The damage difference between the stronghold keg and the Athena keg is blast radius. The Athena keg will kill the entire crew on a galleon but the stronghold keg will not carry its kill damage as far.
The shrouded ghost only spawns if Rare deems you worthy and pushes the big red "SHROUDED GHOST" button whilst they watch you
I WANNA BE WORTHY SO BAD
I swear they removed it and just want to watch us squirm like the sick RNG gods they are.
I got it a few years ago, the big shark had its own music, the music he plays in its respective section of the video. A grand version of Summon the Megaladon.
I found it around N21. Though be warned I posted it in the official discord and told by pirates that it’s fake and just “propaganda by rare” lol.
Happy hunting mates
Every time my captain ship takes damage, I simply delete it and purchase a new one 👍
Understandable, totally legit.
Truly an entrepreneur 😂
Pure profit
I do that when I see another ship..better to not chance it.
Honestly real
11:52 "Don't overextend yourself trying to catch this particular Meg."
This is terrible advice. Everybody knows that the true way to get the Shrouded Ghost to spawn is to embark on a clearly doomed voyage that will deplete your fortune, drive you insane, and eventually kill you. You literally just have to lose your mind (and a leg) and go completely wacko with your lust for revenge.
IT WORKED FOR AHAB, IT CAN WORK FOR ME
LOL. To be fair, I have totally spent HOURS sitting waiting for that damn timer to go off and hoping its the ONE.
"embark on a clearly doomed voyage that will deplete your fortune, drive you insane, and eventually kill you"
Wait... Was the shrouded ghost just Moby-Dick all this time?

Myth: if you just sail away from the spire before taking out the mermaid statues during the final Pirates Life Tall Tale you’ll have a permanent Jack Sparrow on your cannons who has perfect aim
OMG I never even thought of this one. 🤣
You dont bc he cowers in fear around everything except for the tall tale
@@IronGiant131 well that's still having a permanent Jack Sparrow. He just doesn't help out.
It's not a myth, it's a reality:
Telling your friend to log in to play to get a quick achievement, a 20 minute adventure. From the moment those words were mentioned you have just condemned that expedition to the most cursed and chaotic of your entire life. On that journey alone you will manage to find a valuable treasure that you will want to sell only to be followed by constant megalodors, pirate ships, the event of the fleet of leaving by surprise in the place you were sailing, a obligatory visit of the kraken and of course the sweatiest of the streamers connecting on your server to record troll videos for his youtube channel.
I have absolutely fallen for the "It'll be a short voyage, no biggie" line one too many times for my own good.
One time I logged in to customize my reaper ship' trinkets and then log. Buy then I saw a level five reaper pulling up to reapers hideout, and I wasn't far away at plunder. So I threw up my reaper flag and sailed over, hoping to have a quick round of PVP and fully expecting my solo brig to sink with zero loot.
The level 5 reapers decided to run. So I chased them to the edge of the map. We ended up in an alliance stacking FOTD.
"It's just 20 minutes bro."
The Shrouded Ghost, in terms of myth and player stories, feels very much like one of those actual tall tales: a yarn that sailors young and old would enjoy spinning during the historical Age of Exploration.
The thing about the Shrouded Ghost is that, in actuality, she ain't no tall tale. You can fight her. Most pirates don't get to see her with their own eyes, even after thousands of hours of playtime. But, you can fight her.
Damn, that's awesome!
One day I';ll see her too!
My ships whole backstory is about the shroud.
My Papa and i sailed on a ship called the bear and the bird, named after me and my Papa respectively.
One day i was sleeping below deck and i hear Papa scream so i ran upstairs only to see my father disappearing into the maw of a pure white shadow. I swear, it was a spectre the size of me whole ship.. with glowing red eyes.
I fell hit my head and woke up on lonely isle with no ship, no Papa, no leg, no GROG and a headache that could kill a kraken.. and i never saw me papa ever again.
I swear to glitterbeard i will get revenge on this "ghost" even if it kills me😆
I've never heard of that "reaper charge" thing but now I want it in the game, that's such a cool idea to fend people off and increase its value.
