PELOTON DIGITAL APP ON ECHELON EX3 SPIN BIKE HACK | (see and track all bike metrics and stats)

  • I’ve been using the Peloton Digital App to use on my Echelon EX 3 Bike for a little over a month now and this video shows how I set it up. I paid £1238.99 for the Echelon EX3 bike and £12.99/month for Peloton Digital app for the cycling classes + strength/yoga classes. I have also used CZcams for free spin classes, and even though it is nice to find free classes on CZcams I find that the selection just can’t compete with Peloton’s variety of classes, great music, and diversity of instructors.
    The Peloton Bike is amazing, but the Peloton App may be a better option for those not ready to purchase the Peloton Bike. Is the Peloton App with an alternative bike worth it or would it be better to save for the Peloton Bike? This video covers the pros and cons of using the Peloton App with an Echelon indoor cycling bike.
    The downside is that I don’t get to compete in the live classes and see my metrics directly on the Peloton app screen, but that doesn't bother me that much. The only way to see your stats in the Peloton app is to purchase the bike for over $2,200 and $39.99/month for their membership. This just seems a bit too expensive for me and so I decided to create my own Peloton hack to same me some money while still getting an amazing workout for a fraction of the price. I am personally not a competitive person so I don't need the leaderboard or the live classes and statistics so this setup really works for me and it is a much more affordable price than an all-inclusive Peloton set-up

    Hey! I thought it was possible to configure QZ so that it allows the Peloton App to control the EX3's resistance. I think that if you configure everything correctly, you won't have to manually dial the knob, but it will be adjusted by the Peloton session! Have you managed to get that working? You can have the Peloton app show your metrics, by connecting it to your QZ device. Check the QZ guides to get your setup to its fullest!

      @@AllAboutAnika Had mine for 3 weeks now, after a few sessions I noticed a grinding noise and eventually tracked it down to the pedals, I know you said your pedals broke too. Maybe this is a bit of a problem with the quality of the pedals you get in the box, anyway I am trying to get them to give me some money towards the new pedals I had to buy.
      The only other minor issues I have are as follows, this would not put me off buying it but would definitely try and get some kind of discount (code, quidco, topcashback) based on the fact its certainly not a perfect bike:
      1) As I am tall at 6ft 5 I think its only just big enough for me with handlebars and seat at max setting.
      2) The Bluetooth version on my tablet is old and when I crank up the resistance there is a real delay of about 5 seconds before it shows on the tablet, on my newer phone this is not an issue.
      3) The fact you have to plug it is a pain, does not affect me where mind is but cant believe that it would have been that difficult to make it wireless as there are plenty of spin bikes that don't need a power cable.
      4) Also I don't like the fact when you complete a class, it just closes down the window and reduces the resistance to 0, as my legs spin too fast and would rather be able to maintain at least some resistance. This wont be an issue when I follow your setup Anika and use Pelaton classes with a freestyle echelon ride.
      5) The plastic holder for the tablet works well but it feels cheap compared to the rest of the bike and I think could have been made out of better quality materials and I worry about leaning on it or my kids breaking it.
      6) Max resistance (32) is not that hard and I often cycle at it during a class, the spin bike in my Gym I would struggle to get a few revolutions at MAX.
      7) I really like the classes but agree the music is a bit old and some coaches are better than others but that's always the case.

    • @AllAboutAnika
      @AllAboutAnika  Před 3 lety

      Hey!!! Happy to answer the questions. With this bike you can use any spin classes app. I personally find peloton app the best spin classes a month. I pay £12.99 a month for peloton. I think it’s great value for money. You don’t see your metrics in the peloton app but you can pull up your cadence/metrics on a separate device on the echelon app, you don’t have to pay for the echelon app to see metrics. So yes I only pay for peloton. With peloton there are 1000s of other classes like yoga, running, cardio, meditation, stretching etc. I really like the spin classes and the bike boot camp and strength classes. I basically mix it up and do different workouts if I don’t feel like spinning. You need to buy your own weights, kettlebells but you don’t need many. Just light weights and medium to heavy weights. You can also try peloton app for free for 30 days so you can try the classes and see what kind of weights/equipment you need. But there are plenty of classes that are also body weight and you don’t neeed to buy weights. I hope this helps :)

      With the echelon class you can join live classes for the active leaderboard. They have classes mostly tailored to US time zone but they do live classes UK afternoon/evenings and sometimes in the mornings. They also have prerecorded classes which have a live leaderboard called “encore”. These classes are previous live classes but the leaderboard is active. So basically in an encore class the teacher is not going to call out your name but you can see who is actually riding at the same time as you and try to beat them/compete with them.
