- On Tuesday, the Board of Elders at Gateway Church, a multi-site megachurch based in Southlake, released a statement saying they accepted Morris' resignation and plan to conduct a thorough "review of the report of past abuse to ensure we have a complete understanding of the events."
There is no such thing as a "sexual relationship" with a 12 year old. There is only sexual abuse of a child here.

When I was about 19, I went to my mother's trusted gynecologist for treatment of a yeast infection caused by medication. I won't go into details, but it wasn't until years later with other doctors that I realized the first doctor - who was fully dressed and in the room alone with me and no nurse accompanying - had digitally molested me. By the time I would have had the maturity and courage to do something legal about it, he was deceased, so of course, I relinquished my pain over to The Great Judge, the Lord Jesus. But here I am a 75yo and it still makes me cringe for what he did to me in my virginal and inexperienced sexual innocence, and probably to other naive young patients when no one was watching. There are some vile predators out there robed in clergy garb, respectable suits, doctor scrubs, daddy duds, teacher frocks, and all manner of normal apparel who prey on the most innocent among us.
It will all be revealed Someday, maybe sooner than we expect. Blessed be the Name of the Lord.

Happily attended Gateway Church's Frisco branch until a female pastor started controlling and falsely judging me. After years she finally left. I was planning to go back as I enjoyed Pastor Robert's sermons. The only hitch was that I no longer had a car and couldn't drive there myself, so I watched Pastor Robert on TV. I'm saddened over this. / I appreciate Pastor Kevin Zadai. He, his wife and their team, came to TX for a conference last weekend. / You can never go wrong helping the poor, the widows, single parents, the elderly, the homeless, etc. Keep giving as God leads you. Your relationship is with Him, not your pastor.

Many incarcerated persons are survivors of multiple forms of trauma & abuse, especially of the sexual variety, and most especially, during childhood and in the formative years.
Most, if not all, prisons have a prison chaplain, whose purported job is to counsel people & to offer spiritual guidance. It's of the utmost importance that this person be of upright moral character, as he/she will more often than not, be viewed as a role model.
I find it perplexing that you don't consider spirituality to be a core aspect of being human. You are, of course, entitled to believe whatever you choose.

Incarcerated persons, as much as any person, have the right to and will benefit from strengthening their spiritual awareness and consciousness. This often has a direct correlation with helping a person who has been convicted of a violent crime develop greater empathy for others, especially for ones that have been victimized in the past.
Helping a convicted person develop a greater capacity for empathy towards others is one important step towards rehabilitation.

I remember that era all too well. I grew up in the 1970's. I was a shy 14 y.o. girl with my sister at her in-law's house when a 37 y.o. man who was a friend of that family made a pass at me right in front of eveyone there. You could have heard a pin drop in that room after he said it and clearly we all were super uncomfortable. Then someone quickly changed the topic of discussion and that was the end of it but I felt revolted that this MAN did this and I just wanted to be a kid again. The 70's were a very weird and scarey time to be a young girl and too many men had lost their moral compass. Brooke Shields' testimony of that time was spot on and the way young girls were seen and treated then was stomach-churning. Many have forgotten what it was like then but some of us can't. My heart goes out to this woman.

I think you missd the part where he admitted it. What he admitted to is and always was called statutory rape under the law. Yes, it's painful to hear this about him. I've listened to him before and enjoyed his preaching very recently but that does not mean we get to judge his sin and let him off if we're so inclined. That is for the law and ultimately God, to judge. The Christian thing to do is to cry out to God to bring this man to repentance for that which he's talked about numerous times over the years. Then cry out to God for the healing and restoration to their faith in GOD of all those who Pastor Morris and other have alienated from GOD, not just "the faith" over the years.

What a sad state of affairs - church affairs. In this day and age, the question is this: which church leader has NOT engaged in inappropriate sexual behavior?? With SO MANY getting caught and reported now, that's probably the easier question to answer.
