I grow 2 ancient variety roses with tons of scent, and make a lot of things with them. My favorite is rose petal milkshakes with the fresh petals. I also like rose basil pesto and rose jelly. I can't wait to try this recipe.

I like the idea, but i think because the rose petals are still fresh, there will be water in them which can mean bacteria can build up if its not removed. Think it would be best to dry the petals first, so they have no water left in them either by hanging or another method of dehydration. This will make the petals much easier to crush and reduce waste and it will make the end result last much longer in the jar. It may even give a stronger colour pigment. I guess experiment would be good. Another suggestion would be to use some melted beeswax with the coconut oil so as to make a richer product and one that will maintain a more solid form when the heat rises as coconut oil turns to liquid in warmer temperatures. Or it could be kept in the fridge to maintain its solid form and this will also preserve it for longer.

It’s the most beautiful and unique video of lip balm I have ever seen. Bravo 👏. By the way, I use to dry the rose petals in sunlight and crush them in mixer grinder till it gets to a powdered form. Then I use them as a face mask with aloe Vera gel or curd. Next , U use the powder as hair mask with curd or coconut water . I am having 40 plants in my garden which I have created using waste in my kitchen. It gives me relief from my heavy office work routine . I will try your method on coming Sunday holiday definitely. This is amazing!! I am now making candles which I want to tint with rose petals (I want to use your method for this as well as make lip balm now too..) I also love drying rose petals and adding them to my baths, and infusing them into body oils :) Rose things are so expensive to buy too, so much better to make it on your own!

My suggestion would have been to dry the petals completely and then powder them finely and then use coconut oil like you. Maybe you didn't have the patience for all that.