Also, FINALLY someone else confirms that the Athena keg is identical to the Stronghold one, SO MANY people think the Athena one is better. They are literally re-skins, they even have the same sell value! The only difference is the faction they go to.
Just imagine, red smoke and electricity charging up all your treasure. 🌩️
A common one is that you have to sell all the crates full, but the fireworks crate and bait crate sell for the same amount EMPTY! So you can keep the loot if your into fishing and fireworks.
Oooooh that's a good one! Save your bait and fireworks!
You are right, the shrouded ghost isnt a myth.
Its a Lie.
One day we'll see those white fins... one day.

My favorite myth is that there is a "secret tavern" underneath all the outposts, thats just outrageous!
How To Get A Fake Shrouded Ghost: Go Into The Fog And Get A Shadowmaw Seriously It Looks Just Like A Shrouded Ghost But With Pupils
I still need a few Shadowmaws for my commendations!
@@JonBardcore Ok
Here's a few myths.
Chest of Rage: You can put this on a barrel in the lowest deck, have a little bit of water in the lower deck, and it won't set anything on the ship on fire. But will set the player on fire.
Also the fire would release any harpoon if they're shot out and attached to something else.
Cursed cannonballs are guaranteed on cannon rowboats found in random locations.
Spamming Block and ringing the ships bell will give a good sound effect that amplifies everything around the player.
Man, you were so good till the very end. Why you gotta be pirate troll lol?
@JonBardcore It can be useful if you need to reset a glitched pirate but don't want to exit the game/alt f4. Like when there was that mast bug in hourglass.
The Chest of Rage one is true, however it does cause the water to boil, making the deck it is on unsafe to traverse.
That and the water level has to be quite significant.
It's ultimately not as helpful as just one player with a bucket keeping an eye on it unless if you're a solo slooper and even then it's risky.
@reonthornton685 that's what putting it on a barrel is for. If it's on a barrel (not the deck), and the deck has some water on it (enough to mostly cover the bed on a sloop) it won't boil the water and won't damage anything. But if you stand by harpoon/cannon when it goes off it'll make you catch fire
I'm really glad you're making videos again! I've been getting back into the game after a lengthy break, thanks to the introduction of crossplay with PS5. I've got a swabbie friend of my own I'm helping to become a Pirate Legend and, though this experience has been making my age as a pirate more and more apparent (ow, my poor back), I've never been happier playing Sea of Thieves! I'm going to make a point of recommending your channel to my friend, because I think your newest videos have been really informative, and great for a new pirate. Cheers, Bardcore!
7:07 this was so funny to me. Just the burning ship in the background with your character was hilarious
I remember I was told by another crew that jumping with loot makes the value less. I still don't know if this is true?
The only time this is true is with bottles of rum that you get during merchant trade goods voyages. Any other piece of loot is safe to jump around at will!
What about the chest of a thousand frogs? I always thought it devalued if you jumped/"tripped" while carrying it
@@keilafleischbein59 No, the only thing that can ever be devalued by what you do to it are the merchant items, such as not letting it touch water or not moving it around much, that being the cloth and the rum bottles, everything else cannot be devalued by any outward forces. No matter what
Nope! The only piece of loot that loses value when jumping is rum bottles. So any other piece of loot, jump as you please!
@@hubertthefish9101 the plants too. Gotta water them or else they will be described as "parched"
Well i was wondering what had happened to you. Glad i found you again, and glad to see you having such passion with these videos!
The one that I heard about the ghost is that it only spawns once 100 other megs have been killed on the server. After the 100th kill, the ghost instantly spawns on a random ship in the server, even if that means that a ship gets meg'd twice in a row
Added to the list of Shrouded myths!
You gotta love the friendly jab at Hitbo for tucking 👍
We told a new crew that they need to play call of the meg for half hour straight while burning shark meat on the fryer to call in a meg.
The bastards did it, a meg spawned and they said "we will definitely do this every time" and i just.. i couldnt believe it 😂
You're definitely part of the problem. 🤣
You should have sent them snipe hunting too.
Oh yeah you added the shrouded ghost!
I did! Cheers
The editing and pacing of this video is phenomenal! It’s also very educational about the game!
