- See what breakfast food & options you have on a Carnival Cruise! These include the Lido Marketplace buffet, main dining room on port days, the Mexican food cafe Blue Iguana, and room service. These were from our March 2022 cruise on the Carnival Vista cruise ship.
The buffet breakfast was fairly basic, but the main dining room had a much more extensive menu and entrees. If you enjoy Mexican food, Blue Iguana is offers tasty breakfast burritos & tacos.
For sea days, in lieu of the regular port day breakfast in the main dining room, there is the Seaday Brunch : • Carnival Cruise Seaday...

I might be alone in this, but FOOD is the main attraction for me when it comes to cruises. If they don’t get the food right, I don’t use that cruise line anymore. This video makes me more comfortable with booking with Carnival! Another wonderful video, BTW! Thank you!

My advice for the breakfast buffet: get your eggs cooked to order at the omelet station first, then go through the buffet line and avoid the sad overcooked buffet-line scrambled eggs. Also, the breakfast buffest changes from day to day -- it'll have ham or bacon, but never both. Pancakes or french toast, one of 3 different sausages, ham benedict vs. salmon benedict vs. some other benedict. I didn't see the biscuits and gravy, so that must have been on a day I missed the breakfast buffet.
Appreciate the tips & info! We also recommend the cook to order eggs/omelets as well- we get them every buffet breakfast.

Hi Joann and David, I love the smoked salmon that I usually get in the Oceanview breakfast buffet on Celebrity on toasted English muffins with cream cheese. Along with corned beef hash. Wouldn't pay $5 from room service for it though. All yummy. How many times does Joann need to walk around the outdoor perimeter deck to keep looking as she does with all that eating? We're jealous. your breakfast taco looked kind of like the bottom of the juevos rancheros. But I'm not sure if the juevos rancheros has chicken, or beans. But it typically comes with a runny fried egg on top, then put some salsa on it and it's awesome. I have that and an arepa for breakfast most days. I can have pancakes/french toast any time, but the blue iguana breakfast is a Carnival treat. The arepa is cornbread with that melty, slightly sweet queso, love those (and we'll often put a few of them into a ziploc on the final morning)...
Yeah that tortilla was kind of crunchy vs soft if I remember correctly. It's definitely a treat to have breakfast at Blue Iguana- your order description is making me hungry lol 😋

Great video. I was on the Carnival Splendor before it relocated to Singapore in 2019. We never ate at the buffet and there was no Blue I

Don't do it I was just on the conquest and the food was horrible carnival totally went way downhill I tried carnival again for my first time in 6 years to give them another try and never again the lunch and dinner buffet was inedible to be nice
enjoyed ur vids so far. wish it included the aroma as well 🙂 I've always preferred the buffet (pre-pandemic) to main dining room but I think I've missed out on some really good food if ur vids are any indication. I mostly travel alone so buffets seemed a more obvious choice for me but next time, regardless of which cruise line, I should try the main dining room more often. It seems like HAL's food in the main dining room is a bit better.
Although I haven't cruised in a couple years now I don't think being served as opposed to serving my self presents a problem one way or the other. I get the feeling u prefer to serve yourself in the buffet. The wife seems easy to please but does call out things that are not OK, i.e. biscuits that should not have been served when they're too hard/dry. This is NOT a complaint but would've been nice to view ur opinion more as well as your son. Perhaps ur wife is more articulate? Anyway pretty good job so far.......keep it up

Smoked salmon is my favorite thing to eat with bagels and cream cheese, but I can’t eat it every day, I sometimes have some pancakes with syrup, the food looks good, I went to Ensenada for a four day trip with my Aktion Club two years in a row, I went on the cruise ship carnival imagination, I think it was a little bit bigger than the Vista, it was so much fun, but the ship was rocking on the waves on the back to California.

Hi- glad you're considering going on a cruise! A typical day at lot of times depends on the schedule of activities, which the cruise lines provide nightly in your stateroom so you can plan ahead the next day what to do. Different ships also have attractions like a waterpark, bumper cars or even a roller coaster ride. If it's a port day then you'll likely go out on a mini day trip, or simply stay onboard and have the ship to yourselves. I'll post some sample schedule of activities on our other channel (TTVClips) in the next few days and you can check them out.

Usually sail NCL. the food is way better on Carnival. Only sailed with them once before, looking forward to our next sailing with them.

That's just what Borden calls their chocolate milk. That is what I drink at home for over 50 years, no reason except maybe it sounds classy?

Lido crew told us that Bacon is served every other day, not every morning. It’s become cruise special item, just like the Lobster!!!!
That's the first time I've seen a cruise breakfast buffet with alternate day bacon lol. I guess there are bacon shortages as well. We don't eat much bacon so didn't even notice it or would've mentioned it in the video. Thanks so much for the info!
Lame, I serve bacon every day for my boys at my own home though so I'm sure they'll be tired of it when we go on the cruise.

They might, especially with the fried foods. It's best to ask your travel agent or the crew members once you're on board who would know.

My Carnival cruise in January was 100% bacon free. I was unimpressed with that development.

I love biscuits and gravy, but after 3 cruises and I’ve learned that Carnivals biscuits are like bricks.
Yeah they make it kind of tough for sure- the fluffier, warm biscuits are best.

I tried the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon on brunch day and my eggs were over cooked and had very little salmon and it was cold. I wasn’t impressed.

Yup for sure- at the buffet there is a machine that dispenses regular & decaf. In the main dining room the wait staff will come and offer to pour you coffee.
Unfortunately, we went on the Vista in February, and the food in the buffet was awful, to the extent we won't be cruising with Carnival again, and we are not picky eaters!
Borden milk is not dutch its from the usa

They most likely do actually, or at least have soy milk. Just ask one of the crew members behind the counter and they should be able to provide you some from the galley.
I love how proper she eats. Only thing I use a butter knife for is to spread butter and mayo lol.
Just watching this video made me want to book another cruise! Worst part about a cruise for me is the fact that I over indulge when it comes to the buffet. I learned not to stuff myself, because when I do, I just end up laying out on a chair like a big blob. Now I eat lightly throughout the day and splurge before I head to my cabin for the night. Lol.

MDR for breakfast is the only way to go....buffets are questionable.
Breakfast buffets sometimes are the best option if you want a quick meal, but yup can get really crowded.

It’s just as good however it’s another pallet explored in my experience😀
Definitely if you enjoy Mexican food! It's also right outside the buffet so it's convenient to go in and grab some other essentials like coffee, pastries, etc. I'd say it's a toss up between Blue Iguana and the main dining room port day breakfast or Seaday Brunch (which we'll be doing a video on soon).

This is unbelievable, no one wearing a mask, hundreds of hands touching the same serving spoons, Carnival has a lot to answer for. I want to go cruising again but not in such an unsafe setting like this.
@Shane Lawther That's part of the reason I'm not cruising right now even though I'm a cruise addict/lover. I've been cruising Carnival for over 20 years and cruise multiple times per year. I am a people watcher though and that is what scares me during this pandemic. I have seen some pretty nasty things at the buffet as well as around ship including people coughing up phlem and spitting it into a cup they carry around with them (then putting it back on a table to be washed and used again), people sneezing right at the food not covering their mouth. Coughing in their hands then grabbing the food tongs. Dropping utensils then putting them back with the other utensils and the list goes on. I trust the cruise line is doing all they can but it's the people I don't trust.
Staff wearing mask is the people on the cruise that are not wearing a mask😫
