  • DN17 is seen perched in a tree and when the cam pans out we catch the action with Mr North chasing off a sub adult intruder who was interested in stealing the food that was recently brought in for DN17 & DN18. They both protect their territory, the fledglings and the food from the sub adult by knocking him off the stump branch into the water, not once but twice!
    Mr North & DNF didn't want to take any chances with the intruder stealing the food so they went into protection mode to chase him out of the territory. The sub adult will fly off and land in the grass in the pasture and a couple minutes later will fly off on its own. Thank you for watching!

    Although I know it's instinct to protect the Eaglets and I agree, I also don't want to see a sub-adult get injured, Some have more tenacity than others and you hope that they would give up before getting attacked. I've learned that the first couple years of being on their own is hard, so on the other hand, you hope they have strong survival skills and that sometimes means finding and stealing food if they haven't hunted successfully that day or for days.

      Difficult to watch because I think of the juvies and subs adults of my favorite nests and I think of them struggling to survive in those first couple years.

    Whoa this one was hard to watch. This poor eagle is just hungry. But it is the nature of the beast. To think though that this could be someone’s eagle they loved… ahh the human side of the fantastic nature lessons. Thanks lady Hawk.

    Hi Lady Hawk. WOW! What powerful parents these two are. DNF and Mr. North sure do work great as definitely a powerhouse couple. I think it was 17 or 18 that had the food and did great keeping it from the subadult too. I honestly have never seen a dad Eagle so powerful like I did with Mr. North. However, even though I’m aware that the parents have to get rid of the subadults that come around cause they still have young in their care and lives but however, could this subadult have been one of their own young from either last season or the season before? Just curious. At first, I thought the dad really had done a lot of injury to the subadult too. Sure seems like DN17 and DN18 are doing quite awesom without their nest. I’m glad they are able to fly and were able to fly when their home went cracking down too. I’m always curious though exactly just where do they sleep? Does anyone know for sure? Do they roost right along with mom and dad? Just cueioua. Thanks again and God bless. 🙏❤️👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻🦅🦅🦅🦅👍🏻❌⭕️

    Feel sorry for the subadult. I didn’t realize eagles were so territorial even to a young get one. But would it cause a threat to them? I guess they think so. 🤷

    • @ladyhawk
      @ladyhawk  Před 4 dny +2

      Hello Schen thank you! The pic is of a young Peregrine Falcon chick named Tiny (Smallie) from the Amsterdam live cam. He was the youngest and smallest chick - hatched late and never caught up in size to his three sisters. He fought for food every day and he fought to live. He brightened up our days with his Amazing Bravery and His fight to Live Tiny fledged on June 16th and he was not really ready due to his small size & not fully grown. But he wanted to be out in the world with his sisters! He was not strong enough to fly high or fast and ended up on the ground and then in a canal. Long story short, the day after he fledged and they scooped him out of the canal - they put him back on a ledge below the nest. But he was too weak to fly and he died that night. In honor of his brave fight to live I changed my cover pic which you know I have had for years to honor Tiny. He meant the world to me and to thousands around the world who watched our little brave heart falcon's zest for life♥

      Hello Sharon! Yes I changed my profile pic to honor Tiny (Smallie) a Peregrine falcon chick who passed away a couple of days ago. The story of Smallie is one of courage & inspiration as he had a will to live and kept defying the odds. I will be doing a tribute video of him in the next few days and will include his story. Thank you for noticing and not bypassing the video!! ♥ Take care my friend!
