- Rock'n'Roll Wolf (Romanian: Mama, Russian: Мама, Norwegian: Med Grimm og gru) is a musical film from 1976 and is a Romanian-Soviet-French co-production.
This is a clip from all the different scenes containing the popular "Mom is Home" track throughout the movie. At first we see the goat mother teaching her children the song. The wolf then makes several attempts to get it right so the young goats will open the door for him.
The storyline is loosely based on the famous plot about the Goat and her kids, published as "The Wolf and the Seven Young Kids" in Grimm's Fairy Tales and known to Romanian audience as Ion Creangă's "Capra cu trei iezi" ("The Goat and her three kids") and to Russian audience as a folk tale "Волк и семеро козлят" ("The Wolf and the Seven Kids"). In the movie the number of goat kids is five. The script is written by Vasilica Istrate and Yuri Entin, and Elisabeta Bostan is directing.
The movie was filmed simultaneously in three different languages (Romanian, Russian and English). The cast was formed by dancers from Moscow Circus, Moscow Circus on Ice and Bolshoi Ballet. In 1977 the movie won the «Silver Cup» at Children's Film Festival in Venice.
The film starred Lyudmila Gurchenko as Rada, the goat, Mikhail Boyarsky as Titi Suru, the Wolf, Oleg Popov as the bear, Saveliy Kramarov as the wolf's nephew, George Mihaita as the donkey and Florian Pittiş as the parrot.

My mother once admitted that this guy, the wolf, was probably her first real crush, and to be honest, it was mine as well :D
I saw this movie in French when i was around 9 years old. The songs where in English and I fell in love with this particular song "Mommy". Back at home, I kept asking my older sister to sing it to me at bed time (we were in the same bedroom). She uses to sing it to me in an "invented English" since we both did not know the language at all. I am so thankfull to find it on the web. This is such an important souvenir I have of my sister who died of cancer when she was only 23. I am now 44 and I can finally listen to this wonderfull English version.

Really? And how did you determine that this is "real" version and that the language is "original"? The movie was filmed as multilingual. Most of the actors are soviets.

It's interesting how it's a French co-production, but it wasn't filmed in French somehow. Weird, isn't it? The French versions of the songs would have been lovely. How did the French audience even tolerate them being in English?!
And how amazing that we grew up, at least in this case, on the same movies and music, being raised in different countries and having no idea about it back then. Nice to know.

Так версия на румынском языке еще есть. Им пришлось на разных языках снимать версии, чтобы дубляж попадал в движение губ и языка
Боярский играл роль и пел на английском сам! Вики врёт что его дублировали.

Damn! Wow! Gurchenko and Boiarski singing and speaking english are awesome! So nostalgic and tear squeezing.
Do you think they did the singing? Sounds too good to be true, although it definitely sounds like their voices. I'm confused. They couldn't have possibly sung in English so well.
Wolf-Michael Boyarsky(who is 70 y.o. jubilee today!) sings himself in all versions! i have doubts about Gurchenko... english version voice is very similar to her original russian voice but yes! too native for forigner.
@Евгений нет.Боярский точно поет сам в английской версии "Мамы"! в недавней передаче на Первом к юбилею Боярского даже вроде упоминалось что и в румынской версии он сам поет. у него самого проскользнуло что мол намучился он с румынским языком.

там не дубляж, а озвучка с нуля, потому что английская версия снималась отдельно и под неё отдельно писался звук.

So happy i found this. Al happy memories. We saw this movie at my oncles places and now 51 years i still now everything. Is the also a dvd? Thanks to my oncle's son i could give it to my sis who passed away shortly after. Now i lost it again while all her stuff is gone..i am happy i can watch it here. Thanks

I saw this movie in Russian version (Mama) in 1976 when I was 6 at the cinema. English version is shorter but interesting too. But Russian is wide-screen. Music is beautiful and looks like A.L.Webber. But Romania forgot this movie, it's a pity!

ну почему? фильм неплохо знают в европе и во многих странах, особенно в норвегии, показывают на рождество!
Знают, потому что фильм снят румынским режиссером, декорации, костюмы, парики и композиторы - румынские и французские.

Magic English adaptation. IMHO, the selection of voices for voice acting ideally coincides with the Russian originals.

Я когда была маленькая, и смотрела этот мюзикл ловила себя на мысли, что коза очень похожа на мою маму, а папа на волка)) и в моих воспоминаниях у них были "любовные" мутки 😅 незнаю как это соединилось в моей голове. Волк секси, конечно)
И белочка очень запомнилась, она мне очень нравилась.
Моим крашем был Девид Боуи из фильма Лабиринт когда я уже была старше, так вот пересмотрев его сейчас, я поняла что волк на него похож 😅
By the way Lyudmila Gurchenko (as a mother goat) are acting here (0:19, 5:39, 15:12) in a cast with a terrible fracture of right leg and awful pain. 😰

does anyone know who sings the English versions of the songs? I mean it is obviously not the Russian actors and actresses, and the credits also mention that the English dub was recorded in England, but they dont go into detail of who is actually singing
