Personal life and education
Babi was born in Junagadh and did her early schooling in Aurangabad and later attended St. Xavier's College, Ahmedabad. Her father Vali Mohammed Babi, a Gujarati Muslim, was an administrator with the Nawab of Junagadh. Babi was born fourteen years after the marriage of her parents and was the only child.
Parveen did not marry but shared intimate relationships with married men: director Mahesh Bhatt, actors Kabir Bedi, and Danny Denzongpa. Parveen was also rumoured to have a relationship with her co-star Amitabh Bachchan. Mahesh Bhatt later wrote and directed Arth (1982), a semi-autobiographical film about his extramarital relationship with Babi, and wrote and produced Woh Lamhe (2006) based on actual facts about his relationship with her.
Career
Parveen was considered to be one of the most successful Bollywood actresses in the 1970s and was known for her portrayal of iconoclastic women who did not care about the conventional norms of society. She made her film debut with film, Charitira, in 1973 while still in college.
She was the first Indian actress to have been featured on TIME magazine's cover, in March 1977. In her most successful films, she was paired opposite Amitabh Bachchan, who was one of the biggest stars of the decade, in cinematic blockbusters like Deewaar (1975) Amar Akbar Anthony (1977), Shaan (1980), Kaalia (1981), and Khud-daar (1982).
She was often compared with her contemporary Zeenat Aman due to their common image of being sex-symbols. In fact, she acted alongside Zeenat in Mahaan (1983) and Ashanti (1982) (inspired by the American television show Charlie's Angels, with the third role played by Shabana Azmi). In films like Deewar (1975), Shaan (1980) and Namak Halaal (1982) her screen presence may have been minimal (the films largely working around the hero) but Babi brought a certain attractive aloofness to the roles and songs she appeared in. In Manoj Kumar's big hit Kranti (1981), she stole scenes with her supporting role from Hema Malini, the heroine of the film. Babi also acted in offbeat films like Vinod Pandey's Yeh Nazdeekiyan (1982).

एक समय था जब उनका नाम डैनी डेन्जोंगपा के साथ भी जुड़ा था। दोनों के बीच यह रिश्ता करीब 4 साल तक चला था। दोनों ने ही अपने इस प्रेम को कभी नहीं छुपाया।
एक दिन डैनी ने यूं ही, मस्ती में परवीन के घर पर रखा हुआ शंख बजा दिया। परवीन असामान्य रूप से घबरा गईं। तब डैनी को अहसास हुआ कि कुछ तो गड़बड़ है। वर्ना उससे पहले उनको परवीन की मेडिकल कंडिशन का कोई आइडिया नहीं था। वो जब तक इसका पता लगते तब तक बहुत देर हो चुकी थी।
उस जमाने में अमिताभ बच्चन और डैनी अच्छे दोस्त हुआ करते थे। इस बात की जानकारी परवीन बॉबी को बिल्कुल भी नहीं थी। एक बार परवीन बॉबी ने एक मैगजीन में अमिताभ का इंटरव्यू पढ़ा। जिसमें उन्होंने डैनी को अपना बहुत अच्छा दोस्त बताया था। जब परवीन बॉबी ने अमिताभ बच्चन का वो इंटरव्यू पढ़ा तो वो काफी हैरान हो गईं।
इसके बाद परवीन बॉबी अमिताभ पर खुलेआम आरोप लगाने लगीं कि वो उन्हें मार डालेंगे। उनको अमिताभ से डर लगने लगा। तो जब डैनी घर आए और दरवाज़े की घंटी बजाई, तो परवीन ने दरवाज़ा नहीं खोला। चिल्लाकर बोलीं अंदर मत आना, तुम अमिताभ बच्चन के एजेंट हो। इसके बाद परवीन बॉबी ने डैनी से किनारा करना शुरू कर दिया।
Iske baad जहां डैनी किम को डेट करने लगे वहीं कबीर बेदी परवीन बॉबी की जिंदगी में आ गए। बताया जाता है कि डैनी से रिश्ता तोड़ने के बाद भी परवीन उनके घर आया-जाया करती थीं और उनके बेडरूम में ही बैठकर वीसीआर देखती थीं। डैनी परवीन की इन हरकतों से काफी हैरान और परेशान थे। उन्हें लगता था कि परवीन उनकी गर्लफ्रेंड को जलाने के लिए ऐसा करती हैं। डैनी ने परवीन को ये सब करने से माना भी किया, लेकिन परवीन ने उन्हें कहा कि वो बस उनकी एक अच्छी दोस्त हैं।
इनकी ऐसी बातें सुनकर सिर्फ इनके दोस्त ही नहीं बल्कि रिश्तेदार भी परवीन बाबी से दूर रहने लगे। इसी दौरान चेकअप के बाद पता चला कि परवीन को पैरानॉइड सीजोफ्रेनिया नाम की गंभीर मानसिक बीमारी है जिसमें इंसान को वो सब असल में होता हुआ दिखने लगता है जो सच नहीं होता।
