The "coup" attempt was actually Trump following the prescribed Constitutional remedies for when the results of an election are thought to be invalid. For better or worse, there were a lot of people in his ear telling him that the election was stolen....and I have some misgivings about that election myself....and what was he doing? Plotting a military takeover? Or filing lawsuits and trying to have Mike Pence not certify the election....which is laid out in the Constitution. In that instance, a Contingent Election is held by the House of Representatives to determine the winner of the Presidency. The incoming representatives had a Republican majority, and Trump would have been elected. This is all perfectly Constitutional, and has actually happened in the past. This is how John Quincy Adams was elected.

Bill “we’re doing great, we have 3% unemployment”
Fantastic! What’s the rate of inflation? Not that that’s important lol!!

Unemployment is not the number. Job participation is. Look at that. It’s insane.

How can it be a disagreement, when you give an answer to a completely different question ?
You asked about global perception of america and the effects it has on global stability.
He answered with an american/personal perspective on the state of america....and nothing to do with world affairs.

Bill Maher´s point about normality is true in as much as there is still an enormous amount of normality in the Western world. I do not live in America, but would assume the situation is similar to Britain: most people go about their daily business, with no visible sign of the big hand of government on the shoulder, and encounter little to no sign of violent behaviour. However, the same can be said for the Titanic after it struck the iceberg. The damage was done, but most people on board for the first few hours had no reason to feel alarmed. All things come to an end and societies that are complacent start to sink gradually until it becomes exponential. America is declining fast in many ways. It is no longer respected abroad, it has pushed Russia towards China, it is spending too much of it life blood on foreign wars, the dollar may not have collapsed but it doesn´t have the same prestige it once had and most importantly, countries around the world are looking elsewhere other than the US. The Saudis are playing both ends - Russia and the US, India and Brazil are looking to buy commodities in currencies other than the dollar and so are many other nations. The rot has started and saying we are not finished yet sounds like complacency.

Every so often, we hear about how Maher is "opening his eyes" or "waking up" or whatever bollocks is being said at the time about it. Clips like this should be a reminder to people to stop holding their breath over it. If Maher's taking this long with it, then it doesn't matter if he finally "wakes up" because the most he could do is just claim some arbitrary share of credit if things change. Which is probably what he'll do.

Anyone who thinks he's waking up simply does not understand what he is and what he's always been and what purpose he plays in the media. He's literally the enemy.

@@drh3b It was a mostly peaceful protest, I watched it. Paled in comparison to 2020 riots. Unfortunately two protesters died at the hands of police. I thought the left hated police brutality, but they downplay those victims.
