The fact this seems to be one of the first computer games to delve into the wealth of W40K lore and actually be a great RPG/tactical battle game as well means this is instabuy for me. Can't wait till release day!

@@hungmarin 40k is bar-none my favorite fictional universe, and I've wanted a choice-driven RPG in the series for SO long. Also coming off the high of BG3 I'm SO ready for a TBRPG taking place in the setting.

While Owlcats first two game were very Baldurs Gate, I love how they added in a lot of Fallout Tactics for this one.
With Baldur's Gate 3 and WH40K: Rogue Trader 2023 is a GREAT year for CRPG fans! I hope the former's great reception has made more people interested in at least trying out Rogue Trader, so it can also benefit from BG3's success.
This game seems pretty good by itself but godly with the potential of mods
I'm just glad they included ship combat. The early images I saw focused on the ground battles and didn't show any ship fighting. I hate it in RPGs when the party or protaginst has access to an armed ship but ship combat is limited to cutscenes instead of having playable ship combat.
I hope the ship combat is fully fleshed out and not an after-thought.
Judging by the Pathfinder systems (city management, crusade management) it'll be an afterthought. @@Corusame

I cant wait for this game. I played the alpha for a little bit, I wanted to keep going so bad but at the same time I didnt want to spoil my experience. It was difficult to keep myself away from the beta later on but I managed and now we are almost there, release next week. Finally a proper WH40k rpg
Good early review video. Thanks for pointing out the slow start to the game and how things pick up later. I usually give up on a game if it doesn't resonate with me after an hour or so. Knowing that things will improve means I will persevere past that point. The game, after the slow start, sounds like just the sort of game I enjoy, even though I'm not a big fan of the Warhammer 40K universe. It's now on my wishlist thanks to this video :)
You're not alone - if I didn't force myself to keep going, I might have given up too! It's a shame, because it does find it's rhythm shortly after the prologue - I just felt it could have got their quicker. There's also just a lot of systems that don't get introduced even in the first chapter - so some exciting things to look forward to once you get your teeth stuck in.
Well if youre warhammer fan its very good. But yeah the game start very slow. By the end of act 1. Things get very crazy, story and mechanics wise.
I've been in a biweekly game of the Rogie Trader ttRPG for over a year now. Is a really great setting, and this game looks as if it will hit the spot. Tha ks for what came across as a very balanced ans fair "preview".
It looks like you played an old beta version. Alot of this bugs been fixed, and alot of new added :D
Followed playthoughs of the alpha and beta, this game will be GREAT! More Pathfinder, different scenario but still the sytems are there. I will buy the game on launch!
Its so funny how everybody's opinions can be so different.
I was enthralled from the very beggining and loved the bits of action that was scattered throughout. This is from someone with zero warhammer knowledge, so maybe thats why.
Our opinions converge on just about everything else tho, absolutely amazing game, Addicting combat, atmosphere that reqlly transports you to the location.
Cant wait for the full release!
Heard that in the full version once you pick your portrait the game will change character model to premade one that match it. i don’t recall where I heard this though.

I think we're all quite used to a bit of 'warm it up and grind it out' for an hour or two now with so many games going that route, so i'm happy it really picks up after that. Been looking forward to this for such a long time, sounds like its going to be a great addition to the 40K universe.
I was started to have serius doubts about my credentials... killed me.
The game its great... if you enjoy tatical turns like Xcom and Wasteland.
I will buy it in 3 years, when the Definitive Edition will be on sale. I recommend you do that with all games TBH.

can you have more sisters of battle in your party? or any other character such as adeptus mech, etc?
Already bought on steam. I hope they add more voice or some narator to read the huge amount of text at the beginning of the game. For now I parked it until release

I had no idea this was coming. After the unplayably bad controls in martyr im very eager for a warhammer rpg. I think it's a travesty we don't have one yet that rivals poe/diablo/etc. This looks amazing, and i can't wait!
I really wanted to like Martyr - but I just found it so difficult to play. It's such a shame, 'cos a well made 40K arpg could be bloody excellent.
I love like around 00:11 unit character stuck in sitting position and was moving...
I know nothing about the warhammer universe, but i want to play the game. Love crpg games. I only know its always bloody war. Totally blind to this game. 💀
Once you get through the prologue which shovels Warhammer details on you at each turn, the game does ease off and its very enjoyable even with a lack of any Warhammer knowledge. If you're a fan of combat of Turn Based combat in CRPGs - this is one to keep an eye on. Think Black Isle Fallout games, but with even more misery, war and religious fanaticism.
I wish i could experience this game as a new Warhammer fan. i think that will only increase your enjoyment bro!

It'll definitely scratch the XCOM itch. The combat doesn't feel as refined as other WH40K tb games (ie chaosgate - which is another solid pick if you like XCOM) but I find RT really fun. The low time to kill and boltgun being 10/10 make the tempo of combat feel good, although some fights in big spaces can drag on a bit.
yeah you’re gonna want high ballistic skill and perception if u want to hit anything at range in this game.
Once I got a few levels in and raised those stats, it did get a lot better. Was fairly comical in the beginning though - all those guns but nobody knew how to use them.

I think i should point out that you can go Chaos (you even could get chaos companion lately in this case, afaik) or F the Emperium routes in this game. For instance, i formed an alliance with certain Aeldary faction. Played up to 3 act in the beta. So, you can play this game quite different, not only dumb E side. But, combatwise, its kinda easy - once you lvl up a bit and undestand how the math works - you can one turn bosses. But, same things are possible in their other games. Tiranids are ingame, btw. But, in any case, its definitely got WH 40k feel mostly right. As for the protag being useless at start - its your problem, not the game. Psykers are op, but Cassia is even more op af. P.s. but if someone is having problems with reading stuff - the game have a lot of text, like their other games. Still, i would choose it over pos like BG3 easily, esp if you like WH 40k setting.
I am more excited about that one than I was for BG3. BG3 is just another DnD game with better graphic. But this one? WH40K CRPG? Yes please!

The fact that you say, "even humour in a Warhammer game", speaks volumes. You really don't understand Warhammer do you? It's always been grim, dark, British comedy... You're meant to be laughing!
This isn't really true anymore. Sure there are still satirical elements to 40k, but it is a lot more serious now than it was in the 80s or 90s.
I clearly don't! The Warhammer games I played, they did seem to take themselves fairly seriously. This strikes a good balance. It has that moodiness, but I was laughing from time to time. I'm glad I get it now - and I think this is going to make the franchise more appealing to newcomers, which is only a good thing.

I wish they would change their engine. The look of pathfinder really took me out of it. All the characters look like army men toys to me.

I love death metal, but having it in the background while doing a preview is NOT great. Instant headache trying to process both the insanity of the music and your information at the same time.
This developer have a history with releasing console games badly? If so which console would be best to get it for besides PC?
I love warhammer 40k but all of their games just look so cheap and sort of not complete the only real AAA 40k games we ever got are space marine and soon to be space marine 2 and dawn of war and dawn of war 2 the rest are indie games with 60$ price tags
