- It's time to go back to the Playstation 2 and GameCube generation. Both of these consoles were the best we've seen at that point, but where we stand right now in the gaming world, is one of them superior to the other?

Well you could say the same about the PS3/Xbox 360.... They had literally no good games. The PS2 has tons of amazing games but the gamecube has some MASTERPIECES. Just for Smash Melee and Paper Mario its worth getting it.

Yea it is. Gamecube had 4 player games, it was gear towards fun with family and friends. Mario Kart, Smash, Zelda, nfl streets, def jam, mario party, naruto clash. GameCube was a beast, only real ones knows how many hours real gamers out into the cube. Ps2 was amazing but Gamecube was better.
I feel like PS2 is more worth the money, since you can still get a lot of PS2 games, especially used ones for a reasonable price. While GameCube on the other hand, if you want to buy games for the system, especially Nintendo exclusives, then you might as well donate your arm or leg for those games, because oh boy are GameCube games are crazy expensive now days.
Well now yes. Gamecube had smash bros, mario party, mario kart, naruto clash, Zelda.. console was a beast, only real gamers know how great the cube was. Imo better than any console at the time even better than ps2. Having fun playing so many games with family and friends is an insane experience.

Cube wins. Multiplayer is amazing for its time. Smash, mario party, Zelda, mario kart, Re4, etc.. if you had to get these console might as well get the wii. But multiplayer experience for GameCube games were amazing second to none.

The Cube was odd because even those that had them didn't realize how much we really played it. One day back when the Cube was out my friend and I started naming Cube games: Rogue II, Eternal Darkness, Luigi's Mansion, Smash, Kart, Skies, RE4, Wind Waker, and the list went on and on. Only then did we realize how much we actually played Cube. On top of that it was the multiplayer go to anytime anyone came over.
Cube underrated af definitely top tier console. Imo better than ps2 for the multiplayer experience
Loved this generation. Spent so many hours playing Star Wars Battlefront 2, Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3, Time Splitters 2, Super Mario Strikers and Smash Melee

Though I say PS2 wins hands down, I liked the GameCube aswell, because with the GBA player you have a second SNES console aswell sorta.

Don't forget the original PS2 had an internal power supply whilst the Slim did not. That makes the original a win in my book. No power brick.

my brother was the one that told me that GameCube works on Wii so I decided to buy GC games when are Ps2 stopped working and it's alot games that were on ps2 and xbox like Harry Potter, Def Jam and DBZ Budokai

As the owner of a modded Wii and jailbroken PS3, I still play PS2 and GameCube on a regular basis.

I like racing games that have licensed cars and, just as importantly, don't have plumbers saying "Bing Bing Wahoo" so I'm going with Playstation 2 (or the original XBox which has my favourite 6th gen racing game series, Project Gotham Racing).
I do have a Gamecube but I only have a dozen or so games for it and the only first-party Nintendo game I've played on it is Chibi-Robo. The one game series I really enjoy on Gamecube is actually Tiger Woods PGA Tour since I find the little yellow stick a lot more satisfying for swinging a golf club than either of the thumbsticks on the PS2 controller. I also enjoyed Tales of Symphonia on Gamecube but, overall, the PS2 has a much more vast library of JRPGs.
Both are Kings of their time. Both had Awesome exclusives. Dog's Life, (Ps2) Wind Waker, (GC) Champions of Norrath 1&2, (PS2) Geist, (GC) Destroy All Humans, (PS2 all of them) Chibi-Robo, (GC) Gregory Horror Show, (which is bs, cause it only had a European release, not fair... 😒PS2) All the Harvest moon games (GC) I could go on and geek out, but Imma just stop here.. I wish there was a place near here to meet gamers..

