I'm 70yrs old and growing up I loved the westerns more than Saturday's cartoons. I had the Have Gun Will Travel toy set and went about taking care of all the bad guys in my back yard. Due to an accident when I was 5 or 6, I lost an eye and Jack Elam became the actor I identified with. Before I die, I'd still love to be in a western. Hell, I wouldn't even be particular about the part. I could play an old drunk, a bar tender at a saloon, or an old miner killed protecting his claim. I'm not particular. :)

Remember Sat when you paid your dime and you and a couple of palls went to watch Bob Steele..Mom made you leave the caps at home but you had your cap pistols and you were impsatient for the action to start.. You and whole theater of others, snapping your guns. UhOh, someone had caps and you could smell the gun smoke. Forget the newsreel we want cowboys.and horses.
And when it was over you swaggered out trying to look tough like Bob!
What ever happened to those days. Kids today have no clue.
Yep! 10 cents to get into the Saturday Afternoon Matinee, then 10 cents for a coke and 5 cents for a bag of popcorn. My allowance was 25 cents a week! Then gunfights in front of the movie theater after the movie, lol! Will be 70 soon, still love these movies!
Yeah nowadays I've haven't been to a movie in a long time but they probably carry real guns..... those were the good old days weren't they.....
Thanks so much for these great old movies!! Simple times, simple uplifting values, unoffensive and entertaining . . . and the hero always gets the girl! What a contrast to the trash that came later in the movie industry! Do you have any idea of the number (mas o menos) of western movies that were made of this type in the 30's, 40's and fifties?