You're amazing, thank you so much for the compliment!
I had a guy freak out on me because I was blowing off fireworks while sailing in open water and he thought it would call a Meg or Krak
I spawned into SoT for the first time in two years two days ago.
Coming up on an outpost I had the Shrouded Ghost spawn on me, and then immediately despawn because I was sailing toward the Outpost and got too close.
This is the only time I've ever seen it.
That banana line slayed me!
I used to think that damage was permanent on captained ships, so i just didn't use mine until I found out it's cosmetic
I admit, I was using the shipwright all the time because I thought it made a difference...
You're not the only one! Just imagine all the gold that the Shipwright has swindled from unsuspecting pirates!
it DOES
i just like the look of a fixed ship
I’m here to say the biggest myth is the shrouded ghost
One day Capt... one day... 😢
@@JonBardcore crazy to think that a ps5 player has probably gotten it already
i have 124 hours on SoT i recently saw the shrouded ghost but Rare desiced to deny me the satisfaction by sending 3 player ships and a ghost patrol i sunk everyone sunk and the shrouded ghost got away
I love my fully damaged hull with planed up holes everywhere and don't forget about the burn marks I love it! Gives my ship some asthetic
And the wood chips! Don't forget the wood chips!
Myth I heard in regards to Shrouded Ghost:
If you have Bananas on your ship, the Shrounded will never spawn on you, ever. This is only believed true because a friend of a friend mentioned this, removed the Bananas from their ship, and had that Meg spawn on them.
Most certainly a myth, and spits in the face of our Banana Loving Bardcore.
How dare such utter blasphemy be uttered!
@@JonBardcore as a Fellow banana Eater i Agree! i would've gotten the shrouded ghost a long time ago if that was the case.
I bet the misconception with the reapers bounty might have arose when someone sold one of them during gold rush
with the repair thing I normally don't buy it but one time my ship got so burned that it was actually difficult to sea billow deck (this is a galleon) and I was forced to spend 11,000 on repairs
Kraken used to always spawn between world events, but does not anymore.
Now it can happen at any time.
So that also means that Kraken is now more rare than it used to be.
That is not the case. Players are referencing a video for the S9 trailer which showed kraken with world events but that was just Rare hype
10:17 Actually There Is A Way To Spawn One But You Need Merrick’s Drum (Only Obtained From The Hungering Deep) And Pretty Sure There’s A Cooldown For When You Can Spawn A Meg
Nope. Not even the power of Merrick is on a player's side when trying to get a meg.
@@JonBardcore Ah Ok. But I Think My Drum Is Good At Summoning Skelly Ships 💀 Seriously I’ve Been Playing The Shanty And 4 Megs Have Spawned And There’s Been Like 6 Skelly Ships. One Time I Know I Summoned Smth Because We Got A Meg AND A Skelly Ship 💀
I’m most surprised by the Athena keg. Because I was certain it caused more damage even from experience.
I love your videos and I’m glad you are back
One thing I’ve seen people debate is a myth or not is the kraken
I know it used to spawn when there was no other world events active but during season 9 the trailer showed a kraken and a world event happening at the same time. Plenty of players swear up and down that they got krakened while there was an active skeleton fleet. So I was wondering if the kraken was moved from world events to emergent encounters. Or is it a myth and bunch of people misremembering?
Yeah, that was just for the trailer in Season 9. Kraken is still only in between world events.
@@JonBardcore The clarification is much appreciated, wind in your sails JonBardcore ! 😁
Great vid!! I have a myth/question. Can a rowboat help absorb damage if attached to your ship?
Rowboats can take a couple of hits on your stern that would have otherwise put holes directly on your ship! Otherwise, wouldn't matter.
Part of the Myth of the Shrouded Ghost is due to the fact there was an event that you had to collect a bunch if things to call it and fight it. But after that event the ability to spawn it was removed
I like how bro called out Hit and isn’t even wrong for it 🤣
The "repair ship" option is really only useful for gallons, as you could have open holes on the second floor that you don't have wood/don't want to spend time fixing, so a quick "fix" button push and she's all new! Wouldn't want to go into battle with a deck full of holes, just asking to be sank.
