also more inclined to think like you said.
      actually, sharing and being inspired by other jugglers has a really important role in our learning process and in our community sense,
      in the end, we're a big mix of our references, everything we see and we like, and ourselves... and this is amazing :)
      what I really liked about creating this series, "circus chats" is that we can hear different points of view on all these questions
      thank you so much for your comment
      (I'm on a big rush this year during weekdays, wish I had more time to answer you, but anyways, better smth than nothing. thanks a lot Malthe)

      @ZakMcallister Před 9 lety

      I could not agree with this more. It's very difficult at this point to be a complete original with your work. Even in Tony and Wes' The Devil Stick Video, it's not complete originality. Did they invent the devil stick? No. But they did apply their own twist, making it, in a way, original.

    • @csantmanromeo7696
      @csantmanromeo7696 Před 9 lety

      Zak Mcallister exactly! Even his juggling isn't completely original, don't get me wrong Wes's juggling is extremely unique but some of the tricks have been done before.

      when I watch a show :I'm way more interested on seeing your presence on stage and what's unique about you as a being than on where'd you learn this or that trick...
