  • A sermon delivered by C.H. Spurgeon, Lord's day morning, December 27th 1857.
The preacher takes a lamp and searches out the hearers. He looks at every recess of our life: our approach to our families and children; our hopes for the future; even our evangelistic endeavours. This is a salutary, but uncomfortable, self-examination

Even the best of our intentions are likely missing the mark, as our own judgment is impaired by our fallen nature. That thought helps us to be more forgiving of ourselves and everyone, for “we know not what we do.” It is why we have to pray always and listen for Gods guidance in everything. We are never truly transformed or freed from the “sinful nature,” which is why we depend on God every moment of every day to show us the way.

Having the hope of being truly transformed is what the Father is looking for, and strengthening us towards😊❤

When we as Christians learn that seeking His Kingdom and His righteousness first will lead to more godliness then we may understand the daily fruit of repentance. Beloved Christian, when was the last time you went through the Beatitudes and the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5-7?

Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you. Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind.
