- Here at Truck King we are working to bring you comprehensive truck reviews that cover towing, payload and off-roading all in one video. We know trucks are work vehicles and we treat them that way.
This week, we look at the 2020 GMC Sierra Elevation fit with the 3.0L Duramax diesel engine.
#GMC #Sierra #Trucks - Krátké a kreslené filmy
Stephen’s reviews of the 3.0L Duramax is one of the reasons why I’m buying a 2021 Silverado with the 3.0L
Nice!
Agree - really made me pay attention to the entire GM line which was no where on my list before
Who else come here ...from TFL... Because Steve!
Is he not on tfl anymore haven’t seen him recently but haven’t seen all the videos recently either
Guilty lol
🙋🏻♂️🙋🏻♂️🙋🏻♂️
Actually from Auto Guide when it was legit with Craig Cole
I am here cuz he is Canadian and I am from Canada
Came over from TFL. I'm glad to see you're not leaving CZcams! I really enjoy your reviews.
I'm not going anywhere!
We've got a ton of stuff planned right out of the chute too. TRD Pro reviews, Waverunners, RV reviews and classic truck videos are all coming in the next few weeks. So stay tuned!
Same here! More content form multiple channels is a win for the viewers :)
@@TruckKing your awesome, im from Canada so you are important for CZcams
I've seen your old videos in the past. I enjoyed watching them. Lots of useful information and most importantly, you convey your thoughts well. You're a much better presenter than most (including TFL guys). That's why I was surprised to see you collaborating with them. You're at a different level. Your dad and your brother are the same. Nice to see the clan able to make good videos.
Nice to see you and your Dad working together on your own channel . I'm glad you parted ways with TFL on good terms . I subscribed and i'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with .
I always enjoyed when the old man had Cameos with you on TFL, nice to see father son banter. I have already begun watching the back catalogue of videos. Cant wait to see what trouble you guys get into in the future🍁
Hey Steve, I subscribed after watching you on TFL for the last year or more. Keep on doing what you do and I'll keep telling others to subscribe. Congrats from BC.
You were my favorite reviewer on TFL and glad to see you with your own channel, had no idea you had this. Best of luck, definitely subscribing. I have a 3.0 duramax also so was a nice surprise to see this review 👍🏼
Steve, glad to continue following you in your new channel. It was a total class act that TFL supported your move and told us where to find you. Where else in Media does that EVER HAPPEN? Unbelievably cool move by TFL.
Absolutely. Roman is a class act and everyone at TFL was nothing but supportive.
I can't thank them enough for helping me out of the gate with Truck King!
Im a fan of TFL and Truck King 🇨🇦 I love the canadian content. I hope TFL collaborates from time to time.
sorry to be off topic but does anyone know a way to get back into an Instagram account??
I somehow forgot the login password. I would love any tips you can offer me
@Jesse Kenzo Instablaster ;)
@Julius Patrick I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and Im trying it out now.
Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Came from TFL always enjoyed your content there, subbed!
I'm glad you started your own channel, those tfl guys get a bit annoying with all their bias truck "tests" they perform. You seem honest and genuine, thanks keep up the good work.
Great video guys, it's nice to see a video where people actually run the vehicle through tests, rather than just showing/talking about it. I am currently looking at a 2021 elevation/duramax with the X31 offroad package & double cab with 80" long box. I was on the fence but this video helped me seal the deal. I have a summer home in the BC interior and like to tow my toys there and I know now that this truck will be a perfect fit for that while being easy on the wallet for fuel. There are not many trucks out there with the supply shortages so I figure I'd get on before there all gone, and I actually put a deposit on the last one in my area, whew.
I'm glad you are still on you tube. I've always enjoyed your reviews on TFL Trucks! I like that you are Canadian and post Canadian prices and metric fuel ratings
Heck yes! I've always worked to serve both my fellow Canadians and the US market with relevant, and we will try and keep that the same here at Truck King.
Excellent video and very easy to follow. I really learned a lot about this truck and has really helped me with my purchase decision. Thank you for making this for us and sharing.
Came over from TFL..... congratulations on your new channel 💪💪
Enjoyed the towing sequence. Good luck with the move over to Truck King Steve!
Also came over from TFL. Great video. Wishing you and your dad all the best on the channel.
Just over from TFL Steve. Just subscribed and looking forward to this.
Appreciate it! Lots of great videos on the horizon.
Just bought mine today and got my wife the 2021 Terrain SLE! Love them!!
Great review! Your assessment of the Duramax 3.0 was exactly what I found to be true. It’s a great engine!