That's fair, galleons do be getting a bit more holey than others
Well, it happened to us twice that the chest of sorrow started crying, my teammate played becalmed to it, and it stopped instantly. I've never heard about this myth before, it just happened. Now, it might have been just two very well timed coincidence, but i'm not convinced...
I always repair my ship when it takes quite a bit of damage after a session. I like it to look better and I'm willing to spend a little gold on it.
I use the shipwright a lot. Not because I thought it fully repaired my ship. I just want to look good while sailing.
Boxy is to blame for the charging of Reaper chests. He does it to troll
I use the repair ship option at the start of a session so that each session has a blank slate for which to paint my misadventures on.
Hahahah, you know what I respect this
Omg I totally perked up at the "song to stop the crying chest" part, and was like "WHAT?!" But then you totally brought me back to reality. Shame, that would be cool.
I know, and that's why that myth still persists today!
Why your character randomly appearing and doing those random emotes is so funny 😂😂
Hey it's not random! There's a lot of work in that called timing! 🤣
@@JonBardcore yes they're perfect, those scenes make the video 10x better😂👌
Nice video! I appreciated the info. SCIENCE!!!!
Always love a good pirate experiment!
(Unless im wrong) Repairing at the shipright will make a difference in sinking speed. This is bc of the tier of the hole, if you have a tier 3 hole, a plank wont change the tier and will be just as dangerous when the plank is broken.
I joined when it dropped on PS5 ans this video is a HUUUUUGE help. I only solo sloop (I played offline games exclusively up till now) so thank you for this video. Other sources weren't accurate.
Hey, glad to hear it and welcome to the seas!
My crew has a track record of hearing the meg music start and shouting "SHARK!" - followed by ", don't care" and ignoring it.
My go-to line is "You're not the one I want." and then moving on
@@JonBardcore”this is not the -droid- meg we are looking for”
Our signature phrase for any non ghost is "boring".
That last tip only applies if you beleive the shrouded ghost is real XD love the video sir I'm glad your back and I hope your doing well!
Thank you very much! Every day is a blessing.
Personally I like the damage on ships. Its her scars of battle. Let her wear them with pride of getting our of your voyage in one piece.
As an imperial merchant. All that matters is the Quota and the order to be delivered
Yeah, I have 2000 hours in the game, and I have never once seen that Shrouded Ghost Meg.
I've not ever heard any of these myths that you mention, except for I have heard the charging reaper treasure myth, and I knew that it was just a myth. Especially after I tried it once.
Did you at least get to see her during the limited time Shrouded Ghost adventure?
@@JonBardcore no. I do not know what you are talking about
The shipright actually repairs level 3 holes and makes them level 1
I wish there was a ship milestone that kept track of how much gold I've wasted on repairs. It must be in the 1mil mark by now.
If you are doing shore of gold tall tales, the 9th one, every time you finish and then go to sell, a meg spawns. Happened all 5 times I did the quest
I have an explanation for that in this video. Watch till the end. :)
I thought that for the skelly fleet it would flash green but if someone gets within proximity and spawns a skelly ship then it flashes red
Nope! But you're not alone in thinking that
I thought the difference between athena kegs and mega kegs was that the athene has higher damage output against players, with potentially slower damage falloff and more range. Never tested it myself, just heared it a couple times from others.
Negative. While there was a camera trained on the ship, I had a second avatar actually placing the kegs and trying to escape the blast. In both cases, they reached the middle deck just a few feet from stairs. Explosion hits, they take like 60% damage.
Don't holes in the ship hull have different sizes? There's a small hole at first and then the more times the same spot is hit, the bigger the hole gets. And bigger holes take longer to repair with a plank. So repairing your ship in the shipwright from time to time actually matters.
Yes, holes take time to repair. But what I'm saying is that if you plank a hole there's in effect no hole there. So everything is reset.
@@JonBardcore The video also suggests that spending gold to repair your ship is a waste of money. It is not. When you're in a fight and have a lot of holes, the time to fix each of them can make a huge difference. Especially when you're solo. So while you definitely shouldn't pay for restoring every little scratch, it's good to do so when your ship has a lot of bruises.
