Ive owned 9 different boats over the years I never had a broker it's not the crews fault he called the boat in it's totally wrong sending the crew off with no money there are minimum wage laws the law says you are soposed to get minimum wage regardless of profit it's illegal not to pay the crew

It’s the same around the world. All deckies do free work. Mending nets/lines, working on boat and working for free until the owner and skipper get their pockets lined
Its becuase most of them are convicts or uneducated and cant do much else , so they get taken advantage off, if they all took a stand they would get paid more captin cant do it alone

31:37 the guy was tossing the beeper in and mid throw was told to wait. that was following orders, not lack of anything. chris places blame on everyone but himself. he has completely thrown the first rule (which is set in stone by the way) the captain is responsible for ship and crew. man overboard? yup that is the captain's fault.

Barnegat Light is awesome. I lived on LBI most of my life working commercial boats back in the 90s and 00s. I learned the hard way how much damage these boats really do the ecosystem. It's disgusting the amount they aren't showing you. Like dolphins turtles etc on the hooks. I get the money aspect but these boats are the worst
Hardly... most sea turtles arent riding those temp breaks for food. Eating sea weed and jellyfish.
Plus, there is draggers. Now THEY ARE THE WORST, as 1 drag can collect 70 tons!
@@billt6116 you obviously have never been on one of these boats and seen what really goes on. The fact that you don't think there are turtles out there tells me everything I need to know about your knowledge
