- In this in-depth interview Luke talks about his life from being in his first band, The Servants, through to Top 30 success with The Auteurs. He then formed Baader Meinhof and subsequently Black Box Recorder (where he had a Top 20 single) before embarking on a solo career that has included another 11 albums. He also talks about his latest album, 'Rock N Roll Animals' on Cherry Red Records.
One of the very few decent interviews of Luke Haines. Well done to the interviewer for actually letting him speak. 👍🏼
Good bloke. Always thought The Auteurs were a great band, very underrated. Albums stand up very well today.
Enjoyable interview. Looking forward to seeing the new documentary.
Really insightful interview, and aside from him being a fantastic and consistent songwriter over the years, it also shows how much things in "the biz" have changed...
very interesting conversation. As entertaining as the records..
I auditioned for the Servants…twice. The ad was in Melody Maker though.
I love this man.
The whole Wrestling album, Oliver Twist Manifesto, After Murder Park, Baader Meinhoff, North Sea Scrolls, all fantastico! And coming up an album dedicated to nuclear bunkers...
He'd make a great James Bond theme song...
Viva Haines, the Philip Roth of rock music! Come back to Ireland soon, Luke!
Excellent
I love this
He's a one-off, that man Haines.
i like him..he's great fun.
Wot no 'After Murder Park?!'
Genio!
Waiting eagerly for the mutated funk rowing album
You know.
YA KNOW!
Art is about freedom of expression and artists keep on keeping on BUT don't get a band together at 45years old…..say what Luke?
Why not? life is for living YA KNOW…..who cares
Indeed, Iggy Pop has just made one of his greatest records at the age of 69 !!
He comes across in writing and online as some great acerbic wit and yet in conversation occasionally funny and insightful, though kinda vague and inarticulate, ya know. Maybe struggling to express oneself in person is what drives a lot of artists to be brilliant elsewhere. Maybe it's just the artificiality of the interview format - discomfort at such and lack of sleep - who knows?
Nice1
Nick Cave didn't mind creating a new band at 50 years old!
We've only got Luke and Half Man Half Biscuit to take the piss out of modern life, everyone else produces bland and safe.
I am a fan but he says.."um" between every word.
y'know
Luke looks horrible