@@JonBardcore so you’re telling me if I plank a tier 5 hole and that plank falls off I’m gonna be now planking up a tier 1 hole…? 🤔
@@explosivebarrelgamers Can confirm this. Helmsman accidentally clipped the dock while we had planked up battle damage from a naval battle with skeletons and a kraken. Some serious bad luck.
One of the patched large holes at the front was now a small hole.
A question about how you said a kracken only spawns during the world event being active, but didnt they make it so it can spawn at any time in season 10?
Great question, they did show that in the video footage but to my knowledge kraken's are still in between world events only!
Might have been the Fort of the Damned cloud, but would need to review the Season Trailer to confirm.
@aidanjackson5084 I think it was the fotd but I believe there was also an ashen winds
@@JonBardcore thanks!
i was playing today and got attacked by a kraken with a world event cloud up
Myth: the playerbase will equally use all of the provided social features in the game roughly equally, and NOT treat it like a cod lobby where “Thieving” is understood to mean “always kill on site with no mic.”
Great video! I have another myth to check, but not sure how can I accomplish that. There's a myth about magma rocks in the Devil's Roar. The brighter they get - the closer the eruption is. I feel like that's a myth, but a lot of my friends believe it. Same for the event clouds.
P.S. I'm already waiting for the next part, cause I'm pretty sure there's a lot more myths to check
Thanks for the compliment! Sorry though, I'm not understanding the ask about rocks. You said brighter the rock the closer the eruption? If you can see the rock, you're pretty close to the eruption anyway right?
@@JonBardcore you know, like. If the shiny rocks are not so shiny, then you have plenty of time. But if they are all yellow and bright, then soon the volcano will erupt
@@JonBardcore those orange and yellow volcanic crystals , which are everywhere in devil's roar
6:38 although the athena keg is exactly the same as the stronghold keg, i still call it a gigakeg over a megakeg because it just FEELS more powerful. yes i know i'm wrong. yes it's entirely placebo effect. no i don't care.
Im pretty sure there is a difference between athena kegs and gunpowder kegs, not woth the amount of holes they create but with the range of the explosion. Ive always heard that they will both create the same amount of holes but the athena kegs explosion radius is so large that it will almost certainly kill everyone on the ship no matter where you are.
While I had a camera on the ship for the viewpoint you saw in the video, I had Bardcore placing the keg and trying to flee before it exploded. With each keg, he was just a few feet short of the stairs to top deck and both explosions basically caused the same health damage. Neither killed him.
@@JonBardcore huh, I guess I was lied to lol
the kraken can spawn whilst world events are active now (I cant remember which season but it could for a while now)
I think what people are recalling here is the S9 Trailer that showed kraken with world events. That was just for dramatic flair lol.
@@JonBardcore no they said it in one of there developer blogs that they increased server performance allowing the kraken to spawn during a world event
as someone who spent lot of time fishing in isolated part of the map I can confirm.... things will keep spawning at you even if you're doing nothing.... Too much sometimes >.>
Hahahahah, love me some fishing though!
the kraken still spawns if theres a world event, i was fighting the burning blade while being attacked by a kraken
Not saying you're lying just I have *never* heard of this before.
but what about the Bald Lady?
I didn't want to encroach on Falcore territory lol. Maybe next myth video!
I think i've tested the world event myth. If the eyes of a SKELETON Fort flicker red, it's beeing contested. if the flackering is green, then not. Same for the SKELETON Fleet, just that the flickering is where the cannons are, cuz the ships obviously don't have eyes...
99% sure that your eyes are playing tricks on you. 😁
I have seen a video about how to summon Ancient Skelletons on a sea fort doing some kind of ritual with skulls and using some particular emote.
I wonder if that is a myth.
Most certainly. Otherwise Rare's giving up tons of cash and we know that ain't happening!
