    Hey, wonderful patients! Dr. Volshteyn here, ready to shed some light on a topic that’s been raising some concerns lately-lipedema and the misconception of removing all the fat associated with it.
    Lipedema is a chronic condition that predominantly affects women, where fat accumulates irregularly in some body regions, such as the hips, buttocks, and legs. This can lead to pain, disproportionate appearance, discomfort, and reduced mobility. While treatment options like liposuction are available, it’s crucial to understand the importance of a holistic approach rather than seeking complete fat removal.
    Complete fat removal, while aiming for a more even body shape, can result in other unwanted side effects. These may include contour irregularities, scarring, nerve damage, and prolonged recovery periods. We want to avoid creating new issues while addressing the existing ones.
    If you have any questions or want to discuss your specific concerns, please schedule an appointment with us. We’re here to support your journey to a healthier and happier you!

    A purewick or bedside commode is much better than an invasive tube up your urethra. You can absolutely still get an infection even if it’s under 24 hours. I would absolutely decline that and opt for something less invasive. I’ll be getting surgery next month and this was one thing I discussed and the surgeon is absolutely fine with removing the catheter before I’m extubated. I don’t know why MDs insist on something so uncomfortable/painful/invasive. There are OTHER OPTIONS. Unless they’re critically ill, there are other ways to monitor fluids and while providing a comfortable and safe way for the patient to urinate.

      You have to be diagnosed with Lipodemea. It’s a disease that will not go away with fat loss or weight loss 😢

    Why can’t you break up the scarring and tissue?

    • @astrammd
      @astrammd Před 9 dny

      Any invasive procedure produces more scar tissue due to the normal process of healing.

      With lipedema you can't lose fat and that's the main point

      Yeah, I was 129 lbs, and my legs still looked like this 🙃 Lipedema is a condition, not just "BEING FAT."
