Grim Dawn and Path of Exile are the best ARPGs for the forseeable future.
They confirmed 4 games in diablo universe. 2 spin-offs, 1 mobile (curse on you Diablo Immortal) and Diablo 4. But who cares if we have Grim Dawn, PoE, Warhammer Chaosbane in April and Wolcen beta starts soon ?

Judging from the trailer, this seems to add a lot of content to the game that it could be a game of its own. Reminds me of Diablo 2 LOD which was quite a significant QoL and content expansion. Not many companies make good expansions like this anymore and I appreciate it.

1:36 that music is siiick. Also smooth transition. The beginning is more of the less the same but in slower tempo and it increases in intensity naturally. Great stuff!

@gavin perkins I asked on the forum and they just said it's still on track for after Forgotten Gods. I'm assuming it'll be a month or two minimum.
oathkeeper are mainly build as swordnboard or 2handed warriors. but casters and rangers can use some good supporting skills from this mastery too.
they can be considered as paladin/templar class.
i'm pretty sure most gd fans are hyped to play a spin2win oathkeeper.

but I already have 500 hours into this and plan to play a lot more with the first couple expansions already! Still, Grim Dawn was one of the only games where I bought the DLC the day it came out, actually within the first hour it came out. Even after already putting 150 hours into it, I just wanted to support the devs, but ended up falling in love with all the changes and classes that I sunk a lot more hours than I planned. I got a friend to buy all the DLC too and bought it all for my wife as well, so we can all play it together. Grim Dawn For Life! lol :D
And to think that at the beginning 3 people worked on the game (2 in spare time!) And this beautifully developed. The team expanded. 2 expansions were launched. Hats off.

Thank you Crate, for this awsome game! I'm 28 and this is the first time since years that I felt like a litte boy watching a videogame trailer. An it's "only" a DLC ;-) Your whole game really has soul - from every detail in the world and the story in it, up to all the possibilities in class and skillcombinations. I started with it only few weeks ago and I'm still on my first run to Level 100 with a Pyromancer. Now the endgame will be perfect.
Damnnn that looks so great been waiting for this expansion for a while now to get me back into the game. Crate plss make a Game or the year or collectors edition so i can convince my friends to get the whole game at once !! :))
Grim dawn hasnt won any GOTY awards to my knowledge, and they might still decide to make more expansions.

"goty edition" is just a name a publisher can put onto the box when just 1 random journalist calls it out to be so... its just a reason for developers to bring the game out as a whole with every content update so far. so if somone wants a "goty edition" that just means he wants the whole package from a game (vanilla + all dlc's). oh btw... dead island launched a "goty edition in 2011 u could also call it "definitive edition" ;P (which most of publishers do today)

OOOOH this is a fantastic fucking idea! I got my friend into this game while we were in trade school last year and now that summer is coming and we'll both start making good money, he can afford a new computer (he doesn't even have one) and we can play this game.
If they do it'll be a great bargain, they don't charge enough for their games already.

I managed to like 70 hours and managed to try most it, they lack a big variety of items, the skill setup is plain and you cant really do much with the game.

And there is certainly a lot of build variety(32 different class combinations) with skills, and that's even before Devotions. Not to mention items with skills on, and those which can add functionality to existing skills.
I find loads of things todo myself, usually farming for items to complete builds though :)

I am not saying quantity is something I look for in a game but in games like these its a must.
I've found most of those rares on that list you posted which didn't take me long and that is hella boring, I didn't even have to work for it it felt.
@@glennsandberg453 I don't think you exactly drilled down into the details, set items alone ~560 of them. PoE has also been out about 2-3 times as long and many more expansions adding in items. 1 Expansions for GD so far.

Some pretty awesome monsters in this one - the Korvan Drudges reminds me of the Machae and the giant animated 4-armed armor of the Gigantes in TQ IT.
And man that korvan raptor boss is more like a T-rex in size!
As a Diablo 2 "veteran" (played the game over 12 years, since it's release)
i can safely say, that - Grim Dawn - is by far the best ARPG out there today..
Great things are going to happen in Grim Dawn :)
Also, for everyone missing Diablo 2 - there is awesome GD mod called Reign of Terror, which recreates D2 story, quests, locations, items and classes!

@@yurimitsuk2720 the base game is only ~$25, crucible of the dead DLC which is a survival stage for item farming is ~$6, ashes of malmouth is ~$13 which comes with 2 new classes and a ton of items and quests and new monsters and bosses. It's worth every penny.

@Prince XavieR Thanks for the info. Don't keep up too much on gaming news these days. I did know that Crate didn't own TQ anymore. Remember that from when Grim Dawn was first announced. It was really just wishful thinking on my part, especially since we recently got Ragnarok.
Finally, "Cyclone" / "Whirlwind" made RIGHT! Can't wait to try it!

Never regret of buying GD or the expansion. This game is top tier.
Hype is real. PoE is great, but after playing since beta I can only manage one char a league. GD however keeps me company in-between leagues. Def second strongest ARPG on market, with no predatory practices and pure genre spirit. I'll gladly buy this expansion.
I played about 100 hours into PoE and found myself disappointed that I couldn't really do much with my abilities. I'm guessing that gets better at higher levels, but I just got bored.