Thanks! 👍
Hi from dear old England! Enjoying your channel very much, particularly the commentary which I find enthusiastic but not over the top and very informative. I may never get to drive these trucks so your channel is as close as I can get - many thanks.
Already subscribed and checking out the new video!! Congrats buddy keep up the great work and excellent content!!!
Congratulations on your New Channel! You are good for these job! Maybe in the future You can appear on a TFL vídeo as a consultant! Keep the great work! Cheers!
I’m so glad you made your own channel
I like this truck truck GM’s drivability is usually always spot on driving with a light foot on the throttle is actually one of the things that I look for in a powertrain. I don’t want to have to mash the throttle to speed up I want to have torque on tap and move the throttle just a bit because you’ll understand if you drive long distances under tow or load.
Bought one, March 2, love the engine, duramax, incredible mileage, and power, and ride, simply a nice truck that functions well.
How much mpg are you getting
@@monarchlifestyle6299 dash shows 23.5 mpg as avg. and the best at 26.5. I have a heavy foot too.
Hey Steven I followed you over from TFL I like your videos there and I'm sure I'll like them over here LOL. Love the reviews keep the videos rolling
Excellent review!!!! I think you touched on every base with this in-depth review
That was certainly the plan. Many truck reviews focus on a single aspect of the truck (towing, off-roading etc.), but we plan to look at all angles of every pickup in our reviews. Some videos will be more focused, but in general, this is what we're trying to achieve.
Great review truck king is quickly becoming my favourite truck channel on CZcams.
Thanks 👍
The fuel economy is crazy good!
Awesome video. Thank you for putting taking the time to make this video.
Glad you liked it!
From tfl man!! Love your vids. Was so scared u were leaving CZcams good to see u around man. Definitely subscribed
Best truck review! I enjoy u and your pops reviews!
Goodluck on your new channel bro! Subscribed and liked all videos 💪💪
like the locker as is for on road, snow &light off roading.
Great video! Followed you over from TFL. No trailer to mirrors, no 4low. The best thing about this truck is the engine, to bad it's bolted into a garbage truck.
Thanks for coming. I was even surprised at the single-speed transfer case. The Duramax really is good though and hopefully the 2022 update fixes up the interior.
Just came from TFL and wish you all the best. Great Review. Greetings from Germany
Willkommen!
Awesome comprehensive review guys; many thanks much appreciated :)
Glad it was helpful!
Came from TFL, got a sub from me. Loved the video and thank you for adding the us numbers as well. Glad your doing well man :)
Great reveiw. I'm currently in a 2016 f150 with the 2.7 ecoboos and have been getting about 9.3 to 10.0L/100km doing things hardest to get the best I can. I'm a pretty die hard ford guy but that new 3.0 duramax makes the 2022 gm very appealing. Never thought I'd ever look at a gm. Always thought if any it would be a Toyota but that mileage make a joke of toyota
Steve, not sure how Google knew I'm looking into GMC trucks till I get my cyber truck but I'm so happy I saw this video as you made my dealership happy since I selected 2021 GMC Sierra elevation diesel model just now 👍👍👍😄
Let us know who you bought from - we want our cut! (Kidding) ;)
The Dad and Son duo is top-notch! Love this channel!
Thanks, I try to keep a leash on him. Dad
I always loved the G80 rear locker, it’s been around for decades so it’s pretty damn reliable…..sure I had one that exploded on my 1996 suburban but that’s cuz I was burning rubber!! But it has never failed me when I needed it the most in off-road situations
Thanks for your testimony. Some people really talk bad about it and I don't know why.
@@imnotusingmyrealname4566 lol I love your user name is so freaken awsome
leave the 1000 lbs on the truck to tow for traction. naturally it would be there
The only reason I watch the video
Because of you brow
Now I'm looking!👍👍
Another great review. I truly enjoy watching and learning from both you and your dad's perspective. Thanks again from your neighbors in Niagara (Ontario). I just bought the 3.0 Duramax in Denali trim. Best regards to you and your family!
Awesome, thank you!
Barber, I’m interested in this truck with the Denali trim also. Would mind sharing how much payload capacity your truck states on the sticker? Thank you.
@@rdbjr52 Hello...Max Payload is 1383 lbs. Hope this helps. Love this truck. Does everything I need with incredible fuel economy!
New to the CH. Followed you on TFL. Great job!!
I have his truck (Literally color and everything) , I love it. Very efficient, surprisingly quick, and trailers are a piece of cake!
