It’s not really Bridgeton, they’re both set in the same time period but the stories I believe are different.
Tell me you aren't aware of a whole genre without telling me you aren't aware of a whole genre.
The short movie that inspired the movie was released before Bridgerton in 2019, I like to think that both stories take place in the same universe and that the characters could meet at some point

@@hi-ve1cw I joked about the movie's lack of historical accuracy, but it gets one thing right: In 19th century England, there were at least 10,000 black residents in London alone. and people of Asian descent have resided in Britain since the 1600s. Most members of both groups were lower class (poor), but still, they existed. I wish someone would tell their stories.
@@ladydi1079 yes, there were 10,000 black people in London during the 19th century, out of a total population of one million. So that's only one percent of the population. And the number of asians in britain was even more miniscule. This drama would have you believe the non white population of britain was like 50% lol

I don't know why people are harping on this so much. It's fiction. Obviously, it's an alternate reality romantic escapism story with pretty outfits and not some deep recreation of the time period.

This came before Bridgerton. Its just made longer now. Plus this is period fantasy. It's not an actual period in history but people wearing it. Plus, they actually respect the accents, mannerisms and fashion. And it's not based on an actual historical novel but a recent romance novel.
Hey, if the last samurai can happen, or karate kid with less accurate portrayal of the culture (not history, culture) I don't see why this can't happen? Same way Shakespeare wrote and made a play about a bunch of ancient Romans.
Because its fictional like the Last samurai, not supposed to be historically accurate.

This is basically season 2 bridgerton but in movie form Hope the author got paid because every scene is identical to bridgerton
I thought it was a remake of pride and prejudice. I think this concept and movie has been done 39 million times already. No one can claim any of it.
Bridgerton is not exactly original. Regency era love stories have been around since the actual regency era and Bridgeton does not own the time period.
@@evahorgan7633 your correct the time period isn’t controlled however if you watch season 2 bridgerton they have the same exact scenes for example the lake scene another example is the horse scene I could go on but you could just see for yourself

@@farriot6013 no it wasnt. The plot too simple and predictablr and casting just awful, put me off, their acting was so over the top. It felt like i was watching a satire or SNL sketch. It's a shame really, trailer looked really promising. Oh well 🤷🏻♀️.

Some of the scenes in this movie were made in Castletown House Celbridge Ireland, .remember well when they were doing the shooting for it and all the props but it didnt appear in cinemas in Ireland .

No. Because the past was extraordinary to many of us. It wasn't and isn't JUST the past. The entire world was very very different. It brought something that CANNOT be replicated. Secondly, it is very interesting to be immersed in a time we've never been. It's fine you don't like it. I am just confused as to why you're watching a trailer of a Genre type you yourself hate. It makes absolutely no sense...

This was a beautiful movie. So good to see a mix of color too. The Asian lady was hilarious. Everyone's performance was great. Love the plot and the drama wasn't so sad.
Why are you people so insistent on rewriting history to claim that europe was in any way diverse prior to the 20th century. If this was being done to any other culture everyone would call it cultural appropriation to have such anachronistic casting

Dear ladies and gentlemen thank you so much for your wonderful and romantic movie which is a novel adaptation. I reallly enjoyed watching it. After seeing a couple of films with sad and distressing finals recently that made me made cry finally ı watched a movie with a happy ending and that made me so very happy,lol. I'm truly mesmerized wih the loveley natural environment of The Great Britain and also glamorius beauty of all those young ladies in your film. I had always dreamed to marry with a British booty romantic lady pretty much without no qualifications when ı was young but unfortunately ı had never met someone like that before. Arrogancy and vanity might be percieved as repulsive negative values in our society obviously so ı understand that we have always to try to be humble or modest as much as we can. But there's no problem with to be a clumsy Smurf ı guess,lol.Ladies are always the winners i believe, once again thank you so much, with my best.
This is just Dangerous Liaisons, if its protagonists weren't scandalous 18th century libertines, but the most proper denizens of the Bridgerton TV show. Which good for those are into that sort of thing, but I personally think it's pretty lame.
huh, actually I was thinking more John Tucker Must Die or even Mean Girls. I can see the Dangerous Liason comparison but the fact that they were libertines and were doing what they did out of boredom and a general disdain for society instead of specific revenge on one person who has behaved unkindly at the least, I think hampers the comparison.
I would've gone to see this movie but not now. Oh well.....

Why do you want to be represented in a european period drama? Indians already have their own historical dramas in bollywood, east asians have kdramas and cdramas and jdramas, why do you want to be in european historical dramas too? The number of non white people during this time period in Britain was absolutely miniscule, why do you want to be represented in an environment where you would not have historically existed?

Just make a 21st century drama and put all nationalities there! It is completely historically inaccurate that a black man in that day and age would’ve held such a high position in society. I have the same feeling about Bridgerton and don’t even get me started on the new Persuasion adaptation!