I'm so happy that the developers at Create Entertainment seem to be as passionate and love the game as much as us players of the game do :)
I just want to note, it's also super-awesome of them to have included the very same tools they used to make the content for the game alongside the game when it was released -- something most dev studios don't do, but with a game like this, I'm soooo glad they did. Been tinkering around with it a bit. I just wish their tutorial (pdf) was a little better. I could tell some (and by some I mean a lot) of work went into it, after all it's, a pdf, and it's got pictures embedded throughout and its 64 pages long! :) However, the pre-set up instruction (putting things in their right folder and what folder is used for what, etc.) doesn't elaborate quite enough so I've been following Elfe's guide (for those that want to get into modding, and want to know what guide):

No, I'm not Elfe, I just believe in giving praise to people that contribute pretty-solid content out of the goodness of their heart; saying producing GOOD documentation (and I don't mean Crate's isn't good -- don't read too much into that) is difficult just doesn't do the laborious task justice in just how much work such an endeavor can entail. And I mean that for really ANY good documentation. Anyone whose ever done documenting work knows this. So, kudous to Elfe for his tutorials.
The lore is really good too! I'm not usually one to read lore, but I'm kind've glad I did when I started playing the game when it came out (especially since there's soooo much and it would take a long while to get caught up if I hadn't); it provides such a much clearer context as to the severity of the situation and the degree of fear of what the people of Cairn (namely, Devil's Crossing, and Homestead) are dealing with. I really can't extol the level of quality of skill of the people that make each aspect of the game (from world design, to lore). And no I don't work for Crate, just wanted to express my gratitude for basically giving us Diablo III ;) Or what should have been Diablo III and hope that they continue to work on Grim Dawn for years to come; they for one will have my money for every expansion they release :P Even though, they probably don't need it given how successful the game has been as per their dev update on their page, I rooted for Grim Dawn and Crate to do well when it was released, and still root for the game and their company. Yes, they're a company and need to make money to keep the lights on etc. so making money is a concern I know, but it's a rare and wonderful thing to see a company also be as passionate about an IP as its player-base and treat their passion for the project almost as important as making money; it's almost like they have the philosophy: Don't worry about the money, make a great game that you're passionate about and the money will come / follow. Gee, what a novel idea :P
Ok they god damn nailed it with this one. The look and feel of Ashes of Malmouth took a bit to grow on me but this...this just feels like the golden age is upon us.
While I am definitely buying this, I was thinking that this expansion looks a bit samey while watching the video. I mean, desert again? It looks a bit different and hopefully this is a somewhat incomplete representation using old assets. I also hope it takes on way more Egyptian style than the original games wild west style.
@@flamerollerx01 Well i think thats part of what I love so much about it - it does have more of that ancient feeling to it in the enemies, settings and items. By the looks of the trailer the desert is only maybe 1/3 of the new areas at most but honestly I really like what they've done even with the new desert areas compared to the small amount in the base game. Different strokes I guess.

Dude, I love my poison based Occultist-Nightblade. He uses a gun and caster offhand, uses all the poison talents that affect guns from both trees, has TWO heals and with certain new necklace items from the recent expansion, I changed the piercing damage of that blade spin aoe nightblade ability into pure acid damage. He's only 60 and does 15k damage per second in poison alone! -I grind bosses to dust.- *I melt bosses into piles of disgusting goo!* (way better)
@@flamerollerx01 yeah, for some reason, crate gives dreeg more features than solael/bysmiel. even oathkeeper class's witch department only has dreeg exclusive skills, with the other 2 witch gods getting only 1 skill (path of the three or something).
not mentioning those 6 or something plagues of dreeg items.
either way, poison is one of the most accessible builds in gd, with very high damage ceiling included.
I bet we will get a third expansion, mark my words.

Desert is always the best act in any ARPG. So glad they finally added some color to this drab brown game.
Love the music. Soon as the bass dropped I had flashbacks to the main theme of the animated GI Joe movie from the 80s. This is a good thing, check it out for yourself.
When I heard the voice at the end of the trailer the first thing that popped into my head was the voice of Mephistopheles or whatever his name was from the Spawn movie that came out in the '90's.

That class looks like combination of D3 Baba and Crusader. Not that I'm complaining. I love both WW and shield throw.

But it's probably not an easy port. Another company ported Titan Quest to the Switch, which is on the same engine as Grim Dawn, and it was a technical disaster full of bugs and weird performance issues. Of course that could be because the devs were incompetent, BUT it's a very old engine full of quirks.

@Prince XavieR thats true, but for myself i've to say i enjoy content more over the time then cinematics^^ And an cinematic trailer doesnt really show u the actuall gameplay/content/what u really get. Sure both is even more great like Wc3, but today blizz games are cinematicly better than the actuall game. They are no gamemakers anymore, it's an on numbers based company, not more, not less. Community is dropping, Diablo fan site shutting down, blizzpro is talking about stopping due the changes to blizzard. It's Activision now, the love is gone sorry, i liked them also alot ;)

@John Bennett They are different games for diffrent people. I prefer PoE myself but if you want a slower more relaxing game GD is great for that.
