As someone who enjoys the lore of the games I get why the deacons are there, but it would’ve been so much cooler to fight Aldrich at the cathedral than a bunch of easy enemies standing around a room

Yes, indeed, Dark Souls 3 definitely has the best bosses in Souls borne, and themes, too.

The crystal sage is very funny to me. He carries a rapier, but only uses it to smack you. It is like he is a pure caster build, but tries to mix it up a little, only he has no idea how to.
I like to imagine a student gave him that rapier as a thank you for teaching them, and he carries it around less out of practical use and more out of obligation to his students.
Alternatively, he just wanted to make like difficult for himself.

My main issue with Crystal Sage(s) is that they are stationary, they only teleport forcing you to move to their next position and dodge their spam attack, it's like a slightly less annoying Elden Beast, as they have much less health and better hitboxes
Fighting the NPC mage at the top of the Lothric Archives is a more dynamic and fun fight, as he actually dodge and parry your attacks and always keep you on your toes
This guy is just like ember man, you can just binge his videos for days on end

23:12 Worth noting that you can fight Yhorm without the Storm Ruler, and it actually makes for a pretty fun fight. If you land enough hits on the hand holding his blade, he'll go down for a riposte which scores beeg damage. I had to learn the fight on my broken sword only run and quite enjoyed it. Might be worth giving Yhorm a try Storm Ruler-less (with a real weapon though, because it took me about 15 minutes to down him with the broken sword and I wouldn't wish that upon anyone) Also I really enjoy your content, and hope you're having a great day!

The Ancient Wyvern CAN also be killed normally, but it's of course designed to be killed with the plunging attack.
But yeah I've killed it without the plunging attack on 2 of my playthroughs and I can say it's very much possible but also a pretty tough endurance fight :D
I felt that went without saying. Like sure it's possible, but you have to be a very specific type of player to want to enjoy that lol

This was actually a mistake on my part. I normally schedule my videos for 6PM EU time on Wednesdays. With this one video, I forgot to change it from the 12am default, so it went up a whole 18 hours early lmao

NGL attacking the Deacons with a colossal weapon and seeing them fly around is hilarious.
I always think I like oceiros until I fight him, and then remember that I actually kinda hate him. It’s like remembering him is more fun than the actual fight lol.
I’ve always been a fan of the Sage. Definitely a lower tier boss in the game, maybe like 1/3 of the way up from the bottom, but doing the fight with low vitality makes it super tense trying to bum rush the Sage and avoid the magic due to the high damage. The aesthetics and soundtrack are a big plus. I like it a good bit, but I agree that there are many other better bosses in the game.

I've said before, but I've got a soft spot for the Curse-Rotted Greatwood. I'm of the opinion that a good design can easily offset an otherwise mediocre fight, and CRW easily passes the bar for being so physically and existentially horrible. I'd at least put it above Crystal Sage, but then CS might be one of my least favorite bosses in the game. Pretty generic "witch" aesthetic, teleports around, magic deals way more damage than I expect every time, and I don't really like how it's just kind of a stopgap between the Road of Sacrifices and Cathedral of the Deep. It doesn't really "mesh" with the enemies or theme of the Road, and throwing in some casting hollows right before the boss doesn't change that.

I fought crystal sage today for the first time, and I personally quite enjoyed him! I honestly don't get why people dislike him. The different uses of magic, the clones, and using the pillars in the arena as shields is really nice.

I've played every Soulsborne game 1-3 times each and i still have to say that Dark Souls 3's boss roster is the hardest roster I have ever fought. Sure Elden Ring has made me borderline break a controller but nothing has caused me so much anxiety and rage than DS3...and I loved every minute of it.
Greatwolf elevates it by two slots in my opinion
But then Gravetender brings it down by one
i beat the Ancient Wyvern yesterday, and omg, i messed up at the first try. I felt down and died ahahaha, later i beat finally the boss owo. PFFFF AHAAHAH The High Lord sure is goofy hieheheeh

The curse rotted greatwood is cool in concept, but the fact that it amounts to basically a gimmick fight is a little sad. The attacks are all way too easy to destroy, and it killed it on my second try during my first playthrough. The only reason I died once was because I didn't expect the grab attack and didn't realize the hand was a hitbox I could use to kill the boss, so I was just lost trying to find a place to attack after I destroyed all the rest.
One cool thing about the gravetender fight is that, If you beat the wolf on both prior encounters, It shows up here with a reduced health bar. It's a nice reward for taking your time earlier in the DLC.
To me personally, the worst bosses are Gravetender and (especially) Halflight. Even worse than Wyvern. They just feel like a *lazy* boss design that has turned out to be two NPC (or one NPC and one player) fights. Moreover, Halflight is mandatory if you want to finish the DLC and fight top tier bosses what I find a weird decision.
At least Halflight has a pretty unique moveset with his NPC version. It saves the fight from being not worth the effort IMO.
Ocelotte wasnt ment to be invisible at first, but that phase transition where Oceiros slams the baby imto the ground woudlnt have gone past even the dumbest editor, so they had to make him invisible.
It brings me great agony to see Halflight above Yhorm.

@@BillySYT I actually really like Yhorm, I think he's very fun without the storm ruler, as he gets to show off his moveset and I get to hear his theme for more than 30 seconds.

It's a fully valid criticism. Yhorm was a Lord of Cinder, one of the few hyped up fights in the game, and I found it underwhelming. I'm glad you enjoyed it, genuinely happy it lived up to expectations for you, but like... I'm not going to fake my opinion?

Dark souls 3 in my opinion has some of the most memorable bosses in the series but I personally was not the biggest fan of its level design.
I thought every gays had aldrich at least in their top 5 (he's my top 1) 😔
He's a diva and he slays, but I had to make some tough decisions
@@BillySYT honestly, a major part as to why he's my ult fave in all of the souls trilogy, aside from his lore, is gwyndolin. I have VERY high affinity towards lunar characters. That's why Rennala's my no.1 souls-borne character of all time.

If there's one thing I pride myself in, it's pronouncing the names of eastern-based characters as correctly as I can. People have no excuse with Sekiro when most of the characters have their names said in the voice acting at least once or twice.

It genuinely was unintentional but at this point people have noticed so much that it's a channel in-joke at this point.
Definitely don't agree that Dark Souls bosses "continued to evolve". Demons each boss was groundbreaking for the era, DS1 most of them are filler with 1 or 2 standouts, DS2 were mostly trash. BB was an evolution, then DS3 a regression (although better in quality overall)

"The only aspect of the game that really matters" how are bosses the only aspect of the game that matters? Dark souls is not only known for its bosses and ds3 is the only souls game that's best quality is its bosses
Personally I think Oceiros has some of the best lore in the series, I would have him a bit higher but I understand. It’s a shame his fight didn’t live up to it 😔