I had a PS2 at launch and then Zelda Windwaker released, I immediately went out and grabbed a GameCube.
At the time a loved ps2 way more and it is still great. But Nintendo somehow just has the magic. I can't explain it but i enjoy the game cube more these days. I say get them both.
GameCube holds up better in my opinion. I have a modded GameCube that has a Viper GC case and it can fit full sized DVDs. I burned every game on the GameCube years ago. Best way to play. All original hardware without the extremely expensive games. The GameCube still looks great on a HDCRT. A few years ago I bought the component cables off eBay. Expensive but I think I paid $175.00 for them. Now they are even more expensive but they did help with clarity on the HDCRT. The ps2 is great and I have every console modded in that generation but in terms of graphics and frame rates. The GameCube holds up so well.

@@mandibiedermann2246 F Zero GX, Resident Evil 4, Star Wars Bounty Hunter, but anyway, the GameCube was the most powerful console of the generation, it was just limited by those stupid mindisc's, the Xbox was more powerful on paper, but not in practice so that took second, and the Dreamcast never got to see its full potential but had VGA which looked incredible. The ps2 was the weakest but it was the only one that was a DVD player right out if the box so everyone bought a ps2, then when the install base was massive 3rd parties decided to make their games for it instead of the more powerful hardware, simply because there was a bigger install base that could make them more money. That also means the ps2 got understood way better than the rest
@@GhibliNova what are you talking about? RE4 was just a fast port, and is better than GC, they just slighty reduset the image quality to fit the game with the extra content in a DVD5 instead a DVD9

- The cutscenes on PS2 were pre-rendered GC videos. Gamecube showed the custom suits in the scenes, while PS2 did not.

- The sound undergoes a fairly aggressive compression, decreasing its quality.
- Elimination of elements in the environment such as trees, rocks, bushes or animals.

Both consoles were good wish gaming kept that fun unrealistic and realistic gameplay instead of everything just being stiff and slow I miss when games just had that flow to it nothing hits the same now a days don’t matter what system you got or what games you play just don’t hit for me anymore I just play off emulations

In my opinion the PS2 doesn't even have to fight against that silly cube. Not to mention that syndrome controller they assigned with it, i always felt Nintendo had the worst controllers ever created on this planet.
The only good thing Nintendo did back then were their handhelds such as the Gameboy Color, Advance, SP etc - change my mind.
Ps2 was the best PlayStation console ever that was when Sony was at its best now PlayStation has gone downhill the future of PlayStation doesn’t look very promising.

Gamecube wins in power and in controller (it has amazing controller), but PS2 wins in amount of games. Although Gamecube has some amazing exclusives, which might make up for the lack of the games.

Sonic games are better on GameCube than PS2.
Lets you play Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance games natively on a TV screen.
Like I said with the Sonic games, most third party multi-plats on GameCube are better than PS2.
4 built-in controller ports.
At the time Rockstar games were on only PS2 (For a while) & at the time that was a huge deal, every kid was playing every Rockstar game lol.
Also Kingdom Hearts was only on PlayStation back then.
While I love Super Mario Sunshine, & Double Dash, Nintendo fandom considers those games OK at best , or above average. Luigi’s Manison is loved & Smash Bro Melee. Nobody really talks about that specific Mario party.
Sonic ADV Battle 2 died out later in the 2000’s, & had a small Resurgence during Xbox Arcade. Now TODAY the game is popular again for many reasons. Sonic ADV DX gets 💩’d on 😂.
The GTA games & Kingdom Hearts NEVER went away.
PlayStation for sure, plus the Jak games.
Im a Playstation guy but the Gamecube exclusive slightly edge out the Playstation ones this generation. My personal favorite games this generation were Metroid Prime, Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil Remake and Skies of Arcadia Legends were on the GameCube. This not to say the PS2 did not have its share of fantastic games. God od War 2, Final Fantasy X, Dragon Quest 8, Shadow of the Colossus, Okami and Silwnt Hill 2 would have to be my favorites. But id have to give a very slight edge to the cube.

This is no tough topic the Gamecube was a much better console. The problem was Gamecube got crap PS2 ports and Sony was monopolizing the game market paying companies not to bring games to the GameCube and XBOX.
