    Great review! I have seen other reviews on the setup of the Evanston but this is the best I have seen with direct setup points. One review on the setup shows staking the tent at the beginning of the setup vs yours showing it occurring at the end. The other videos look like the individuals were having difficulty in their setup. I love how your setup is more simplistic. I bought this tent and will be using your video to assist me in the process. If you ever decide to do a video on how to attach an additional tarp to cover the screen room and the best method of securing it, I would love to see it. Again good job on the review. Your attention to detail should assist you in doing reviews far beyond tents. You obviously have a knack with formulating instructional videos. Thank You

      @Robear Thank you so much Robear! I'm glad that you like the videos on the channel and the details too, it means a lot that you think so! 😊 Hmm actually if you're camping somewhere windy, you might want to stake it down lightly at the beginning of the set up to prevent the wind from blowing the tent away and also to help you set up some of the poles. But otherwise, you can just stake them down nearer the end of your set up 😊 Glad that you find my method more simplistic though! I'm happy to hear that. I'm glad that you got this tent too! Let me know if you ever have any questions yeah? I'll be happy to help you out in any way that I can! And noted on the tarp video! I'm not planning to do that yet as this channel is currently focused on just reviews at the moment, but if I ever do create that video I'll be sure to let you know 😊

    Excellent review! I own this tent. We chose to seal all the seams on the tent before we used it. We have used it a number of times in wet and in VERY wet conditions and we've yet to have a leak. Staking the front of the tent is critical. If you are camping on hard or rocky ground it can be hard to stake the front of the tent. When the front of the tent is not tensioned properly it can be difficult to get the screen room doors open. I am 6'4" tall and it is all bending over all the time. We will eventually upgrade to a larger tent, but for the money our Coleman Evanston tent is just what this review says it is. This is an excellent tent for the money and, if you think ahead a little and seal it properly it will keep you dry while also being very well ventilated! Thanks for another great review!

    • @CampingGuidance
      @CampingGuidance  Před rokem +2

      @covenant11 Thank you so much for sharing! Glad to know that after sealing, the tent won't leak! 😊 And yeah I agree with the screen room doors! Another of my Coleman screen room tents don't have the additional stake loop for the screen room, so it's even more difficult to zip the screen room doors open and shut. And oh wow you're so tall! (I'm envious!) But yeahhh bending over all the time is definitely not the most comfortable. I think the only Coleman tent I have that will accommodate your height is the WeatherMaster! The rest of my Coleman tents aren't as tall. Alternatively, I think cabin tents would be a great pick for you too! (When you upgrade.) I totally with your review and comment as well on this tent, and thank you so much for always taking the time to comment on my videos, it really helps the channel 😊😊😊

    I believe because of the permanently opened large screened window in the back, this would allow a kerosene heater to be used in the tent and not have any CO2 issues. Possibly even cook indoors.

    • @CampingGuidance
      @CampingGuidance  Před rokem +1

      @Robear This tent does have quite a bit of ventilation when I used it, but I'm not sure about cooking indoors (I usually never do that) or the kerosene heater though (I only camp in summer, so I've never used a heater), but let me know if you do try it out! I'd be interested in hearing your experience 😊

    this was a great review. I was very tempted by this tent, because I am so frustrated at virtually ALL the tents available, having mesh walls and ceilings - I live in Wisconsin where it is COLD, and I do NOT want all that stupid evil ventilation at night when it is COLD! thanks to your review, I found out even this one also has a whole back wall that is just mesh. I could not tell before, thought it might have all normal walls with just window for ventilation. Do you know of any affordable tents that do NOT have this terrible mesh instead of walls and ceilings? I have 2 Eurekas, & used to have a Coleman Montana - LOVED the bathtub flooring so much, and room for my queen blow up bed, plus a chair, table and gear. I need it affordable, with the tarp flooring, and no mesh walls/ceilings. 3-6 person would be good, as I am 6' tall & can't stand it too short. thanks again for the great review!

    • @CampingGuidance
      @CampingGuidance  Před rokem +1

      Hi Cynthia! Thank you so much for your comment and for sharing, I really appreciate it, and I'm glad that you liked this review 😊 Glad that I could show you what the mesh walls of this tent look like! The marketing pictures online can definitely be deceiving and not show the whole picture. But oh man I tend to camp only in summer, it's super hot where I am, so I really love lots of mesh and ventilation, and I haven't had experience camping in anywhere less than 80-90F. :( Hmm but I've had some viewers share with me that they managed to use this tent in the cold, by guying out the rainfly of the back wall really close to the wall of the tent, so there's hardly any room for the cold to get in there. Is that an option for you? Otherwise, would you like to share with me your budget? I've actually just recently tested the REI Base Camp 6, there's very little mesh, a full rainfly, great waterproofing, 6p capacity, I can stand up fully in it, and it fits all your needs except for budget. Could you wait for the May REI sale (it might go for 30% off) and snag this tent while on sale? Or would something else less expensive be better?

    Please help!!!
    Got the 6P Evanston out of storage and set it up
    However, the porch zip front bottom half is almost on the floor.
    It appears the porch pole may have stretched the mesh roof too much so that the front section doesn't have the tension to 'stand' straight up anymore. So one has to really stoop to get in and even opening the zip is a pain.
    Also the dome tent zip didn't zip up and we had to painstakingly push in one tooth that was aticking out. Hope it stays that way.
    One Con I'd add to the Review is the zips at the bottom of the porch going up, which allows insects in if not tightly shut. A bathtub of 6 inches, like the Dome Tent part, could've solved that problem.

    • @CampingGuidance
      @CampingGuidance  Před rokem +2

      Hi again Mr. B! Hmm I don't think any other brand would make footprints for Coleman tents, because footprints tend to be exact match for the base of the Coleman tent. I actually use just inexpensive tarps (like those blue ones) to keep the tent base clean. It doesn't have to be an exact match, it can be slightly bigger than the base, but you've gotta fold the excess fabric back in underneath the base. I think I mentioned all the dimensions in the video, but let me know if you'd like them again or if I missed out any!
