These are all terrific but I remember what might be called "the crawl before 'THE CRAWL'," which I believe was in the late 80s as well. There were two women -- fierce competitors, clearly didn't like each other -- and the crowd favourite went completely jelly-legged within site of the finish line, collapsed, got passed by the other woman, and genuinely thought she was going to die. Could her name perhaps have been Paula Newbie Frasier? I don't know if I'm mix-and-matching two memories, but I definitely remember an imposing female athlete from that time named Paula Newbie Frasier.
Ironman... Is there any possibility there can be a weight class. I weigh 280 pounds and not very many guys weigh 280 participating in Ironman. There should be a weight class for us fat boys knowing were carrying another person on our back. I think there should be 1 slot in the weight class for an invitation to Kona. 1 slot... that’s not asking much.or a class weight of 250 pounds or heavier and first finisher to cross finish line earns a spot in Kona.
This tells us: excuses can be found everywhere but none of them are real!

The thing about Ironman is the rules are equal. No changes for gender, age, weight, nationality or disability. Same equal standards around the globe
If you train for Ironman, you will not weigh 280 for long! Keep at it.
