Documentary written, directed, and photographed by John Gordon Hill about the Klondike Gold Rush. Episode of Rediscovering America with David Hartman for the Discovery Channel.
Outstanding video. Thanks for posting. Remember David Hartman from back in the day. He does such a fine job perfect voice for this kind of documentary.
3:18 George Carmack is related to my family, The carmacks are very close cousins to my father's side, He was 2nd cousin to my Great-great-grandfather Mint Elbert Barton, Man, finding out about your family is interesting, I visited George Carmack's Grave in Seattle, Washington June 5, 2022 (100 years after he died) and I payed some more respect to George Carmack. I plan to go back around September, to see him on his 161st birthday, may he rest in peace though.
Great historical reporting, the best I have seen on YT about Klondike gold rush!

David Hartman did a great job of bringing old Yukon back to life!
I thought so too. Better than his GMA days.

From my experience, all the gold in Alaska and Yukon was picked up. I did a lot of panning and never even found a flake of gold.
Nicely done!
Thank you!
Video made the gold rush come alive
Him: It was the gay 90s
Me: 😂😂

I would like to see all the gold they found formed into a single cube. I bet it would weigh less than just one of the horses they worked to death!
I've been to 40 mile chicken eagle tok Taylor hwy dawson city .
The greedy bastards deserved all they got. Grief.
Yukon is in Canada not U.S
The Yukon River spans both countries
This is remembering Canada, not america

Why rush in winter and why mandate that much equipment having to go up and down 30x. None of it makes sense.
People in the past were desperate and nuts! I wonder how any of us are here. Madmen and crazy ladies made it all happen.