@@JonBardcore then how did the skeleton spawn? The video is "summoning the ancient skeleton on sea of thieves"
these emotes/animations are so damn good lol
Hahaha, love the cutaways
the shrouded ghost spawned on me two times on the first day of playing the game lmao
Wait so if you repair a level 3 hole and it breaks again, it wont be a level 3 hole when it breaks?
i met the shroud once the only problem was it was my first time i set out to sea outside the tutorial i joined the game of corse the other person joined looked at me with no cosmetics or anything left instantly i chose a mission starting with gold horders and started to go i played a little bit and then my first ever random encounter a big meg which to someone who never even done basic ship combat and barely fought off a few skeletons on islands i ran away
I’m fairly certain that the Athena Kay does have a bigger kill radius.
While I had a cam on the outside, Bardcore was inside planting the Keg. There was no difference in damage done to Bardcore from the same spot.
@@JonBardcore ok thanks for the note, now I know not to go out of my way to get one.
Pretty sure the skeleton fleet cloud changes from dim green flashes to bright orange flashes when the skeletons are in battle
I believe that is due to the way the sunlight reflects during periods of sunrise and sunfall.
@@JonBardcore i actually just checked and even if the sun is behind the skeleton ship cloud, the flashing is still distinctively green. So I don't think it's that
7:47 why did you do that to me
surprised you didnt cover "Wearing the skeleton/ghost cures is equal to there skill" in combat
Hahahah, maybe in a future myths video!
bro me and my friend just started playing the game and we loot a fortress and a kraken+ a megalodon spawns on us after both is gone another megalodon spawns
No you don't need to get as low as possible on your ladder with the crying chest, just press F, it doesn't matter where are you on the ladder.
Another mistake, Krakens CAN spawn even with world events, If I remember correctly Rare changed her to spawn even with WE in Season 9
I'll see you at the bottom of the sea soon enough. 😁
I was thinking about calling exzibit for a spot on his episode on pimp my ship
Lord knows I need it
There needs to be a whirlpool somewhere in this game
Agreed! Been asking for one for years!
@@JonBardcore I can imagine it being a part of the sunken kingdom and maybe moving around like the storm or appearing and disappearing in certain open water areas around the edge of the map in similar places to the Legend of the Veil final chapter
My family and I decided that there is a single person at Rare with hundreds of monitors watching every player on Sea of Thieves. and once a day they choose a person at random and press one button. That button is solely for spawning the Shrouded Ghost. One time on one person's game, once a day.
LOLOL, that's what Barn X is for! :O

Any time!
I’ll add one. Silent boarding is patched; and doing so now is pointless.
Feels like silent boarding goes away for a patch then comes back for two more. 🤣
@@JonBardcore Well the past few seasons it’s been patched pretty well. A lot of people do it still; little do they know it’s just a placebo now.
It doesn't count as a "full repair".. when you only use planks and no shipwright, the ship WILL sink much faster, as a bilge/bucket MASTER, I'd know. (Even if you got sunk, respawns and then start sailing without repairing, you're basically purposely giving yourself a disadvantage.
It DOES actually matter..
Appreciate the comment.
I proudly have the title "Hunter of the shrouded ghost"
Congrats! Do you wear it as a flex to those you meet?
@@JonBardcore I do my dude, that and the figurehead
I think the difference between kegs is the size of the hole it creates
I'd have to go back and look at the footage for each hole repair but I doubt this considering the damage to the player was the same.
@JonBardcore well to be fair the difference in distance for players doesnt mean much cuz i feel like with kegs you either die instantly or almost die to fire, zero in between
Can I ask if you have a tier 2 hole in your ship and you repair it (with planks), another hit to that place isnt going to make the hole tier 2 again but tier 1 because you repaired it???
And if it does make the hole tier 1, then shipwright repair is useless right???
So when you repair with a plank it's fully repaired. The damage next done to the same hole totally depends on what just hit it, a rock VS a cannonball VS a wraithball etc.
Shipwright repair is totally cosmetic only.
@@JonBardcore Thanks :)

@@JonBardcore instant reply, thanks
Repairing the ship resets the all holes to tier 1. If you fix a tier 3 hole with plank, it opens up again as a tier 3 hole. 🤓
Is this one true or false?
This is not *necessarily* the case. It all depends on the type of impact on that hole. A chainshot, for example, will only give you a T1 hole at first impact.
I repair every session because what else am i gonna spend my millions of gold on when Rare isnt adding enough new gold shop items per season?
