  • We all think about stretch marks when we're pregnant. While genetics are a big factor, there are products and ingredients (like shea butter) that help ease our skin into the stretch we get from our bellies expanding. Now that I'm pregnant with baby #2, these are the products I'm currently using on my body to prevent stretch marks and take care of my body! What products do you use to prevent stretch marks? Let me know in the comments!

I got stretch marks on my hips during my teen years. I was way too young to notice this then and didn’t do anything about it. During my pregnancy I used Palmers Cocoa Butter Moisturizing Oil every day and I didn’t get any new stretch marks at all. I also kept my self hydrated.

I found the last few weeks as the baby dropped very low is key to applying the products just above the pubic bone helped. Stay out of the heat & sun; it's very drying & dehydrating during pregnancy. Watching sugars & carbs helps. My 2nd pregnancy with my daughter was brutal on my skin & "love handles". I wish we had better information then. Good talk, Susan.

I've never been pregnant but I feel like I've learned so much from watching these videos! For example I'd been having this dry, patchy and painful skin on the back of one of my hand. Just one, which I found odd. I put jojoba oil followed by a lotion that contains Shea butter on it. But it wasn't getting any better. So when Susan mentioned Aquaphor. I thought if it can be helpful to a baby's skin maybe it could help the dry skin on my hand? And within days of using it the skin on my hand became softer and smoother. I am more than pleasantly surprised! And I'm glad she mentioned a serum for the body. I had been wondering if using a serum followed by a lotion or moisturizer would be just as good for the body as it is for the face? I heard someone once say that the skin on the face is different than the skin on your arms, hands, legs and feet. Which I can understand. But they were responding to being told that Jennifer Lopez used La Mer on her whole body. And saying to only use products that were intended and formulated for the body on the body. But I'm going to look into that body serum. I'd like to to add that to my own self care routine.🙂

My dermatologist gave me vitamin E cream and while my stretch marks were still red and fresh, I applied it and now I don't even see them!
I gave up after a month or two because I thought it wasn't working so very few of them are still visible.
I was Young and didn't really know what was happening , my dermatologist just said 'it's because you're weight is increasing'.
The vitamin E cream worked wonders but I still wish she explained it better so I wouldn't have stopped using it.

They have lost their strong deep red color and are lightened but are still very visible. I’ve done some research and am currently using physical exfoliants, retin-A, and Shea butter. I am about a month into this ‘treatment’ and feel like theyre starting to fade but it might just be me. Does anyone have any tips?? I’ve looked into chemical peels that seems a bit intense. @@gladystony1857 I actually DID make a scrub after watching this and checking out the Ren product ingredients! The oil itself left on was too sticky for me, but I'm very fussy about touch type stuff, so maybe it wouldn't bother most. The scrub is basically oil with coffee grounds and oatmeal and some other powders, glycerine, and I melted in some emulsifying wax into the oil. And obviously, Magnesium. I used Magnesium Chloride, powdered with the other powders, because it absorbs faster, and I don't have the tub to soak in, like with Epsom salts. Because I added the emulsifying wax, the scrub turns into a rich cream on wet skin. I'm super happy with it! Hope that was interesting to you :)

@@THEdelkaimek I was 17, I think it's mostly genetics. My mom had my brother and I when she was 18 and 19 and had no stretch marks and then had my half brother at 32 and had a lot of stretch marks and stretched skin. But my grandmothers had stretch marks and one had kids at 15 and the other at 16

Hi! I enjoy watching your videos; however, not all of your videos have captions considering I am deaf. I would like to learn more about how you prevent stretch marks with body skincare products.

You can just pour some epsom salt in your bath! You don’t need to use expensive products

Years ago I actually saw where someone recommended putting Epsom salts in your bath and soaking in it for 20 minutes at least 3 times a week. The reason given is that there is magnesium in it which is needed for over 300 biochemical reactions in your body. I had no idea how beneficial magnesium was until then. So what you are saying is true.🙂

      Yeah, but I don't have it a tub :(
And magnesium oil is meh and kind of sticky, a scrub is the perfect way to deliver it because it's on the skin long enough (depending on the form of magneium) and then you wqsh it off, so :)

      @EmorettaRobinson Před 5 lety +3

@@EH012 if you don't have a bathtub and want to use the scrub, then by all means do so. No one is saying not to use the products that Susan mentioned. At least I'm not saying that. I'm saying that soaking or bathing in Epsom salts can be very beneficial because of the magnesium, which our bodies need. But there are other methods of getting that much needed magnesium. I've also heard someone say that she applies a lotion with magnesium in it at night to help her sleep. I don't know how much magnesium is in the lotion and can't recall the name of the brand. But that person said it was helpful for her. By all means find a product that is beneficial for you.

If scrubs are not good for your face why would you use them for your body?

    • @Luvanmusiq

balqaysa aden I think maybe because the body skin is thicker? Maybe turns over more slowly? Not sure.

The skin on your body is thicker and much much less sensitive and it can handle scrubs while the skin on your face is thin and delicate.

Only the belli scrub has it.. and it's been backed by science not youtubers or articles written by who knows who.. that it is safe in cosmetics and body care as long as it's something that is being rinsed off( which a scrub is rinsed off)... here.. read. Maybe it will help you understand. I was also reading a lot of false things on the internet. It's just marketing schemes that companies with all natural ingredients like to use to scare people. Now I like to listen to people who have actually studied and understand science. There are great biochemist youtubers as well.. I only know of one right now. Her name is Kenna. Anyway. Here you go.

Susan Yara , hi there! I wasn’t referring to your chest being red. It appears that your foundation has more of a yellow-tone. However, you are still gorgeous! And I really do enjoy your channel.
