I have ran and participated in DaW Battles using a Krieggspiel Full FoW and limited communications. I highly recommended it especially if you are going to play digitally. I have used the campaigns rules to good effect though it does have the blessing and curse of lots of info to keep track of. I wish there was a simpler way to track domains in Acks though my limited experience may be my downfall there. Its a great system though and even better when utilizing Krieggspiel elements and lots of players all working for their own goals. My big ambition is to run a Fantasy Late Roman Civil War either using the Auroan or my settings rome analog Reme.
I would like to know if the Demihuman troop templates given are so sparse because alternatives don't exist in the Cybele setting, or simply because additional compendiums like BTA weren't written yet. I am quite fond of the Dwarves as described and would be interested to hear if a Dwarven Company fully kitted out with Automaton Armours or similar would be something that is reasonable. I've tried doing some calculations regarding it but most of the time I reach the conclusion that it would be prohibitively expensive in terms of effort (requiring a platoon of fairly skilled machinists) to maintain even a small amount of Automaton Armour or vehicles. Then again, Tooth to tail ratios exist for a reason, right?
By This Axe had definitely not been written at the time that I created Domains at War. So, for instance, it doesn't include dwarven troops riding bears, nor does it have automaton troops. You can definitely create them, though, using the rules at the back of D@W: Battles.
Will these systems be changed by the Imperial Imprint edition you will be kickstarting this summer? I really enjoyed your book, only recently heard about ACKS, and plan to back the kickstarter.
No, Domains at Battle is 95% unchanged. Some of the spell names will have changed because I'm dropping the Open Game License, but the core mechanics are not affected.
Can the system handle other time periods such as: - Pike & Shotte (15th century-ish, Italian Wars, 30 Years War) - Hussite Wagon Fort tactics - Early modern / Napoleonic (as well as different firing strategies than simple volleys such as firing by sections, sharpshooters, etc)
It can handle Pike & Shot via the supplement Guns of War. It probably could be adapted to handle Hussite Wagon Fort tactics. I think Napoleonic would be a stretch and probably requires a different approach.
Will the rules demonstrated here (for the tabletop miniature game) be included in ACKS II? Or should people interested in using it as part of their TTRPG campaign purchase DaW from DrivethruRPG?
Domains at War: Battles is separate. Maybe 50% of the ACKS audience uses the tabletop wargame rules vs the more abstract mass combat rules so I figure it's essentially a supplement rather than core. We'll be doing a D@W related KS in the future.
No, this is a separate product that builds on top of ACKS II. The system included in ACKS II is very robust but it is not an online playable boardgame like this.
@@TheArbiterOfWorlds Ah I worded my question not very precise: I am not interested in the online playable boardgame, but in the wargame on a real table. I also asked the question on the kickstarterpage: iost Domain of War: Battles a part of the rulework in ACKS 2 or only Domain of War: Campaigns and I need to buy Domain of War: Battles to enjoy the wargame as showed here (again: on the table, not online/on the computer...just wanna know if the rules are in ACKS 2 or if I miss out something if I do not own DoW:B)?
NGL You've surprised the hell out of me with a browser automated D@W simulator
Oh, really like the consideration of relevant hero to current scale, that's cool.
Damn. This is going to make learning DAW so easy.
The HD/HP explanation is pretty cool, but RIP my Cowvelry.

You spoil us sir.
That tabletop simulator is great. Hope it’s coming along well.
It's humming along!

Congratulations Alex!!! this is AMAZING
Thanks so much! I can't wait to continue to push it forward. It'll be a huge asset for GMs who want to do mass combat on VTT.
@@TheArbiterOfWorlds I say it is revolutionary 🙌

Apparently you are playing Stronghold Kingdoms according to CZcams lol. Very fun show Alex! Thanks.
Where does it say that? That's hilarious!

I just realized that is Joan of Arc on the DaW covers.
Yes! Amazing piece of artwork by super-star artist Michael C Hayes. He has done a lot of famous work for Magic The Gathering.

I pledged for the new ACKS 2 Kickstarter Campaign (Demigod Pledge Level). Is this all showed here part of the pledge?

Do disordered.troops take.more damage?
wow that game developer seems smart
He's smarter than me, I don't know how he pulled this off.
