In this interview, Julie poses questions to Dr Lena Tiemeyer (Reader in Hebrew Bible) about sexism, gender, feminism and the Old Testament/Hebrew Bible.
Gonna go ahead and post this here for the men with enough patience to comprehend it:
The hebrew translation of Gen 2:18 where it says “help meet” in the KJV is “aid”
*aid*: help, assist, or support.
Woman fits a role that a man cannot do without, Bible (and science) testify of this fact. So why woman are seen as “less than” due to being designed for help is mind boggling and clearly the work of the satan.
she was “created to help” ADAM WASNT ENOUGH ON HIS OWN? The image of God? No way. Almost like Adam’s image isn’t the full image of God. I wonder why the baby is *created* in the woman.
“God created man in His image, in the image of God created he him; male and female he created them.”
Jesus tells us we need to be born by the water of the womb and the water of the spirit. So there’s a spiritual uterus? Interesting stuff. Sounds pretty gender bent to me bro.
My point here is if you treat a woman less than because you feel she is only there to help you, *you’re blaspheming God* on the same level as treating people in poverty less than because you have money. *We are all created in His image.*
its sexist perversions like “God created women to be helpers to men.” that led the Israelites to believe they weren’t blaspheming God in the post fall Old Testament days. Adam and Eve were in the garden! God did all the work! The only help Adam needed was help in maintaining the garden and creating life.
Which goes back to this detestable idea that women can be treated any kind of way. Eve had the same job as Adam. Eve was created in the image of God. Start acting like it, and stop acting like *extremely long list of men that treated women like objects and it caused them to blaspheme God in other ways*

Genesis 3:16
[16]To the woman he said,
“I will make your pains in childbearing very severe;
with painful labor you will give birth to children.
Your desire will be for your husband,
and he will rule over you.”
That last sentence keeps disappearing when there's a discussion about men and women. In creation we were equal, in sin a separation was made. I have yet to find scripture that says this was changed.
@@blaqued5186 idk where “you will desire for your husband and he will rule over you” translates to “mistreat women” but thats the issue with being human. Too much free will, not enough critical thinking.
And let’s clarify my standpoint: I don’t believe men and women are equal, in the same way I don’t believe creation and judgement are equal. You need one for the other to function. The Bible and science make it clear women and men are not and will never be equal in any way, but they also confirm that isn’t a bad thing.
Jesus was sometimes rude towards women including his own mother. See John 2:4 and Mark 7:27 as just two examples. How do you feel about this behaviour?

When you read the torah and the books up to 2 Samuel you start to see a pattern. Its the women that dont have children or the ability to conceive that get the time and opportunities to connect with God. Almost like relationship EXPECTATIONS are a stumbling block for us.
After Jesus sacrificed His life to be the Pesach lamb, women were exposed to a new kind of man. A new kind of character that does make us equal in faith and action. However we are born into sin with sinful eyes. We need to believe in Jesus for the blood and the mud.
If I've heard it once I've heard it a thousand times. " your taking that verse out of context you have to read the whole bible to understand that verse". Again these brainwashed hypocrites try to justify their good book with all the bad stuff in it. I quit discussing the bible with people I found that 99 percent of them have never read the book but they know what's in it. What a scam.

Did you read what led to this? Hopefully context matters to you. Adam didn't lead as he should and the reward was fair.
There are consequences to our actions, those were Eve's. And Adam? Well he was cursed that he will live to be dedicated, work hard and provide. Anything outside of this, a man is miserable. He will get no free pass, his sweat will reward him. A man MUST work and build a legacy otherwise he is nothing. Such pressure doesn't exist for women.
A woman on the other hand can sleep around, waste her youth and still bag a nice guy to provide for her. Talk about sexist right? Women get periods and pain at childbirth but life is easy because you sit on the very thing men want, and by it you dictate the terms. Wow, you're very oppressed

This is why I embraced Sikhism which is a modern faith that has 100 percent equality between men and women... not like the Abrahamic faiths. From a Sikh perspective the ancient faiths have parts of the truth but not the complete truth.

Sexism according to what authority? Why must we submit to your view of women’s roles? When the Bible describes women they are described as being a sufficient helper to man, possessing their own glory that is codependent to man’s. They both require eachother, the human race cannot exist with one without the other. In terms of authority, men are above women, man was formed first and given the role of head/leader and so follows the family structure, the decision making, etc. Only in this tone-deaf modern western construction where we now have more individual autonomy(as a result of the progress of man’s efforts) are these modern claims of sexist etc. thrown around, yet you benefit from centuries, millennias of this structure. This rhetoric seeks to flip the paradigm and make man subservient to women, you will destroy mankind by attacking the nuclear family, by undermining man’s role as leader and protector. Look at the modern western world and what they have done to the family unit. The divorce rate, abortion rate, the voices that lead our youth; we are falling because of these disgusting ideas.
The bible warned us about this and they said those things for a reason and women are proving them right. They are openly being blasphemous, distorting and changing the bible and cherry-picking what they want to support their evil. God made things this way for a reason because he knows the nature of women and the destruction and evil they can cause.

yes you can be the provider and she can be the nurturer but i hope you're aware that it can go the opposite way. When the bible talks about roles it is written in historical context so things such as sacrifices that where seen as exceptable has changed hence the new and old testament. The thing that makes you christ like is not being a subservient wife or a provider and masculine man no. Those are thoughts polluted my society to creat problems and division dont demean yourself because your husband whants you to stay at home or if your wife expects more from you if esther or ruth did that they the bible wouldnt be what is is now. Follow God only look up to him follow his TRUE words which is to evangelise and spread the word of God. You don't have to get married or have kids, actually the women who were barren in the bible where actually the strongest ones the ones who fought with Jesus in his battles. Aslong as GOD is TRULY your first love your position in heaven is secure, he will give you directions and if getting married and finding a spouse that will join hands to fight battles (main purpose) is what God wants for you then so be it and follow his words but remember its a choice not your value. another reason for marriaage is because God said dont have sex if you want to a sex then get married. The child breeding thing is also a problem we tend to forget that the action of breeding is both a male and female responsibility they both have to partake in intercourse hence the "our child" not a "her child." Both man and woman hold a high value in Gods eyes. One can be a leader and so can the other.

@AWP Mortis I've never heard of that. Of course people shouldn't get the same pay for fewer hours. Anyway, I'm not necessarily talking about modern feminism, but feminism in its truest and original form - "The theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes." (Merriam-Webster).