Good job
Fracois P okay Fracois
What do you pull?
@@steveernest3524 my camper, skids, and boat!
I have the 2020 Sierra Denali with the 3.0 and I have two years on road with it and towing. This poor truck was used to start a business and has hauled my skid-steer’s and material In a dump trailer. So I have crushed that 9k I won’t even say what I have haul but it’s took everything and more. With the high fuel prices we now leave the one ton at the site if possible and all get into the 1/2 to save money. Amazing truck all the way around.
I loved tfl when they focused on trucks and added guys like you and mr. Truck. Dont care for running after all things with wheels channels. Stay focused! Thanks!!
Definitely planning to buy this EXACT truck other than color beginning of next year can’t wait! 😁
Hahah fart evacuation mode! Super handy when the "dog" rips one in the back. The automatic parking brake feature with the camera is really clever!
Don't blame the poor dog.
Definitely want to see more 2020 Nissan Titan videos. Definitely enjoy your reviews
Good luck on the new channel mate
Great first review back at home with the fam chan. Good for you. I will keep watching!! Would love to see a shootout with the Ford, Ram and this truck all with the half ton diesel engines with the same barrage of testing you did in this video. Cheers Steve (and dad) :)
Thanks! Lots more truck testing coming up.
Great review!!
I really enjoyed your reviews on TFLTruck's CZcams channel. I'm eager to see your first real world towing review with the new Suburban with the 3.0 Liter diesel!
I've already been bugging GM Canada about getting into the new SUVs. Hopefully it will be soon.
Really enjoyed this review!
Appreciate it.
Good to see a truck review with the truck being put to work.
We will always work trucks properly on this channel. We know truck reviews are not meant to be done with empty beds and nothing on the hitch.
always enjoyed your TFL vids...sub'd here now..best of luck!
Great info, both subjective (like tie downs) and objective (squat, etc.). Thanks. Subscribed.
Thanks for the sub!
I also came over from TFL... I'm a new subscriber and I'm really enjoying your content! I must have watched 30 of your videos over the last 2 or 3 days. 🤭😆😆
Welcome!!
Great vid keep it up 👍👍
Great video man. I have the Duramax 6.6 L5P and love it. It has over 100k miles and has never regened. do not know why but it has never done a regen cycle. Runs great.
Thanks for sharing
Instant subscribe from Texas.
I want this exactly truck with the trims included and the engine MPG is awesome
Very informative review looking forward to the comparison videos. Would like to see more information about transmission and rear gear ratios that are available being GM has so many options.
We should have discussed rear ends for sure. I'll be sure to include that when we're towing.
This Sierra uses a 3.23.
I issue you guys a challenge. Find a 2.7l ecoboost payload package F-150 to test. It only exists in the XL trim on crew cab short bed and supercab 6.5 bed trucks. However you can get the STX package which helps get it out of bare bones a bit. It is an extensive package that puts the larger 9.75 rear end on the truck with 3.73 gearing and a locking rear differential, and is available with the upgraded 53C towing package that upgrades both the radiator and installs the transmission oil cooler. It does have the larger rear leaf blocks that make the stock 32" tires look dinky in the wheel wells though. The cool thing is that it has a comparable towing capacity to the duramax 1500 trucks, but appreciably higher payload ratings due to it's 7,000lb GVWR on the 4x4, which is oddly (and falsely) 50 lbs less than the 5.0 and 3.5 trucks with the same chassis and suspension codes. I'm not sure why it is so limited in trim offering. The reality is, the 2.7 in practical use, is the best towing motor available for the F-150 due to it's massive powerband, throttle response, and absurdly robust build (and the "powerstroke" is doggy as all get out past 10mph). Now, NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE on youtube has actually tested this package. I have a 2018 version of it. It was one of I believe about twelve examples in the western US available at the time I purchased it. I know you guys are mostly limited to press fleets and local dealers, but I hold out hope that somewhere in Eastern Canada, there is someone as weird as I am. Now, I already know how much of a gem it is in the F-150 line, but I guarantee everyone who read this just found out about it. Good luck.
had to follow you here proud to support a Canadian boy
Nice quality video.
Appreciate your dad’s input, really cool.
You bet!
I like your review. The elevation trim is a big seller in Alberta.
Awesome video
1M subs waiting for you in near future.
Excellent review!
It appears off-road and towing packages are mutually exclusive. Would you say the off-road pkg is worth it (or what kind of terrain would make them worth it?)
Thanks!
