- 4.5' by 8.5' layout. A removable tunnel/hill is planned for corner area opposite the bridge turn section. curves are mostly 031 and 042 with some 027. NOTE: improvements have been made - please go to: • Improvements to Frank'...

Note: the video was just put together quickly with no editing or fixing sideways phone video. It was just done to show a relative an idea of what I had done at the beginning of my layout. So don’t be surprised if you wonder why it looks like a less than amateur job. NOTE: improvements have been made - please go to: czcams.com/video/MgEFLknncoU/video.html
No worries. Nice layout with the space provided. Good work, friend ...
Fact is, Lionel;'s '027 gauge is "S" gauge rolling stock that runs on "O" gauge track. So, that track is of couse " 0" gauge.
"027" refers the the radius of Lionel's 027 track.. which has a tighter radius than their "O" gauge track.
027 was marketed as cheaper than "o" gauge for children who either did no know it was a scale mis match or did not care,
BY the looks of it, it is indeed "S" gauge rolling stock.
Having said that, it is a very nice 4x8 027 layout .
Super. Hello from the Tracy Mountain Railway in Colorado. 💙 T.E.N.
great layout, great music.
I love your track plan, I think its awesome. Great job Frank!
if that is also 027 gunge trains, it is actually "S' gauge trains that runs on "O gauge track. O27 which referrs to the radius of the 027 curve track was Lionel's cheaper line marketed mainly for young children who were not concerned. or aware of the scale mis match
yes it is 027 radius in the layout, mixed with 031 and 042. the 031 had to be "bedded" deeper than the rest of the track. of course several sections of track had to be cut to fit the layout, but that is very easy with the tube track and dremel
I love your track plan!
Creative track design in a small space! I like it!
Very nice layout. You know with the 027 remote switch you can connect the switches such that that can alternate the direction. So you would not need to hit switch to change course. When train passes over one switch it changes other switch and so on. But you layout again is very nice.
Great job - love the upper turn around and bridges! Quick note - to balance out the power you may consider adding another power feed at the top of the hill (where the engine is slowing down). This will provide you more even voltage all the way up and down the hill. Best of luck and again, great job with the layout!
I don't think it's possible and I did add power feeds around the track and checked with mulitimeter - it doesn't matter. If you look at later videos I have some Lionel Lionchief engines running and they maintain speed no matter what the grade is.
Frank Nice layout and track plan. Now you know why a 9' x 5' ping pong size table is preferable to a 8' x 4' size. And 11' x 6' is even better allowing two independent track loops.

If I ever get a layout going this will provide plenty of inspiration! Great Job!

Very nice!
interesting track plan..
Very nice........
Sorry to be of a bother but i was just wondering if you had the list of track you used or some kind of plans? If not that is fine i was just curious, Thanks!
I don't have either. First it was on a 4'x8' sheet then I added 6 inches to make it 4'-6" x 8'-6"after trying some layouts. I would probably recommend going with a 5' x 8' or 9'. I played around with the layout and it was sort of a design build. I think I might have been in too much of a rush to do it.
Using the old tube track if there was a section that didn't fit exactly I would just cut it to fit. Looking back, I would have made the bridges not as close to the curves because there's almost no clearance for some of the cars.
Nice
time to extend it just like I did through every room in the basement. check mine out at Kendra trains 1 and also 40
I got a few questions if you got some time.
What grade did you utilize to get to the top level?
2%. pretty much the whole layout is at a slope other than the loop that goes around between the inclines. however, I think the inner loop is at 3%. To be honest, I can't remember, but I have one of the boxes and it says 2%, so I think that's the longer incline. But it's possible I have it wrong and maybe it's 1% and 2%
What an awesome small and concise layout, nice track design... I subscribed for future updates... If you have a sec. (or several) I hope
you can take a peek at my club, O Scale, two-rail, layout... Just go to the popular videos tab on my home page... It's a large and detailed
layout (about 4000 ft. of track, about forty years in the making with some nice rolling stock... Thanks so much, Moses...
Nice layout but now I need some Dramamine for my nausea from the crazy filming. lol