Suggestion for towing tests in the future. Maybe a box trailer to add some wind resistance, not sure how many people are towing loads that heavy that have such a low profile in the real world.
Jeff Dillon yes! Makes a big difference on gas mileage and handling
The disadvantage of the box is the varying wins conditions add a lot of uncontrolled variability to the tests to make accurate comparisons very difficult.
@@treborheminway3814 really good point.
Love the new logo !~
Great Job! About time a Quality Test! Ex-Mec
My new #1 truck channel!
Following from Autoguide days. Specifically the Fj Cruiser review....keep up the great work.
Welcome aboard!
can you review the 2.7 turbo silverado. your chanel is great
I just had another thought. - With all the new pickup truck owners out there ( count myself as one of them), a newbie video might be an idea. - A video to go over all the little things that you guys wouldn’t even think about. People who’ve never owned a pickup truck before, might need to hear. How to properly load your cargo. Ie - Throw it in doesn’t matter, or towards the cab, near the tailgate so it’s easier to load and unload. Things to consider when using tie downs. How to attach a trailer you’d pickup from U-Haul. Because a newbie isn’t going to have their own. How to backup with a trailer. How to drive with it. I’m sure there’s a huge wealth of knowledge that you don’t even think about anymore, that people who’ve never owned a pickup truck before would consider valuable information.
This is definitely a great idea. Hopefully in the future we can tackle some 101-style videos for beginners.
I really like the utilitrack tie down system in the Titan. I need those tie downs in the floor of the bed.
Nice review. Loved the dozer 🙂
Thanks 👍
I'm looking at getting a diesel AT4 next year, might wait to see what the new interior looks like, but I don't mind the current one. A lot of people seem to not like it, but I don't mind. Either way, great review! Fellow Ontario boy, here!
Thanks and welcome, eh?
Weird thing about the "all windows down" features is that Honda used to offer this on their vehicles since like 2000, but it was remote/key operated. Not sure why they stopped on the new ones, but maybe they could bring it back. I had it on my 2012 Crosstour. It was great to get in and all the windows all down already.
You can do this with the gmc remote too. There's just a button inside too for some reaso.
my 2004 gmc sierra denali , had 10K pounds towing and 4 wheel steering Beuatiful colors and styling. If I could drop the 3.0 liter diesel in it, and add some of the newer tech and bed, would be a perfect truck.
Great 👍 video, thank you!
Our pleasure!
I like how this engine was "designed" for this truck but is not for the "SUV" version....AKA AT4 Yukon...which is what I really wanted.
Quick Question: Do you think the low torque sweet spot of the 3.0 duramax. In any way makes up for the lack of 2 way transfer case. Also my g80 is great. Perfect for most of us. I mean it works with or without 4×4 on too. Its like having (Auto Positive Track) Just give it a little Quick punch on the gas. Let off right away. There you go. 😀
When you give fuel economy can you also do the same loop unloaded? Comparison between the 2 would be helpful.
Great review.
Thanks!
G80 has its positives for sure, your Dad has good points. I'd also point out that the G80 works in ALL drive modes, you don't have to be in 4low like many auto lockers.
Truly, it's NOT an "auto-locker", it's simply a clutched locking differential, and they all work the same way, they're ALL mechanical in nature, regardless of 2hi, 4hi, or 4lo...the G80 has been around forever, my 2002 GMC 2500HD has one...
I'd like to see a 6.6L Duramax in the 2500 HD platform smoking the tires :) Does GM limit the HP and TQ in the first few gears or will it annihilate the rubber?
Shout out for giving us Canadians reviews hardly any other channels included Canadian pricing
Cool setup with the weight bricks!
So I was just looking around on line and found out there are limits on how much you can town under a regular license. That might be something to mention in one of the videos. I had never thought of that.
Another good point. Here in Ontario, I have my class D license while dad holds a class A, so we definitely know all about the rules here when it comes to weight limits.
I am so thankfull this video, more powers to you guys. I am just wondering if its worth it to buy the 1500 diesel compare to 2500 ones? What do you think?
Do you think gm will offer a higher aspect axle ratio and large fuel tank and increased gvw like a max tow in the future on these diesels?
Direct From TFL 💪🏼
Love the truck , . But hell no on the price , .Way out of my price range. I have 2018 2500 GMC Diesel Z71 and I will be keeping it for a long time now ...
Nice to see you do your own thing .... 👍🏼
I own a GMC sierra 1500 Denali with the 3.0 diesel and really enjoy it. Curious how GM is going to improve on the current 3.0 diesel with upcoming LZ0.
